20160136041 | ORAL MOUTHPIECE AND METHOD FOR THE USE THEREOF - The present invention relates generally to an oral device, or mouthpiece, for delivering a fluid to the mouth or oropharynx of a user, and to a pneumatic vibrating element. In one embodiment, the oral device includes an intraoral portion, an inlet line and the pneumatic vibrating element. The pneumatic vibrating element may include a shell defining a cavity and an inlet portion in fluid communication with the cavity. The inlet portion may be in fluid communication with the inlet line. A user interface is coupled to the shell and closes the cavity. Methods of dispensing a fluid using the oral device, and/or using the pneumatic vibrating element, are also provided. | 05-19-2016 |
20140194792 | SWALLOWING AIR PULSE THERAPY MOUTHPIECE AND METHOD FOR THE USE THEREOF - An oral appliance for administering a stimulus, such as a substance, to the mouth of a user includes a flexible tube having an inlet portion, a first curved portion forming an ear loop connected to the inlet portion, a second curved portion forming a lip bend connected to the first curved portion, and an outlet portion extending from the second curved portion. Alternatively, a mouthpiece for delivering a substance to the mouth of a user includes a housing having an inlet portion, a riser portion extending upwardly from the inlet portion and a curved outlet portion. A flexible tube is coupled to the housing. A method of delivering a substance to a predetermined location in a user's mouth includes disposing a flexible tube between a row of teeth and an interior surface of a cheek. The flexible tube has an exit port positioned in a rear portion of the user's mouth. No portion of the flexible tube is disposed between the upper and lower teeth of the user such that the upper and lower teeth can be closed against each other. The method further includes dispensing a substance through the exit port. | 07-10-2014 |
20140179601 | FGF-9 AND ITS USE RELATING TO BLOOD VESSELS - There is provided a composition for controlling formation and/or stabilization of a blood vessel comprising a first isolated nucleic acid molecule that encodes a FGF-9 polypeptide and optionally one or more isolated nucleic acid molecule that encodes another angiogenic polypeptide. There is provided a composition for controlling formation and/or stabilization of a blood vessel comprising administering an effective amount of a composition comprising an isolated FGF-9 polypeptide and one or more other angiogenic polypeptides. The compositions provided herein may be useful for controlling angiogenesis and/or vasculogenesis. | 06-26-2014 |

20090170213 | High-Throughput Screening of Enantiomeric Excess (EE) - The present invention provides a method for high-throughput screening of enantiomeric excess (ee), comprising synthesizing a sensor made from an aggregate of gold nanoparticles whose surfaces have been elaborated with a chiral “host” that includes two optically pure binaphthol groups linked together by a diethanolamine bridge that is tethered via nitrogen to its associated gold nanoparticle, and in which aggregate the individual particles are held together by a bridging chiral “di-guest,” which contains an amino acid functionality at both ends and which interacts with the surface-bound hosts through hydrogen bonds. To screen, one adds a chiral analyte, which may be the product of an asymmetric catalytic reaction, or some other chiral species, in the form of a scalemic solution to a solution containing the aforemeritioned aggregate wherein one enantiomer of the analyte competes effectively with the “di-guest” for the “host,” while the other does not, and wherein a diastereoselective dispersion of the aggregate occurs, which brings about a large shift in the naked-eye-visible plasmon resonance absorption band of the gold nanoparticles, from a long wavelength for the aggregated nanoparticles to a shorter wavelength for the dispersed particles, and wherein the extent of the colour change is indicative of the degree to which the aggregate is dispersed and provides a rapid and effective measure of the ee of the chiral analyte. | 07-02-2009 |
