Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
[0001] The invention relates to power driven treadmills and more particularly to a multi-function exercise treadmill capable of allowing a user to do one of a plurality of exercises different from walking or running on a tread belt.
2. Description of Related Art
[0002] Exercise treadmills are widely used in fitness centers and homes. Typically, a user may walk or run on a motor driven tread belt while staying in the same place. The exercise is similar to walking or running on a road. But it increases about one third of a distance in comparison with walking or running on the road. Further, more energy is consumed in comparison with walking or running on the road in terms of the same distance.
[0003] However, a user can only walk or run on the tread belt of the conventional exercise treadmill while exercising (i.e., having a single function). Further, the conventional exercise treadmill is not adapted to join other exercise machines to implement as a multi-function exercise treadmill. Further, the conventional exercise treadmill is not adapted to take types of exercise equipment. This is very inconvenient in use. People are gradually not satisfied with the conventional exercise treadmills.
[0004] Thus, the need for improvement still exists.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0024] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 6C, a multi-function exercise treadmill 1 in accordance with the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below.
[0025] An underlying frame 3 includes two front uprights 31, an intermediate upright 32, two bent cross rails 33 each having an intermediate portion secured to the intermediate upright 32 and either end secured to the front upright 31 by driving a threaded fastener through a threaded hole 71 of a fastening plate 7 into the front upright 31, two side rails 34, a bent hand rail 35 mounted on top ends of the front uprights 31, and a control panel 36 mounted on an intermediate portion of the hand rail 35.
[0026] The underlying frame 3 further comprises a rack 5 mounted on the intermediate upright 32 between the cross rails 33, the rack 5 including a plurality of S-shaped cavities 6 with dumbbells 17 placed therein, and a plurality of pairs of bars 12 mounted on the intermediate upright 32 under the rack 5. A plurality of foam sleeves 4 each is mounted on the bar 12. A user may hook his or her feet on the foam sleeves 4 for exercising (e.g., doing push-ups).
[0027] An electric motor 16 is secured to the hand rail 35 under the control panel 36. A massaging strap 14 is driven by the electric motor 16. A tread belt 2 is rotatably mounted between the side rails 34 and driven by the electric motor 16. A user may run or walk on the tread belt 2 for exercising. Two rally ropes 13 each has one end releasably secured to the cross rail 33.
[0028] A support plate 8 is mounted on a top end of the intermediate upright 32 and includes a plurality of threaded holes 11. A base plate 9 includes a plurality of threaded holes 10. The support plate 8 and the base plate 9 are secured together by threading. The base plate 9 is secured to the electric motor 16 by means of a plurality of threaded fasteners 19.
[0029] The massaging strap 14 has two ends operatively connected to a motor shaft (not shown) of the electric motor 16 by means of two hollow, triangular fasteners 15 respectively. Two length adjustment members 20 are provided at left and right portions of the massaging strap 14 respectively. The massaging strap 14 includes a plurality of massaging members 18.
[0030] A user may use the length adjustment members 20 to adjust length of the massaging strap 14 prior to use. The length adjustment members 20 may be one of a plurality of forms as shown in FIGS. 5A, 5B and 5C. The massaging members 18 are releasably mounted and may be one of a plurality of forms as shown in FIGS. 6A, 6B and 6C.
[0031] It is noted that the hollow, triangular fasteners 15 ensure that the massaging strap 14 does not disengage from the electric motor 16 in operation. Further, the hollow, triangular fasteners 15 can be rotated in an angle between 0 and 360 degrees.
[0032] The massaging strap 14 is capable of massaging any desired body parts. Preferably, the massaging strap 14 is made of flexible material and is durable.
[0033] A Bluetooth MP3 player can be connected to the control panel 36 so that a user may do exercise while listening to music played by the Bluetooth MP3 player.
[0034] The invention has the following advantageous effects in comparison with the prior art: It is multi-functional. It has a simple structure. The underlying frame 3 has many frame elements capable of exercising feet, providing a space for placing dumbbells, releasably secured to the rally ropes 13, or releasably secured to the massaging strap 14. It eliminates problems including being single function, being not adapted to join other exercise devices, and being inconvenient in use associated with the conventional exercise treadmill.
[0035] While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
