Abstract:

A personal portable cooling device that produces cold air using a fan and cooling chip. The device is powered by a battery, solar panel or a combination of battery and solar panel. The cold air is directed towards the user's head perimeter through a circular pipe with vent holes around the perimeter.

Claims:

1. A personal portable cooling device, comprising: Wearable cap; Electric power source of battery, solar panel or a combination of both battery and solar panel; A fan to generate air flow; A cooling chip; Control devices to switch the power on and off; Supporting structure to direct the cold air towards the user.

Description:

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

STATEMENT REGARDING FEDERALLY SPONSORED RESEARCH OR DEVELOPMENT

[0002] Not Applicable.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

[0003] The present invention pertains to the arts of a personal portable cooling device and, more specifically, to a wearable cap that uses a fan and cooling chip to produce cold air to cool the user.

2. Discussion of the Prior Art

[0004] The typical personal portable cooling devices are fans, either electric or manual. There are a few drawbacks of the conventional fans. First, they typically require the user to hold by the bands, which may be inconvenient in many circumstances. Second, the flowing air from the fan is generally at the ambient temperature. So the cooling effect of the fan is not strong.

[0005] A need exists for a more effective cooling device for people exposed to high temperature.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The present invention is a wearable cap that consists of an electric power source, a fan, a cooling chip and the supporting assembly structure.

[0007] The power source is either a battery, a solar panel to generate electricity from sunlight, or a combination of both. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the power source is a rechargeable battery that can be charged in advance and replenished with the power from the solar panel when the battery is drained. There is a fan and thermoelectric cooling chip assembly connected to the power source. The fan blows air over both sides of the thermoelectric chip. The heat from the hot side of the chip is dissipated to the open space. The air passing through the cold side of the thermoelectric chip is directed to a circular pipe around the perimeter of the user's head. There are vent holes throughout the pipe and directed towards the user's head perimeter.

[0008] Accordingly, an objective of the present invention is to produce and blow cold air onto the user's face and head perimeter when the user is exposed to high temperature.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009] FIG. 1 is a top view of the cap;

[0010] FIG. 2 is a bottom view of the cap;

[0011] FIG. 3 is a side view of the fan and cooling chip assembly.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0012] Referring to the drawings, FIG. 1 shows the cap viewed from the top. The fan and cooling chip assembly is connected to the battery. The cap surface can be optionally made of solar panel to provide additional power.

[0013] FIG. 2 shows the cap viewed from the bottom. The cold air outlet from the fan and cooling assembly is connected to a circular pipe around the head perimeter of the cap. There are vent holes throughout the pipe to direct cold air to the user's face and other parts along the head perimeter.

[0014] FIG. 3 shows the fan and cooling chip assembly. The air from the fan is split into two streams. The top stream blows over the hot side of the thermoelectric chip and dissipates the heat into open space. The bottom stream blows over the cold side of the chip and directs the cold air into the circular pipe with vent holes.

[0015] While the forms of apparatus disclosed herein constitute preferred embodiments of the present invention, those knowledgeable in the art understand that the invention is not limited to these precise forms of apparatus, and that changes may be made therein without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
