Description:
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention relates to artificial nails. More particularly, it relates to removal of artificial nails.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Artificial nails, also known as fake nails, false nails, fashion nails, nail enhancements, acrylic nails, nail wraps, or nail extensions, are extensions placed over fingernails as fashion accessories. Some artificial nail designs attempt to mimic the appearance of real fingernails as closely as possible, while others may deliberately stray in favor of an artistic look.
[0003] Unlike most manicures, artificial nails require regular upkeep; it is recommended that they are attended to, on average, every two weeks, however they may last up to about one month..sup.[1]Nonetheless, their versatility in terms of shape and design and comparatively high durability are some advantages they hold over other types of manicures.
[0004] Acrylic nails help conceal or fix broken, damaged, short, or otherwise considered "undesirable" nail appearance. They also help prevent nail biting, breakage, and splits. They are used when people are not able to grow the length and strength of natural nails that they desire. This problem can be solved by using certain nail techniques such as nail tipping, sculptured nails, nail wrapping, or acrylic overlays. Acrylic nails often make natural nails thin when removed though are rather durable during wear.
[0005] The most common way to remove artificial nails are the steps of: (1) Clip the acrylic nails as short as possible; (2) filing away the top coat, nail polish or any color to avoid creating any mess or get your hands full of color; (3) Apply petroleum jelly on the skin surrounding the cuticles; (4) Now, soak the cotton pads in acetone and place it on your nails; (5) Tear a piece of aluminum and wrap it over the cotton pad or ball so that it stays in place; (6) Wait for 25-30 min; and (7) Pull the aluminum foil gently and the acrylic nail should come off with it, if you feel resistance, keep it wrapped for some more time. This is very inefficient as it may take several attempts to remove all aspects of the artificial nails as well as the use of chemicals which may be harmful especially long term.
[0006] In light of the foregoing, it would be desirable to devise an improved artificial nail removal process that provided more an efficient, healthy and safe way to remove artificial nails. It would also be advantageous to have a cost-effective process to remove the artificial nails.

[0012] Referring to FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, an illustrated view of an exemplary pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 for removing artificial nails from a person's finger is presented. The pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 is useful for providing a safe, efficient and cost-effective means to remove artificial nails. Also, the pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 is useful providing an apparatus that removes individual, and often times inaccurately performed, steps and provides an all in one solution for removal of artificial nails.
[0013] The pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 has a wrap 101, a pad 102, an interior portion 103 and a heating element 104 (shown in FIG. 1B).
[0014] The artificial removal apparatus 100 preferably has a shape being rectangular, but other shapes are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, square, oblong, trapezoidal, hexagonal, oval, round, etc. The pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 preferably has a length of four (4) inches, but other lengths are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, three (3) inches, four and one-half (4.5) inches, six (6) inches, etc. The pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 preferably has a height of two (2) inches, but other heights are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, three (3) inches, one and one-half (1.5) inches, two and one-fourth (2.25) inches, etc. The pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 preferably has a width of two (2) inches, but other widths are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, three (3) inches, one and one-half (1.5) inches, two and one-fourth (2.25) inches, etc.
[0015] The wrap 101 has the interior section 103, a top 105 and a bottom 108. The wrap 101 is preferably made of an aluminum foil material, but other materials are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, non-flammable paper, non-flammable plastic, etc. The top 105 of the wrap 101 has a middle portion 109.
[0016] The pad 102 has a bottom 106 and a top 107. The pad 102 is preferably made of an absorbent material, such as cotton, but other materials are hereby contemplated, including, but not limited to, poly-propylene, cotton blend, etc. The pad 102 preferably has a rectangular shape, but other shapes are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, square, oblong, oval, trapezoidal, etc. The pad 102 preferably has a length of two (2) inches, but other lengths are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, one and one-half (1.5) inches, three (3) inches, etc. The pad 102 preferably has a width of one (1) inches, but other widths are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, one-half (0.5) inches, one and one-half (1.5) inches, etc. The pad 102 preferably has a height of two (2) inches, but other heights are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, one and one-half (1.5) inches, three (3) inches, etc.
[0017] The bottom 106 of the pad 102 is securely coupled to the middle portion 109 of the top 105 of the wrap 101 by an adhesive material. The adhesive material is preferably aluminum tape, but other adhesive materials are hereby contemplated including, but not limited to, epoxy, glue, etc.
[0018] A removal chemical material is applied to the top 107 of the pad 102, such that the pad 102 fully absorbs the removal chemical material. The removal chemical material is preferably acetone, but other chemical materials may be used.
[0019] In FIG. 1B, the heating element 104 is configured to be in the interior portion 103 of the wrap 101. The heating element 104 preferably is activatable. The heating element 104 preferably contains one or more of the following elements: cellulose, iron, water, activatable carbon, vermiculite and salt.
[0020] To use, the pre-packaged artificial nail removal apparatus 100 is wrapped around a finger of a person where an artificial nail is desired to be removed. The heating element 104 is activated, commonly by breaking a seal allowing the chemicals to interact and thus emitting heat. The wrap 101 is left on breaking down adhesions from the artificial nail. The wrap 101 is then removed from the finger and the artificial nail resides now in the pad 102 on the interior 105 of the wrap 101. The wrap 101 can now be safely disposed.
