20140216693 | ELECTRIC VEHICLE THERMAL MANAGEMENT AND FILTRATION SYSTEM - A thermal management system for an electric vehicle is provided. The thermal management system includes a thermal circuit for regulating a battery temperature. A filter is located upstream of the battery for filtering liquid coolant. The thermal management system also includes a second thermal circuit in fluid communication with the battery thermal circuit. The second thermal circuit provides thermal control to a vehicle system other than the battery. The battery thermal circuit includes a plurality of battery cells. Pluralities of heat exchanger fins are located between each of the battery cells to provide the coolant to regulate the battery temperature. The filter has a filtration transfer function based on a filter characteristic of the fins. | 08-07-2014 |
20140216709 | ELECTRIC VEHICLE THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - A traction battery thermal management system is provided. The thermal management system includes a battery loop for regulating the traction battery temperature. A motor loop is provided for regulating a motor temperature. The thermal management system also includes a radiator. A radiator valve selectively controls fluid flow through the radiator. A battery valve selectively couples the battery loop and the motor loops. The battery loop, the motor loop are in fluid communication and arranged in parallel to be cooled by the radiator. | 08-07-2014 |
20150060168 | DUCT FOR HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY AIR COOLING EXHAUST AND RECIRCULATION - A vehicle is provided including a battery pack with an exhaust port, an air extractor spaced away from the exhaust port, and other vehicle components. A cargo tub and one or more trim panels are arranged to define a duct spanning from the exhaust port, across the vehicle and to an air extractor spaced away from the exhaust port. Air flows along the duct en route to outside the vehicle via the air extractor. The vehicle may also include a cabin and an inlet to the cabin spaced away from the exhaust port. The cargo tub and one or more trim panels may also be arranged to define a recirculation path from the duct to the inlet such that a portion of the air exiting the exhaust port flows along the recirculation path to the cabin via the inlet. | 03-05-2015 |
