20080200837 | DISPOSABLE, CLOSED BLOOD SAMPLING SYSTEM FOR USE IN MEDICAL CONDUIT LINE - A disposable, closed fluid sampling system for use with a medical conduit line, especially for taking blood samples from a pressure monitoring line. The conduit line has at least one fluid sampling site interposed between a distal segment of tubing and a proximal segment of tubing. The system includes a disposable subsystem having a bypass cannula adapted to engage the sampling site, a reservoir for drawing a prime volume of fluid past the sampling site, and a fluid sampling container. A 3-way stopcock may connect the reservoir, bypass cannula, and sampling vessel for controlling the sampling procedure. The bypass cannula may simultaneously place the subsystem into fluid communication with an inner chamber of the sampling site and exclude the proximal segment of the conduit line. Alternatively, a stopcock immediately adjacent the sampling site in the proximal segment may be utilized. A method of using the system includes attaching the disposable subsystem, opening the reservoir to the distal segment while excluding the proximal segment, drawing a prime volume of fluid into the reservoir, opening the sampling vessel to the distal segment and drawing a sample, re-infusing the prime volume into the distal segment, and removing and discarding the subsystem. The reservoir remains attached between the prime volume draw and re-infusion and is thus “closed.” | 08-21-2008 |

The capacitance of the capacitance sensor may be correlated with fluid content and be used to identify urine volume and flow rate. Another high resolution, low cost flow meter is placed in line with drainage tubing and uses a capacitance sensor to measure fluid output without collecting the fluid. Other low cost urine monitoring devices use pressure based or weight based measurement sensors to measure volume and flow rate. | 02-25-2016 |
20160051177 | Dynamic Urine Monitor and Dynamic Urine Monitoring Instrument - This invention provides a dynamic urine monitor. The dynamic urine monitor comprises a case, inside which is equipped with a urine collection device, a pipeline for flowing the urine into the urine collection device, and a measurement system for dynamically measuring the urine. The measurement system comprises a weight measurement subsystem, a density measurement subsystem, and an outlet-inlet module. The weight measurement subsystem comprises a weight sensor and a weight information ADC; the weight sensor dynamically measures the urine weight of the urine collection device. The density measurement subsystem comprises a density sensor and a density information ADC. The density sensor dynamically measures the urine density and it is serially connected with the upstream pipeline of the urine collection device. The outlet-inlet module is used to exchange the information of the weight information ADC and with density information ADC with outside. | 02-25-2016 |
20160074018 | Urine Specimen Collection Kit With Retractable/Adjustable Handle and Sponge - This invention is comprised of: (i) a clear, measured, tubular specimen collection container; and (ii) a thin retractable/adjustable handle that consists of a telescopic middle stem with attached twist-on cap at one end and an absorbent, sterile sponge at the other end. For specimen collection, the handle is fully extended to its maximum length and the sponge placed in the urine stream of a test subject for several seconds. The sponge is then inserted into the specimen collection container, which has a fixed, built-in sieve located in its lower half, with a center slit for urine dipstick testing. The saturated sponge is gently pressed against the sieve to collapse the retractable handle to its shortest length, while the cap is twisted close, sealing the specimen container. The action of twisting the cap to seal the container compresses the sponge against the sieve, causing urine to be expressed into the lower part of the specimen collection container. | 03-17-2016 |

A system may include a collection container and a specimen collection portion removably coupled to the collection container. A system may be configured to include a base portion and a specimen collection portion extending from the base portion, the base portion and the specimen collection portion being a single monolithic piece and arranged to form a substantially bent cylinder shape. A system may include a base portion and a specimen collection portion extending from the base portion formed from a single monolithic piece in which the base portion has a substantially cylindrical shape and the specimen collection portion has a substantially funnel shape. | 03-24-2016 |
20160089118 | Urine Specimen Collection Device - A urine specimen collection device that aids in positioning a standard urine specimen cup in a urine flow path to avoid inadvertent contact between the user's hands and the urine being collected. A standard specimen collection cup is insertable through an aperture disposed in a cup holder portion of the device. The aperture is preferably expandable from a first size to a larger second size when a specimen cup is inserted and is preferably configured to support the cup in a position where around 50% or more of the height of the cup is disposed on an underside of the cup holder body. The cup holder end of the device may bend at an angle between about 120° and 170° relative to a handle end of the device when a specimen cup is inserted through the aperture. Optional handle extensions may be used to further elongate the device. | 03-31-2016 |
20160100784 | SAMPLING DEVICE - A sampling device for a sampling container. A pair of elongate flexible arms extend from a side wall away from a bottom end. The arms being oppositely located across a base chamber. A lower member has a flange and an aperture. A collar extends from the flange and is adapted to retain an end of a spring. An elongate cover has a first end and a second end. The first end being adapted in use to connect to a base and the second end being adapted in use to connect to an upper member. The upper and lower members are adapted to move along the axis by the positioning of a sampling container in the sampling chamber and the application of a force towards a base, permits a needle or blood bag tube located within a connector to discharge liquid into a sampling container. | 04-14-2016 |
20160100825 | Device to facilitate urine specimen collection - A urine collection system comprised of a plastic liner that releasably mounts to the toilet bowl, rim, or seat with a basin in the center thereof for the collection of urine. The basin has a stopped port to drain the urine into a standard specimen container. The system may be sized to fit a toddler potty or may be sized for a full-sized toilet. | 04-14-2016 |
20160113562 | Method of Diagnosing Urological Disorders - Parametrical analysis of uroflowmetry test results to identify urological disorders particularly to distinguish men who have low urinary tract disorder/benign prostatic hyperplasia from those who have overactive bladder. Primary urine flow dynamic parameters and secondary urine flow dynamic parameters are calculated. Patient's urological disorders can be assessed by comparing the primary and secondary urine flow dynamic parameters with a library or database of comparable data derived from healthy or normal individuals as well as comparable data derived from individuals afflicted with specific urological disorders. A predictive model of lower urinary tract function disorders can be developed from existing reference primary and secondary urine flow dynamic parameters. The model allows for complex analysis and objective disease prediction. | 04-28-2016 |
