BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
[0004] The present disclosure relates generally to a cover for a mat, more specifically a multipurpose cover for a water mat.
Description of the related art.
[0005] Foam based water mats are in common use. However, current mats have several issues such as rolling of mat while in use on a water surface, balancing rolling and stability and ability to connect with other mats to provide a larger surface.
[0006] Therefore, there is a need for a universal cover that overcomes one of more of the above limitations.
[0007] BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] In accordance with the teachings of the present disclosure, a universal cover for a water mat is provided. The universal cover has a top cover and a bottom cover that can be secured together by zippers. The bottom cover has a plurality of parallel buoyant bars and the top cover has metal structures to securely hold magnetic accessories.

[0020] Additional features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and appended claims, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0021] Reference will now be made in detail to selected embodiments of the present disclosure in conjunction with accompanying figures. The embodiments described herein are not intended to limit the scope of the disclosure, and the present disclosure should not be construed as limited to the embodiments described. This disclosure may be embodied in different forms without departing from the scope and spirit of the disclosure. It should be understood that the accompanying figures are intended and provided to illustrate embodiments of the disclosure described below and are not necessarily drawn to scale. In the drawing, like numbers refer to elements throughout, and thicknesses and dimensions of some components may be exaggerated to provide better clarity and ease of understanding.
[0022] It should be noted that the terms "first", "second", and the like, herein do not denote any order, ranking, quantity, or importance, but rather are used to distinguish one element from another. Further, the terms "a" and "an" herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced items.
[0023] FIG. 1a and 1b illustrate a top cover 100a and a bottom cover 100b of a universal mat. The top cover 100a and the bottom cover 100b collectively referred as the universal mat cover.
[0024] The top cover 100a is shown to include a top cover 105, a first side flap 110 and a second side flap 115. The top cover 100a also has a top zipper 120 on its periphery. Similarly, the bottom cover 100b as a bottom portion 125, a third side flap 130, a fourth side flap 135 and a bottom zipper 140 on its periphery. It will be understood to a person ordinarily skilled in the art that a zipper has two parts and each zipper is arranged in such a way that one part of each zipper is on the top cover 100a and the other part is on the bottom cover 100b.
[0025] The top cover 100a and the bottom cover 100b are zipped together by engaging four zippers together such that a first zip part 120 is engaged with a second zip part 140, a third zip part 120a is engaged with a fourth zip part 180, a fifth zip part 150 is engaged with a sixth zip part 140a and a seventh zip part 160 is engaged with a eighth zip part 170 zip. The top, the bottom and the four sides of a water mat are fully covered by the universal mat.
[0026] FIG. 2 illustrates a cross-sectional view 200 of a water mat 205 with the top cover 100a covering the top surface and two side surfaces of the water mat 205. Typically the water mat 205 is a foam mat, however, it can be made of several layers including a waterproofing coating or any other durable and lightweight material.
[0027] FIG. 3 illustrates a cross-sectional view 300 of the water mat 205 with a bottom cover 100b covering the bottom surface and two side surfaces of the water mat 205, For example, if the top cover 100a covers two side surfaces of the water mat 205, then the bottom cover 100b covers other two side surfaces of the water mat 205. In another example, if the top cover 100a covers one side surface of the water mat 205, then the bottom cover 100b may cover the other three side surfaces of the water mat 205.
[0028] FIG. 4 illustrates a cross-sectional view 400 of the water mat 205 secured by a universal cover 100 (the top cover 100a and the bottom cover 100b). The top cover 100a and the bottom cover 100b are engaged at the periphery by the top zipper 120 and the bottom zipper 140. The universal cover 100 tightly secures the water mat 205 and may be made of ultralight nylon fabric.
[0029] FIG. 5 illustrates a bottom view 500 of the bottom cover 100b that has a plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 (shown as parallel black strips). The plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 may be made of plastic material and may be sewn into the universal cover 100 allowing the water mat 205 to roll up while providing stability. The plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 evenly distribute the weight to prevent the water mat 205 from getting folded while being used on water surface. The plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 may be able to slide into a plurality of sleeve sewn on the bottom of the universal cover 100. They may be sewed such that the plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 does not fall out. Alternatively, the plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 may be attached to the bottom of the universal cover 100 by any other means such as an adhesive.
[0030] Typically the plurality of parallel buoyant bars 505 are 6 feet.times.1.5 to 3 inches.times.0.25 to 0.75 inches, but the dimensions may vary depending on the size of the water mat 205. Further, the universal cover 100 may have a plurality of handles 510 on the sides of the universal cover 100. The plurality of handles 510 may also be at the center of the bottom cover 100b (not show in any FIG) to help rolling up the water mat 205. Alternatively, the plurality of handles 510 may be placed at any other location on the bottom cover 100b as long it aids as rolling up of the water mat 205.
[0031] In addition, thin metal discs may be sewn into the top surface of the universal cover 100 at a few locations. It will allow magnetic accessories such as a can holder to stick to the water mat 205.
[0032] FIG. 6 illustrates a cross-sectional view 600 of the water mat 205 with the universal cover 100 that has velcro secured flaps 605 on the periphery of the universal cover 100. When not in use, the velcro secured flaps 605 can be attached it its own water mat 205 as shown in the FIG. 6.
[0033] FIG. 7 illustrates a cross-sectional view 700 of two water mats 705 and 710 covered by universal covers 715 and 720 and each universal cover having velcro secured flaps 725 and 730. To be able to connect the two water mats 705 and 710, one end of the velcro secured flaps 725 and 730 are detached on their own respective water mats as shown the FIG. 7.
[0034] FIG. 8 illustrates a cross-sectional view 800 of the two water mats 705 and 710 secured to each other by velcro secured flaps 725 and 730. The velcro secured flaps 725 and 730 is shown to connect the water mats 705 and 710. Alternatively, velcro secured flaps can be used to connect any number of water mats to form a large combined water mat.
[0035] FIG. 9 illustrates a top view 900 of the water mat 205 tied to a boat 905 using adjustable ropes 910 and 915 that is tied to handles 920 and 925 on the universal cover 100. The adjustable ropes 910 and 915 are connected to handles 920 and 925 that allow connecting the water mat 205 to the boat 905. The water mat 205 can then be easily pulled by the boat 905.
[0036] The present disclosure provides a universal cover for a water mat that allows water mat to roll up while providing stability. The universal cover enables several water mats to be connected to each other. In addition, the universal cover allows the water mat to be attached to a boat.
