20120095041 | REVERSIBLE NONDEPOLARIZING NEUROMUSCULAR BLOCKADE AGENTS AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE - The invention provides neuromuscular blockade agents of the non-depolarizing type with few if any circulatory effects. Compounds of the invention include bis(isoquinolylalkanol) diesters of fumaric, maleic, succinic, and acetylenedicarboxylic acids; compositions suitable for parenteral administration of these compounds as a surgical adjunct to anesthesia, and methods of preparation of the compounds. Compounds of the invention can produce neuromuscular blockade of short or intermediate duration, which for various compounds can be reversed by administration of a thiol compound such as L-cysteine, D-cysteine or glutathione. For various compounds of the invention, the neuromuscular blockade effect can be reversed quickly, efficiently, and without notable side-effects. | 04-19-2012 |
20120214873 | CYSTEINE FOR PHYSIOLOGICAL INJECTION - This application describes methods of making and using physiological cysteine solutions useful for reversing a neuromuscular blockade caused by a cysteine-reversible neuromuscular blockade agent, that overcomes problems of cysteine precipitation and dimerization. | 08-23-2012 |

20150010957 | Alkcell Process (alkali-cellulase process) for the conversion of biomass (cellulosic material) to glucose - The Alkcell (alkali-cellulase) Process is a method for the conversion of biomass (cellulosic material) such as agricultural waste, for example, corn stover into glucose. The process uses an alkali pretreatment of biomass followed by hydrolysis with cellulase enzymes to produce glucose. The Alkcell Process uses commonly available materials and methods readily implemented near the biomass growing site. The operating conditions are mild with temperatures not above boiling water solutions, and require half-day conversion to produce glucose in water. Remaining solids can be recycled for additional glucose. An advantage of the Alkcell Process is implementation at or near the biomass growing site that avoids transporting biomass distances to special cellulose processing facilities. The glucose produced can be fermented at existing grain fermenting facilities so that special cellulose handling refineries are not required. The Alkcell Process can be configured to a manual or powered process done in individual steps or continuously. | 01-08-2015 |

20120168093 | DRYING APPARATUS AND METHODS - Apparatus and method for drying a product comprising placing the product on a first side of a support surface, and directing dry radiant heat toward the second side of the surface to heat the product. A sensor can be included to measure at least one characteristic of the product, such as the temperature or moisture content thereof. The temperature of the heat source can be regulated as a function of the measured characteristic. The support surface can also be made so as to be movable relative to the heat source. In an alternative embodiment, a plurality of control zones are defined and through which the product is successively passed. Each of the control zones has at least one associated heat source and an associated sensor so as to regulate the temperature of the heat sources associated with each control zone independently of those associated with another zone. | 07-05-2012 |
20120233874 | APPARATUS FOR DISPENSING MATERIAL - An apparatus for dispensing material includes an outlet opening with a perforated cover. A rotatable applicator dispenses material through the perforated cover and may include brushes that sweep across and penetrate the openings of the perforated cover. The housing may also contain a feed roller for regulating the flow of the material and one or more commutators for fractionating the material. | 09-20-2012 |

20140377446 | DEHYDRATED PLANT-DERIVED PRODUCTS AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME - Embodiments of a composition comprising (a) a dispersion 40-99.9% (w/w) plant-derived product and 0-60% (w/w) exogenous disaccharide, and (b) water are disclosed, wherein the composition has a water content≦5% (w/w). Suitable plant-derived products include solids from fruits, vegetables, and sap- or nectar-derived products. Solids from fruits and/or vegetables are obtained from a puree, a juice, or a combination thereof. The composition may further include natural color and/or natural flavor obtained from a fruit, a vegetable, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the composition further includes ≦5% flowability agent. In some embodiments, the composition is a powder comprising a plurality of particles, each particle having a substantially similar chemical composition. Also disclosed are embodiments of products including the disclosed powders, and methods for making the compositions. | 12-25-2014 |

20120151790 | DRYING APPARATUS AND METHODS - The present disclosure concerns a drying or heating apparatus that is capable of independently controlling the temperature of the product being heated (e.g., to achieve a desired temperature profile) and the wavelength of the radiation (e.g., to maximize the heat transfer rate). To such ends, a drying apparatus can be provided with one or more heat sources that are movable relative to the product being heated in order to increase or decrease the gap or spacing between the heat source and the product. By adjusting the gap between the product and the heat source, it is possible to control the source temperature in such a manner that produces the desired product temperature and wavelength of radiation. | 06-21-2012 |
