Abstract:
A curtain saddle assembly for mounting a curtain rod to an existing
window blind includes a pair of brackets. Each of the brackets engages a
window blind that is mounted in a window. A support is removably coupled
to the brackets when the brackets are positioned on the window blind. The
support has a saddle integrated therein. A curtain rod is positionable in
the saddle. In this way the curtain rod can be mounted to the existing
window blind.Claims:
1. A curtain saddle assembly being configured to mount a curtain rod and
curtains to an existing window blind, said assembly comprising: a pair of
brackets, each of said brackets engaging a window blind that is mounted
in a window; and a support being removably coupled to said brackets when
said brackets are positioned on the window blind, said support having a
saddle being integrated therein, said saddle having a curtain rod being
positioned therein wherein support is configured to mount the curtain rod
to the existing window blind.
2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein each of said brackets has a central portion extending between a top portion and a bottom portion, each of said top portion and said bottom portion extending along a line being oriented perpendicular to said central portion, said top portion and said bottom portion extending in opposite directions from said central portion with respect to each other.

The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said brackets are oriented having said bottom portion of each of said brackets being directed toward each other, said bottom portion of each of said brackets abutting a bottom side of the window blind, said central portion of each of said brackets extending upwardly along a respective one of a back side and a front side of the window blind, said top portion of each of said brackets lying on a horizontal plane.

The assembly according to claim 3, wherein said support has a first end, a second end and an outer surface extending therebetween, said support being elongated between said first end and said second end, said outer surface having a top side and a bottom side, said support having a bend thereon defining a first portion forming an angle with a second portion, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end, said second portion having said second end being associated therewith.
5. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein said second portion has a curve being positioned between said bend and said second end to define said saddle.

The assembly according to claim 4, wherein said support has an adjustment slot extending through said top side and said bottom side of said outer surface, said adjustment slot extending substantially between said first end and said bend, said support being positionable on said brackets having said bottom side corresponding to said first portion resting on said top portion of each of said brackets.

The assembly according to claim 6, further comprising a pair of fasteners, each of said fasteners being extendable through said adjustment slot in said support and engaging said top portion of a respective one of said brackets for retaining said support on said brackets having said saddle being slidable toward or away from the blind.
8. A curtain saddle assembly being configured to mount a curtain rod and curtains to an existing window blind, said assembly comprising: a pair of brackets, each of said brackets engaging a window blind that is mounted in a window, each of said brackets having a central portion extending between a top portion and a bottom portion, each of said top portion and said bottom portion extending along a line being oriented perpendicular to said central portion, said top portion and said bottom portion extending in opposite directions from said central portion with respect to each other, said brackets being oriented having said bottom portion of each of said brackets being directed toward each other, said bottom portion of each of said brackets abutting a bottom side of the window blind, said central portion of each of said brackets extending upwardly along a respective one of a back side and a front side of the window blind, said top portion of each of said brackets lying on a horizontal plane; a support being removably coupled to said brackets when said brackets are positioned on the window blind, said support having a saddle being integrated therein, said saddle having a curtain rod being positioned therein wherein support is configured to mount the curtain rod to the existing window blind, said support having a first end, a second end and an outer surface extending therebetween, said support being elongated between said first end and said second end, said outer surface having a top side and a bottom side, said support having a bend thereon defining a first portion forming an angle with a second portion, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end, said second portion having said second end being associated therewith, said second portion having a curve being positioned between said bend and said second end to define said saddle, said support having an adjustment slot extending through said top side and said bottom side of said outer surface, said adjustment slot extending substantially between said first end and said bend, said support being positionable on said brackets having said bottom side corresponding to said first portion resting on said top portion of each of said brackets; and a pair of fasteners, each of said fasteners being extendable through said adjustment slot in said support and engaging said top portion of a respective one of said brackets for retaining said support on said brackets having said saddle being slidable toward or away from the blind.

[0006] The disclosure relates to saddle devices and more particularly pertains to a new saddle device for mounting a curtain rod to an existing window blind.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of brackets. Each of the brackets engages a window blind that is mounted in a window. A support is removably coupled to the brackets when the brackets are positioned on the window blind. The support has a saddle integrated therein. A curtain rod is positionable in the saddle. In this way the curtain rod can be mounted to the existing window blind.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new saddle device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
[0017] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the curtain saddle assembly 10 generally comprises a pair of brackets 12 that each engages a window blind 14 which is mounted in a window 16. The window blind 14 may be a retractable window blind 14 that has a rectangular cross section. The window 16 may be a window in a building, such as a house or an office. Each of the brackets 12 has a central portion 18 extending between a top portion 20 and a bottom portion 22. Each of the top portion 20 and the bottom portion 22 extends along a line that is oriented perpendicular to the central portion 18.
[0018] The top portion 20 and the bottom portion 22 extend in opposite directions from the central portion 18 with respect to each other. The brackets 12 are oriented having the bottom portion 22 of each of the brackets 12 being directed toward each other. The bottom portion 22 of each of the brackets 12 abuts a bottom side 24 of the window blind 14. The central portion 18 of each of the brackets 12 extends upwardly along a respective one of a back side 26 and a front side 28 of the window blind 14. The top portion 20 of each of the brackets 12 lies on a horizontal plane when the brackets 12 are positioned on the window blind 14.
[0019] A support 30 is removably coupled to the brackets 12 when the brackets 12 are positioned on the window blind 14. The support 30 has a saddle 32 that is integrated therein. Additionally, a curtain rod 34 is positionable in the saddle 32 when the support 30 is coupled to the brackets 12. In this way support 30 facilitates the curtain rod 34 to be mounted to the existing window blind 14. Thus, a curtain rod 34 can be positioned to extend across a window 16 without the need to drill holes in an adjacent wall for mounting traditional curtain rod supports.
[0020] The support 30 has a first end 36, a second end 38 and an outer surface 40 extending therebetween. The support 30 is elongated between the first end 36 and the second end 38, and the outer surface 40 has a top side 42 and a bottom side 44. The support 30 has a bend 46 thereon defining a first portion 48 forming an angle with a second portion 50. The bend 46 is positioned closer to the second end 38 than the first end 36, and the second end 38 is associated with the second portion 50. The second portion 50 has a curve 52 that is positioned between the bend 46 and the second end 38 to define the saddle 32.
[0021] The support 30 has an adjustment slot 54 extending through the top side 42 and the bottom side 44 of the outer surface 40. The adjustment slot 54 extends substantially between the first end 36 and the bend 46. The support 30 is positionable on the brackets 12 having the bottom side 24 corresponding to the first portion 48 resting on the top portion 20 of each of the brackets 12. A pair of fasteners 56 is provided and each of the fasteners 56 is extendable through the adjustment slot 54 in the support 30 to engage the top portion 20 of a respective one of the brackets 12. In this way the support 30 is retained on the brackets 12 such that the saddle 32 is slidable toward or away from the blind 14. The fasteners 56 may comprise bolts or other type of releasable fastener.
[0022] In use, the fasteners 56 are extended through the adjustment slot 54 in the support 30 and the fasteners 56 are loosely tightened into the respective bracket 12. The brackets 12 are slid onto the window blind 14 and the brackets 12 are adjusted to compress against the window blind 14. The fasteners 56 are subsequently tightened to retain the brackets 12 and the support 30 on the window blind 14. In this way the saddle 32 is oriented to support 30 the curtain rod 34. Thus, the curtain rod 34 and an associated curtain can be mounted in the window 16 without the use of penetrating fasteners as is conventionally required. In this way a renter can mount curtains on windows in a rented living space without drilling holes in walls.
[0023] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
