Abstract:
A pump for a two wheeler tire comprises: a cylinder-piston unit for
generating compressed air that can be used to inflate a two wheeler tire;
a pump head that comprises a connecting mechanism for connecting to a
valve of the two wheeler tire; a tube that connects the pump head to the
cylinder-piston unit; a pedal mechanism that enables an actuation of the
cylinder-piston unit; a receiving element in which the tube can be
disposed in a storage position; and a manometer around which the tube
extends in the storage position. The tube connecting the pump head to the
cylinder-piston unit is designed so as to be spiral shaped.Claims:
1. A pump for a two wheeler tire, comprising: a cylinder-piston unit to
generate compressed air to inflate a two wheeler tire; a pump head
comprising a connecting mechanism that connects the pump head to a valve
of a two wheeler tire; a tube connecting the pump head to the
cylinder-piston unit, wherein the tube is spiral shaped; a pedal
mechanism to actuate the cylinder-piston unit; a receiving element into
which the tube is disposed in a storage position, and a manometer around
which the tube extends in the storage position.
2. The pump of claim 1, wherein: the receiving element is configured as an annular space that extends around the manometer, and the tube is disposed in the annular space in the storage position.
3. The pump of claim 1, wherein the tube, in the storage position, extends around the manometer in a plurality of loops.
4. The pump of claim 1, wherein: the pedal mechanism comprises two housing members that are pivotably attached to one another, and the cylinder-piston unit is actuated through a movement of the two housing members relative to one another.
5. The pump of claim 4, wherein a first of the two housing members is a base member configured to rest on the ground.
6. The pump of claim 5, wherein a second of the two housing members is moveable from a first position which extends from the first housing member at an angle other than 0.degree. and other than 180.degree. to a second position which rests at least partially on the first housing member.
7. The pump of claim 6, wherein the second of the two housing members in the first position extends from the first housing member at an angle between 30.degree. and 90.degree..
8. The pump of claim 6, wherein the second of the two housing members comprises a recess through which the manometer and/or the cylinder-piston unit extend at least partially.
9. The pump of claim 8, further comprising: a cover that at least partially closes the recess of the second housing member in the second position of the second housing member.
10. The pump of claim 9, wherein the cover is arranged on the receiving element or, in the alternative, extends away from the receiving element.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002] The disclosure relates to a pump for inflating a two wheeler tire.
BACKGROUND
[0003] A pump of the aforementioned type is known from WO 2015/145443 A1. This patent discloses a modular system comprising a pedal pump and a spiral shaped tube. In the case of pumps of this kind, the space required for storing the tube is often a problem.
SUMMARY
[0004] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is the provision of a pump of the aforementioned type, wherein the tube can be housed in a space saving manner or can be stored such that it is out of the way when the pump is not in use.
[0005] According to an example implementation, the pump comprises a tube and a receiving element into which the tube can be disposed in a storage position. In addition, the pump comprises a monometer and the tube extends around the manometer in the storage position. As a result, the tube is housed in such a manner that it takes up very little space and does not get in the way of the user.
[0006] The receiving element can be configured as an annular space that extends around the manometer and the tube is disposed in the annular space in the storage position. In particular, the tube in the storage position can extend around the manometer in a plurality of loops. The tube may be housed in the annular space, for example, in such a manner that an observer will hardly notice it. Furthermore, the tube is received comparatively easily and securely by the annular space, especially if the annular shape of the space corresponds to the loops of the tube.
[0007] The pedal mechanism may comprise two housing members that can be pivotably attached to one another, wherein a cylinder-piston unit is actuated through a movement of the two housing members relative to one another. In this implementation, a first of the two housing members may be a base member that rest on the ground, and a second of the two housing members can be rotated from a first position which extends from the first housing member at an angle other than 0.degree. and other than 180.degree., in particular, an angle between 30.degree. and 90.degree., to a second position which rests at least partially on the first housing member.
[0008] The second housing member may comprise a recess through which the manometer and/or the cylinder-piston unit can extend at least partially. In this case, the pump can comprise a cover that closes, at least partially, the recess of the second housing member in the second position of the second housing member. For example, the cover can be arranged on the receiving element or, in the alternative, can extend away from the receiving element. As a result of the cover, the surface of the pump may look largely closed in an unused state so that the pump is visually upgraded.

[0017] As illustrated in FIG. 1, an example implementation of a pump comprises a cylinder-piston unit 1 that compresses air to inflate a two wheeler tire by moving a piston 2 in a cylinder 3. Furthermore, the pump comprises a tube 4 connectable to the cylinder-piston unit 1. The tube is formed in the shape of a spiral. Arranged on the end of the tube 4 that faces away from the cylinder-piston unit 1 is a pump head 5. The pump head comprises a connector mechanism 6, 7 which connects to a valve of a two wheeler tire (not shown).
[0018] Furthermore, the pump comprises a manometer 8 that extends upwards from the cylinder-piston unit 1. The manometer 8 is surrounded by a receiving element 9 on which a cover 10, that extends across the cylinder-piston unit 1, is also arranged. In particular, the receiving element 9 and the cover 10 are formed as a one-piece part.
[0019] As further illustrated in FIG. 1, the receiving element 9 is formed as a hollow cylinder having a diameter that forms an annular space 11 between an inner wall of the receiving element 9 and an outer wall of the manometer 8. In the annular space 11, the tube 4 can be stored in loops that lie one on top of the other (see, for example, FIGS. 3 and 6). In this case, the loops of the tube 4 are arranged coaxially to the manometer 8. In order to connect the pump head 5 to a two wheeler tire, the tube 4 can be pulled out of the annular space 11.
[0020] Referring now to FIG. 2, the pump comprises a first housing member 12 and a second housing member 13, each forming part of a pedal mechanism that is known in the prior art. The first housing member 12 is designed as a base member that can rest on the ground. The second housing member 13 is connected to a side of the first housing member 12. As shown in FIGS. 2, 5 and 6, the second housing member 13 is connected to the left side of the first housing member 12 such that the second housing member can be pivoted with respect to the first housing member.
[0021] The second housing member 13 comprises a large central recess 14 through which parts of the cylinder-piston unit 1 and the receiving element 9 with the manometer 8 can extend (see, for example, FIGS. 2, 5 and 6). In this case, the cylinder-piston unit 1 is connected in an articulated manner to a side of the first housing member 12. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 6, the cylinder-piston unit 1 is connected to the right side of the first housing member 12. As further illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 6, the cylinder-piston unit 1 is also attached in an articulated manner to the second housing member 13 approximately in the middle of the second housing member.
[0022] With reference to FIGS. 3-6, the second housing member 13 can be pivoted from a first position which extends from the first housing member 12 at an angle of, for example, 70.degree. (see FIGS. 5-6) to a second position which rests at least partially on the first housing member 12 (see FIGS. 3-4). The cylinder-piston unit 1 is actuated through the movement of the two housing members 12, 13 relative to one another so that the cylinder-piston unit pumps air through the tube 4 into the two wheeler tire.
[0023] In the second position of the second housing member 13, as shown in FIGS. 3-4, the cover 10 is located within the recess 14 and largely closes the recess so that an impression of a largely closed housing is produced.
