20110235632 | Method And Apparatus For Performing High-Quality Speech Communication Across Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Communications Networks - A communications terminal device and a method performed by a communications terminal device wherein packet data received from a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) headset (such as, for example, a Bluetooth headset), which comprises an encoded audio signal, is directly convened by the terminal device to Internet Protocol (IP) packets which are transmitted across a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications network, wherein speech encoding is not performed by the terminal device. Similarly, a communications terminal device and a method performed by a communications terminal device wherein IP packet data comprising an encoded audio signal is received from a VoIP communications network by the terminal device, and is directly converted by the terminal device to WPAN packets (such as, for example, Bluetooth protocol packets) which are transmitted to a WPAN headset (such as, for example, a Bluetooth headset), wherein speech decoding is not performed by the terminal device. | 09-29-2011 |
20120201148 | Method Of Managing User Traffic To Prevent Aggressive Users From Abusing Network Resources - In one embodiment, a plurality of queues are established corresponding to each of a plurality mobiles, respectively. Data packets associated with the plurality of mobiles are received at a network element. Each received data packet is assigned to a corresponding one of the plurality of queues. A determination operation is performed on a selected one of the plurality of queues to determine whether or not to send one or more packets of each queue from the network gateway element. The determination operation is performed based on a comparison between a packet size of a head packet and an adaptive transmission threshold value associated with the selected queue. The adaptive transmission threshold value is a value that is changed based on an amount data sent from the selected queue. The head data packet being an earliest received data packet in the selected queue. | 08-09-2012 |

20120295605 | INTERFERENCE REDUCTION FOR A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - An apparatus, method and program reduce interference in interfered cell sites of a wireless communications network. A cell site is a region in which wireless communications are provided to mobile devices, and the interfered cell sites being cell sites where mobile devices are subject to interference signals from at least one interfering transmitter. A transmitter is selected from a list of interfering transmitters in need of adjustment and corresponding antennas. A critical zone is determined with respect to the selected transmitter. Parameters of the selected transmitter and the corresponding antenna are altered and performance of the wireless network in the critical zone around the problem transmitter and interference in the cell sites interfered by the problem transmitter are monitored. Altering of the parameters of the transmitter and the corresponding antenna is performed continuously until a desired interference reduction is achieved in the cell sites interfered by the selected transmitter. | 11-22-2012 |
20120295608 | INTERFERER DETECTION AND INTERFERENCE REDUCTION FOR A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - An apparatus, system, method and program detect and reduce interference in cell sites of a wireless communications network. A cell site from the cell sites of the wireless communications network is selected and signal code power measurements from mobile devices in the cell site are received so that the sources of signals being transmitted to the mobile devices can be determined. Interfering sources are determined based on the signal code power measurements and the active set of sources for the mobile devices. The signal code power measurements are summed and ranked, and interfering transmitters associated with the ranked signal code power measurements for the interfering sources are determined. The same procedure is repeated for all cell sites of the wireless communications network, and the transmitter that is an interfering source for the highest number of cell sites is selected as a problem (interfering) transmitter. The parameters of the problem transmitter and the corresponding antenna are altered and performance of the wireless network in a critical zone around the problem transmitter and interference in the cell sites interfered by the problem transmitter are monitored. Altering of the parameters of the problem transmitter and the corresponding antenna is performed continuously until a desired interference reduction is achieved in the cell sites interfered by the problem transmitter. | 11-22-2012 |

20120295609 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR UNDERPERFORMING CELL DETECTION AND RECOVERY IN A WIRELESS NETWORK - In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a monitor module, a detector module and an adjustment module. The monitor module is configured to receive a set of indicators from a wireless network. The detector module is configured to detect an underperformance condition during a time period and within a first cell of the wireless network based on the set of indicators. The adjustment module is configured to iteratively adjust a parameter associated with a second cell of the wireless network to produce an adjusted parameter. The adjustment module is configured to send the adjusted parameter to the wireless network to improve performance of the wireless network. The adjustment module is configured to restore, after the time period, the parameter associated with the second cell to a value equal to a value for the parameter prior to the time period, and send that value of the parameter to the wireless network. | 11-22-2012 |
20130114464 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PARTITIONING WIRELESS NETWORK CELLS INTO TIME-BASED CLUSTERS - In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a cluster partitioning module and an optimization module. The cluster partitioning module receives a first performance indicator set for a first instance of a time period set. The cluster partitioning module defines a recurring schedule set, where each time period from the recurring schedule set is associated with a performance indicator from the first performance indicator set and within a predefined range of a performance indicator associated with the remaining time periods from the recurring schedule set. The optimization module receives a second performance indicator set for a second instance of the time period set. The optimization module defines a metric value based on the second performance indicator set, and causes a change in a network implementation based on the metric value at each time period from a third instance of the time period set and from the recurring schedule set. | 05-09-2013 |
20130217435 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR COORDINATION IN MULTI-MODE NETWORKS - A non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code to cause a processor to receive a performance indicator associated with a first mode. The code causes the processor to calculate, using the performance indicator associated with the first mode, a first metric value associated with a first metric and an objective of the first mode. The code causes the processor to calculate, using the first metric value, a second metric value associated with a second metric and an objective of a second mode. The second metric value partially compensates for a change in a performance indicator associated with the second mode when the first metric value is implemented. The code causes the processor to send a signal associated with the first metric value and a signal associated with the second metric value to an antenna module such that the antenna module implements the first metric value and the second metric value. | 08-22-2013 |

20130242736 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING A SELF OPTIMIZING-ORGANIZING NETWORK MANAGER - In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a management module implemented in at least one of a memory or a processing device. The management module is configured to receive a signal associated with a value of a performance indicator that a first process module is configured to optimize using a metric. The management module is configured to optimize a value associated with the metric based at least in part on the value of the performance indicator that the first process module is configured to optimize and a value of a performance indicator that a second process module is configured to optimize using the metric. The management module is configured to send a signal to the first process module such that the first process module modifies a value of the metric based on the value associated with the metric. | 09-19-2013 |
