20120229791MICROSCOPE - A microscope including an illumination device providing a light sheet illuminating a sample region, said sheet having a planar extension along an illumination axis of an illumination beam path and a transverse axis lying normal to the illumination axis. A detection device detects light emitted from the sample region on a detection axis the illumination axis and detection axis as well as the transverse axis and the detection axis being oriented relative each other at an angle unequal zero. The detection device has a detection lens system arranged in the detection beam path and splitting means for splitting the detection beam path into two beam sub-paths. A dichroic beam splitter in the infinity region of the surface detectors is about 3 mm thick. Wobble plate(s) disposed orthogonal to each other relative to the detection axis arranged in one of the two beam sub-paths so measured values can be automatically superimposed.09-13-2012

20080198355Surface measurement of in-vivo subjects using spot projector - The invention provides for surface mapping of in-vivo imaging subjects using a single camera and an illuminator that projects a plurality of targets such as spots on the subject. By limiting the depth-of-field of the camera lens, or of the illuminator optics, or both, a spatial plane is defined in which the spots are most sharply in focus. Controlled displacement of this plane relative to the subject is achieved through movement of the mechanical stage on which a subject is placed; or through movement of the best-focus plane by adjustment of the camera, lens, or illuminator optics. Images are taken at several relative positions of the best-focus plane and the subject, and the height of individual points on the subject is determined through analysis of focus, given the known displacements. A mesh or other surface can be constructed from individual point locations, to provide a surface map of the subject. Accuracy of 0.5 mm can be readily attained for mice and similarly sized subjects.08-21-2008
20080204697Surface measurement apparatus and method using depth of field - The invention provides for surface mapping of in-vivo imaging subjects using a single camera and a moveable stage on which a subject animal for in-vivo imaging is placed. Images are taken and the stage is moved by known amounts along the optical axis, and the heights of individual features on the subject are determined through analysis of focus, given the known stage displacement. Alternatively, height of sub-regions of the subject are determined through analysis of focus. A mesh or other surface can be constructed from individual features, to provide a surface map of the subject. Accuracy of 0.5 mm or better can be attained for mice and similarly sized subjects.08-28-2008
20080218727METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPTICAL IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION USING CONTOUR DETERMINATION - The present invention relates to a method and a system for optical imaging of an object in transmission configuration. The method and system obtain contour coordinates of the object using source/detector configurations references and acquire optical data from a region of interest (ROI) of the object. Then, the method and system apply a weighting factor to said optical data as a function of the contour coordinates, and reconstruct an image of the ROI using the weighted optical data and photon diffusion equation.09-11-2008

20080246960Fiber Quality Transducer - A fiber quality transducer includes an inlet mixing probe, a rotating valve sleeve, a camera and a sampling cell. Slurry from a pulp tube flow enters a mixing chamber in the inlet mixing probe. The amount of slurry entering the mixing chamber is controlled by the rotating valve sleeve. The sampling cell includes a first sampling lens and a second sampling lens retained in a sampling bore. The first and second sampling lens are spaced apart to form a sampling space to facilitate the flow of diluted slurry. The camera is retained behind the first sampling lens and a LED back light is retained behind the second sampling lens. The diluted slurry flows past the sampling space. The camera photographs the fibers in the diluted slurry flow. The images from the camera are sent to analyzing software, which determine the characteristics of the fibers in the diluted slurry.10-09-2008

20120154809Device and Method to Measure Bulk Unconfined Yield Strength of Powders Using Minimal Material - A method bulk strength of powders uses acceleration forces to compact the powder into a small conical test cell that is rotated at high speed. Once the material is consolidated to a prescribed condition, the rotation is stopped, the outlet of the cell is exposed, and the cell is rotated again at increasing acceleration until material freely exits the cell. The forces generated on the powder in the cell are determined and used to compute the cohesive strength of the bulk material.06-21-2012

20100309488RECORDING MEDIUM IMAGING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - There is provided a recording medium imaging device capable of properly selecting pixels used for determining the kind of the recording medium from the captured surface image to remove pixels from which the surface property of the recording medium cannot be properly determined because the pixels extremely high in light quantity are affected by some sort of dirt or scratches in determining the kind of a recording medium. This allows the determination of kind of the recording medium based on the normally captured surface image to reduce the decrease in accuracy in determining the kind of the recording medium.12-09-2010
