Abstract:
Hairbrush bristles become filled with hair and accumulate residue. It is
difficult, if not practically impossible, to clean the brush because of
the close proximity of the bristles. An invention is claimed herein which
enables the bristles to be moved apart such that there is sufficient
clearance to easily clean them.Claims:
1. A hairbrush comprising a plurality of distanceable bristle segments,
each said segment comprising a plurality of bristles substantially
arranged in a single row, said segments being joined together by
releasable means; whereby any said segment may be moved relative to any
adjacent said segment; thereby providing access for cleaning said
bristles.
2. The hairbrush of claim 1, wherein at least one said bristle segment comprises a handle.
Description:
PRIOR ART
[0001] I am aware of no prior art which relates to the invention claimed herein.
[0002] Distancing one row of bristles from another row of bristles is sufficient to allow for cleaning access. Therefore, the invention claimed herein groups the bristles of the hairbrush into distanceable segments which each comprise a single row of bristles. FIG. 1 shows the hairbrush with the plurality of bristle segments 1 in a close position for the purpose of brushing hair. FIG. 2 shows the plurality of bristle segments 1 in a distanced position for the purpose of cleaning. Each segment 1 further comprises a handle 2, although the brush handle may not necessarily comprise one or more of the segments 1. The plurality of segments 1 are joined together by releasable means embodied as a screw 3. Such means serve to join the segments 1 together in a close position and enable release of the segments 1 to a distanced position. Releasing the screw 3 facilitates complete separation of the segments 1, although distancing may also be accomplished without complete separation, such as by rotating the segments 1 relative to each other about the screw 3. Such an axis of rotation may be at any other location along the segment 1 parallel to the axis of the screw 3. Any of various common means may be utilized to releasably join, align, and prevent relative movement of the segments 1, including but not limited to threaded fasteners, elastic bands, magnets, dowel pins, clips, snaps, slots, notches, grooves, dimples, and corresponding protrusions. Such elements may be integral with one or more of the segments 1 or may be separate components unto themselves. Various embodiments will facilitate a hairbrush comprising distanceable bristle segments whereby one row of bristles may be moved away from an adjacent row of bristles to provide access for cleaning.
