Abstract:
A chin/neck lifting device is provided comprising a flesh-colored or clear
flexible fabric and/or elastic material strip with adhesive pads
structured to removably adhere to the skin at the back of a person's neck
so as to retain the skin of the neck and face region in a lifted position
without surgery. An adjustment clasp, buckle or other tightening means is
incorporated to tighten and adjust tension of the elongated flexible
fabric or elastic material. The chin/neck lifting device may be hidden
beneath a shirt or blouse collar or a person's hair so as to be not
visible to others.Claims:
1. A chin/neck lifting device which stretches the skin of the neck and
face to provide a more youthful appearance without the need for surgery,
the device comprising:an elongated thin strip of flexible fabric and/or
elastic material, containing end portions for engagement with the skin on
the back of a person's neck, adhesive material coating the inside surfaces
of said end portions for adhering said end portions to portions of the
skin located on the back of the user's neck, anda central portion of said
elongated thin strip of flexible fabric and/or elastic material void of
such adhesive.
2. The chin/neck lifting device of claim 1, wherein the elongated thin strip is flesh-colored.
3. The chin/neck lifting device of claim 1, wherein the elongated thin strip is clear, translucent or transparent.
4. The chin/neck lifting device of claim 1, wherein the elongated thin strip is engaged with the skin on the back of the user's neck so as to be hidden by a shirt or blouse collar, or by the user's hair.
5. The chin/neck lifting device of claim 1, wherein a clasp, buckle or other tightening means is incorporated into the elongated flexible fabric or elastic material, allowing the user to tighten or adjust the tension of the device.
Description:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001]The present invention relates to the field of cosmetic improvement of a person's appearance. More particularly, this invention relates to a device that simulates a neck or chin lifting surgical operation without the necessity of any surgery.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002]The increased interest in obtaining a more youthful appearance has increased the demand for rejuvenation surgery. As the population ages, more people are becoming concerned about maintaining a youthful appearance. Many people are anxious to obtain the benefits of cosmetic surgery, but wish to avoid the expense, pain, consumption of time and potential for unpleasant side effects associated with such surgical procedures.
[0003]Devices that lift or hyper-extend the skin of a persons face in order to provide a more youthful appearance have been developed in the past. Devices such as those disclosed by U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,154,071; 3,524,443; 3,736,925; 3,782,372; 4,239,037; 4,995,379 and 6,971,397 address these concerns. These patents, however, present difficulties in effecting the proper tension adjustment and attaching the device to a person's head. In addition, prior art devices fail to provide a natural look, are difficult to apply and uncomfortable to wear. In addition, the devices described require some sort of camouflage such as a wig to hide their unsightly appearance.
[0004]An improved device is needed which is specifically designed to provide a more youthful appearance by stretching the skin around the face and neck, and also is economical and easy to use. Such a device must be non-obtrusive and practical.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005]It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device which stretches the skin of the neck and face to provide a more youthful appearance without the need for surgery.
[0006]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device with the advantages of prior art devices but which is more natural looking.
[0007]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device which is easy to apply.
[0008]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device which is comfortable to wear.
[0009]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device which incorporates a clasp, buckle or other tightening means to adjust the tension of the elongated flexible fabric or elastic material.
[0010]It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved chin/neck lifting device which may be worn under a shirt or blouse collar or covered by a person's hair so as not to be visible to others.
[0011]These and other features of the invention can be further understood by reference to the following drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012]FIG. 1a is a perspective view of the chin/neck lifting device in use, removably attached to the back of the user's neck.
[0013]FIG. 1b is a perspective view of the chin/neck lifting device in use, illustrating how the device may be concealed by clothing or hair of the user.
[0014]FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the chin/neck lifting device, showing the backing sheet partly peeled off.
[0015]FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the chin/neck lifting device, showing the backing sheet entirely peeled off.
[0016]FIG. 4a is a view of the front of the user's throat, showing how hanging folds of skin, commonly known as a "turkey neck" produce an appearance most often associated with the elderly. The device is not visible from this perspective.
[0017]FIG. 4b is a view of the front of the user's throat after application of the chin/neck-lifting device, illustrating how the device produces a more youthful appearance.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0018]During the course of this description like numerals will be used to identify like elements according to the different figures that illustrate the invention. One embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIGS. 1a, 1b, 2 and 3, 4a and 4b. The chin/neck-lifting device is designated generally by the numeral 10.
[0019]The chin/neck-lifting device 10 is preferably made of a clear or flesh-colored flexible fabric and/or elastic material and includes an adhesive tab 4 to which is attached a removeably attached backing sheet 6, in the manner of a preformed adhesive bandage of the general type widely sold in the United States under the trademark "BAND AID" by the Johnson & Johnson Company, and an adhesive tab 7 to which is attached to the removeably attached backing sheet 6. A clasp, buckle or other tightening means 8 is incorporated to tighten and adjust tension of the elongated flexible fabric or elastic material.
[0020]The user applies the chin/neck lifting device 10 by removing the backing sheet 6, and applying the adhesive layer 7 to the back of the side of the user's neck, two to three inches below the ear, stretching device 10 around the back of the user's neck, and applying adhesive tab 4 under the opposite ear to create tension pulling back hanging loose skin on the chin and/or neck to produce tighter smoother skin in the front of the neck. The tension of the chin/neck lifting device 10 may be adjusted using the clasp, buckle or other tightening means 8 incorporated into the elongated flexible fabric or elastic material.
[0021]It is to be understood that variations and modifications of the present invention may be made without departing from the scope thereof. It is also to be understood that the present invention is not to be limited by the specific embodiments disclosed herein, but only in accordance with the appended claims when read in light of the foregoing specification.
