20100086117 | System And Method For Gathering Information Related To A Geographical Location Of A Caller In A Public Switched Telephone Network - In a telecommunication system having at least two communicants (i.e., a caller and a callee), a system and method are presented for collecting information associated with the geographical location of either of the communicants. In one embodiment, the approach entails receiving a geographical location corresponding to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) telephone number, and collecting geographical location information associated with the received geographical location. | 04-08-2010 |
20100183134 | CENTRALIZED STATUS SERVER FOR CALL MANAGEMENT OF LOCATION-AWARE MOBILE DEVICES - Systems, methods and computer program products for utilizing location information in a virtual private branch exchange (vPBX) system are described. In some implementations, the vPBX system can use the location information to determine an availability status of a user of a mobile device (e.g., out of the office, in the office, at home, busy, and the like). The vPBX system can obtain the geographic coordinates of the mobile device and correlate these coordinates with known coordinates for locations associated with the user (e.g., the user's office, home, or other predefined locations). An inference of the user's availability can then be determined based on the correlation (e.g., whether the user is currently out of the user's office, at the user's home, or at another location). The user's availability can be made available to other users associated with the vPBX system, and can be used for call management (e.g., routing). | 07-22-2010 |
20120269332 | METHOD FOR ENCODING MULTIPLE MICROPHONE SIGNALS INTO A SOURCE-SEPARABLE AUDIO SIGNAL FOR NETWORK TRANSMISSION AND AN APPARATUS FOR DIRECTED SOURCE SEPARATION - A method is provided for encoding multiple microphone signals into a composite source-separable audio (SSA) signal, conducive for transmission over a voice network. The embodiments enable the processing of source separation of the target voice signal from its ambient sound to be performed at any point in the voice communication network, including the internet cloud. A multiplicity of processing is possible over the SSA signal, based on the intended voice application. The level of processing is adapted with the availability of the processing power at the chosen processing node in the network in one embodiment. An apparatus for separating out the target source voice from its ambient sound is also provided. The apparatus includes a directed source separation (DSS) unit, which processes the two virtual microphone signals in the SSA representation, to generate a new SSA signal including the enhanced target voice and the enhanced ambient noise. | 10-25-2012 |
20140177814 | SOFTWARE ROUTINE AND METHODS FOR IMPLEMENTING ROUTINE TO EXTEND TIME TO TRACE A PHONE CALL - Phone call tracing is a law enforcement tool best known for its use by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in trying to catch kidnappers. Tracing a call is useful for law enforcement and intelligence agencies in order to capture potentially dangerous people. Although useful, tracing a phone call has one drawback: time. It takes time to trace a call. Because of the time it takes to trace a call, the phone is usually hung up or turned off before a trace can be completed. Since there is no way for the trace to be hurried, I propose a phone app that when uploaded to a phone will prevent the phone from disconnecting from the network. This app would upload on the electrical signal carrying the audio and/or video signal. The app will upload into the phone and interfere with the phones ability to terminate the call without indicating that the phone is still connected to the network. With the app downloaded, the app will keep the phone call active so that the trace can then be completed. | 06-26-2014 |

20130022188 | DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE SERVICE BASED ON CONTEXT IDENTIFIER - Methods and systems are disclosed for providing context information pertaining to a request of a directory assistance operator service based on a context identifier. The context identifier permits the directory assistance operator service to obtain context information including a location of the user and a location relevant to a directory listing search. The context identifier also can be used to pass context information or directory listing information across multiple types of user devices that use different types of services including a television service, a mobile service, a landline telephone service, and Internet service, and third party devices to permit enhanced directory assistance services to be provided to the user. | 01-24-2013 |
