20140248298 | BIORESORABLE POLYMER MATRICES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME - Bioactive agents are delivered to a body site in need of the same by providing a first aliquot portion of a reaction mixture which includes an aldehydic polymer solution, and a second aliquot portion of a reaction which includes a cross-linking hydrazide and a bioactive agent. The first and second aliquot portions may be mixed (e.g., by expelling such portions from respective syringe barrels) to form the reaction mixture thereof. The thus formed reaction mixture may then be installed at the body site whereby the reaction mixture is allowed to solidify in situ within about 1 to 10 minutes into a reaction product comprised of a hydrazide cross-linked oxidized aldehydic polymer matrix with the bioactive agent entrapped therein. | 09-04-2014 |
20130245549 | BIORESORABLE DRUG DELIVERY MATRICES BASED ON CROSS-LINKED POLYSACCHARIDES, DOSAGE FORMS DESIGNED FOR DELAYED/CONTROLLED RELEASE - Bioactive agents are embedded in a cross-linked dextran and coated with a bioresorbable polymer. When implanted in a mammal, the coated cross-linked dextran composition produces controlled release of the embedded bioactive agent. | 09-19-2013 |
20130237614 | BIORESORABLE POLYMER MATRICES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME - A kit for forming a bioerodible composition is provided with a first aliquot portion of a reaction mixture having an aldehydic polymer solution, and a second aliquot portion of a reaction mixture having solids which include a cross-linking hydrazide. When mixed, the first and second aliquot portions of the reaction mixture react at a pH of 4 to 6 to form a solidified bioerodible composition within about 1 to about 10 minutes, to form a hydrazide cross-linked aldehydic polymer matrix. The bioerodable composition may be usefully employed to seal and/or treat wounds (e.g., a surgical incision). | 09-12-2013 |
20110318416 | BIORESORBABLE POLYMER MATRICES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME - A bioerodible composition for delivery of a bioactive agent is the reaction product of a reaction mixture which includes an oxidized dextran solution, and a mixture of solids containing a dihydrazide, a bioactive agent, and optionally a pH adjusting agent in an amount sufficient to achieve a pH of the reaction mixture of 6 or less. The composition may include a release agent for the controlled release of the bioactive agent from the composition. A bioactive agent may therefore be administered to a body site in need of the same by providing a first aliquot portion of a reaction mixture comprising an oxidized dextran solution, and a second aliquot portion of a reaction mixture comprising a mixture of solids comprised of a dihydrazide, a bioactive agent, and a solid acid which is present in an amount sufficient to achieve a pH of the reaction mixture of 6 or less, mixing the first and second aliquot portions to form the reaction mixture thereof, and thereafter installing the reaction mixture at the body site and allowing a solidified bioerodible drug delivery composition to be formed thereby in situ. The present invention may be provided in the form of a kit comprised of a double syringe which respectively contains the first and second aliquot portions of the reaction mixture so that the same may be mixed just prior to use. | 12-29-2011 |
