A method of completing a wellbore, comprising forming a wellbore in a subterranean formation comprising permafrost, gas hydrates, or both, preparing a cement composition comprising cement, water, and a heat sink material, placing the cement composition into an annulus formed between a casing and the wellbore, and allowing the composition to set, wherein at least a portion of the heat sink material undergoes a phase transition by absorbing at least a portion of the heat released upon hydration of the cement, thereby reducing an amount of heat transferred from the annular cement to the surrounding permafrost and/or gas hydrates.05-13-2010
20110094414FORMULATING A SEALANT FLUID USING GAS TO LIQUID BASE STOCKS - It has been determined that sealant fluid formulations comprising a lubricant oil derived from Fischer-Tropsch waxes demonstrate performance comparable to sealant fluid comprising lubricants derived from polyalphaolefins (PAO's). The sealant fluids of the current invention can provide excellent performance properties similar to those provided by PAO based sealant fluids, but at lower cost.04-28-2011
20120118199Sealant Composition and Method of Making It - Valve-through tire puncture sealant compositions including dissolved and undissolved natural bio-materials, anti-freezing agents and other rigid particles are invented. In the preparation, an aqueous solution with 0.1-10 wt % dissolved bio-materials and 0.1%-10 wt % tackifier is mixed with anti-freezing agent, in which 0.01-5 wt % rigid particles of bio-materials and other particles are suspended. Weight percentage of water and anti-freezing agent are 20-40 wt % and 20-70 wt % respectively. Trace amounts of additives such as colouring and preservative are possibly added to the sealant. The invention includes the method for preparing the sealant composition containing bio-materials. The proposed sealant compositions have several advantages: Environmentally friendly, insignificant settling, long shelf-life, etc. The sealant is capable of sealing puncture formed by less than or equal to 6.35 mm spike for long duration, i.e. more than 30 hours.05-17-2012
20120247366LEAK SEALANT FOR DAMS AND OTHER STRUCTURES - An environmentally acceptable leak sealant comprising lava rock aggregate (scoria) for sealing leaks in dams, holding ponds or other water-containing structures. The aggregate is selected and graded for particle size and density. Particles of different sizes co-operate to engage walls of the leak and interlock with each other to form a seal within a leak opening. The particles must sink at a suitable rate, and become entrained in water flow through the leak. Beneficially larger particles have a generally higher sink rate than smaller particles, and so arrive first at the leak to staunch a major part of the flow; intermediate and smaller particles follow to form an effective seal. Applications include sealing sluice gates, stop logs at hydroelectric dams to reduce water wastage for increased electricity productivity, for maintenance requiring de-watering of the turbine; or for sealing leaks in cracks in bedrock or concrete structures associated with dams.10-04-2012

20110303121FUNCTIONALIZED GRAPHENE AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME - The present invention relates to the novel material fluorographene (FG), methods of making fluorographene, and its applications in electronics and related fields. The fluorographene also finds use in improving the properties of composite materials by incorporating the fluorographene of the invention with one or more materials such as fluoropolymers (FP) and the like. Conventionally, FP inter-chain interactions are very weak but spread over the area of FG, FG is able to act as a very effective and compatible reinforcement.12-15-2011
20120118204METHOD FOR PREPARING LOW K MATERIAL AND FILM THEREOF - A method for preparing a low dielectric constant (low k) material and a film thereof is provided. The method includes the following steps. A substrate is first put into a plasma generating reaction system, and a carrier gas carrying a carbon and fluorine containing silicon dioxide precursor is then introduced into the plasma generating reaction system, so that the carbon and fluorine containing silicon dioxide precursor is formed on the substrate. After that, the carbon and fluorine containing silicon dioxide precursor is converted to a low k material film through heating; meanwhile, a stress of the low k material film is eliminated such that the film has a more compact structure. By means of these steps the carbon and fluorine containing silicon dioxide precursor is still capable of forming a low k material film of silicon dioxide containing a large amount of fluorocarbon, even under various different atmospheres.05-17-2012
