Abstract:

A glove-and-weight system is disclosed herein. The glove-and-weight system includes an anatomical glove that fits a hand of a user. The glove includes a palm side, a back side and, at least one figure-receiving aperture. The palm side includes a pocket and, the back side comprises a breathable material. The glove-and-weight system further includes a weight. The weight is configured to be removably placeable inside the pocket. The glove-and-weight system is useful for use as an exercise accessory.

Claims:

1. A glove-and-weight system comprising: an anatomical glove for a hand of a user wherein the glove includes: a palm side with a pocket; a back side with a breathable material; and at least one finger-receiving aperture; and a weight removably placeable inside the pocket.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the pocket has an opening.

3. The system of claim 2 wherein the opening is closable by a fastening mechanism.

4. The system of claim 3 wherein the fastening mechanism is a hook-and-loop system.

5. The system of claim 3 wherein the fastening mechanism is a zipper.

6. The system of claim 3 wherein the fastening mechanism is an elastic band.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the pocket includes an interior lip configured to retain the weight.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the breathable material has elastic properties.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the palm side includes a traction material.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the weight comprises a granular substance.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein the granular substance comprises sand.

12. The system of claim 10 wherein the granular substance comprises iron.

13. The system of claim 1 wherein the weight comprises a dense, rigid material.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the weight comprises a metal.

15. The system of claim 1 wherein the weight comprises a dense, pliable material.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the dense, pliable material comprises a rubber.

17. A glove-and-weight system comprising: an anatomical glove that can fit a hand of a user with a palm side having a traction material and a pocket having an opening that is closable by a fastening mechanism selected from a hook-and-loop system, a zipper, or an elastic band, a back side having a breathable material with elastic properties, and at least one finger-receiving aperture; and a weight that comprises a granular substance and that is removably replaceable inside the pocket, wherein the pocket includes an interior lip configured to retain the weight.

18. The system of claim 17 further comprising a set of instructions, wherein system components are arranged as a kit.

19. A method of using a glove-and-weight system, the method comprising: providing the glove-and-weight system having: an anatomical glove for a hand of a user wherein the glove includes: a palm side with a pocket; a back side with a breathable material; and at least one finger-receiving aperture; and a weight removably placeable inside the pocket; placing a hand into the glove; and inserting the weight into the pocket.

20. The method of claim 19 further comprising removing the weight from the pocket.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Technical Field

[0003] The present invention relates generally to the field of apparel of existing art and more specifically relates to weighted gloves.

Related Art

[0004] Exercise comes in many forms ranging from calisthenics, to heavy lifting. All people may participate in an exercise through out each stage of life. Often patients are prescribed a daily routine of light to moderate exercise to expedite healing processes. Group exercises are also very common. Group exercises include basic stretching, yoga, pilates and spin classes. Weights for providing a light resistance are common in group exercise classes. However, weights held by a user can impede movement and cause tension in untargeted muscles. Conventional handheld weights in group classes may cause early fatigue, and potential injury. A solution to overcome these dangers is by employing weighted gloves.

[0005] U.S. Pat. No. 6,553,574 to Bruce L. Hall relates to a weighted therapeutic glove. The described weighted therapeutic glove includes a weighted therapeutic glove that has a back-hand side, a palm side, a thumb opening, and at least one finger opening. Positioned on the back-hand side are back-hand pockets for removably receiving first weights. The back-hand pockets are oriented to open on the back-hand side proximate the thumb opening so that the first weights are insertable from a direction of the at least one thumb opening substantially laterally to the ulnar edge of a wearer's hand. On the palm side, a palm pocket is provided for removably and containably receiving one or more second weights. The palm pocket has at least one sleeve affixed to the palm side for receiving the second weight.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known weighted glove art, the present disclosure provides a novel glove-and-weight system and method. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a glove-and-weight system and method.

[0007] A glove-and-weight system is disclosed herein. The glove-and-weight system includes an anatomical glove that fits a hand of a user. The glove includes: a palm side, a back side and, at least one finger-receiving aperture. The palm side includes a pocket and, the back side comprises a breathable material. The glove-and-weight system further includes a weight. The weight is configured to be removably replaceable inside the pocket.

[0008] According to another embodiment, a method of using a glove-and-weight system is also disclosed herein. The method of using a glove-and-weight system includes a first step of providing a glove-and-weight system as described above. A step of, placing hand into the glove. A step of, inserting the weight into the pocket. Lastly, an optional step of, removing the weight from the pocket.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0017] As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a weighted glove and more particularly to a glove-and-weight system and method as used to improve the existing weighted glove art.

[0018] Generally, the glove-and-weight system is a modularly weighted exercise glove. The present invention engages the arm, shoulder, and back muscles for enhanced strength and tone. The glove-and-weight system includes a glove having a pocket in the palm area. The pocket is sized to fit an auxiliary weight, allowing for a user to have full hand functionality. The weighted palm provides the user of the glove full mobility of fingers while simultaneously providing the added benefit of multiple muscle tension. The weight may be a solid object or a pouch filled with dense materials. The weights come in various sizes to accommodate a user's strength. Further, the glove may double as a conventional exercise glove when worn without the weight.

[0019] Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-4, various views of a glove-and-weight system 100.

[0020] FIG. 1 shows a glove-and-weight system having various system components during an `in-use` condition 50, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Here, the glove-and-weight system may be beneficial for use by a user 40 to exercise. As illustrated, the glove-and-weight system 100 may include a glove 110. The glove 110 is an anatomical glove that fits a hand of a user 40. The glove 110 includes a palm side 120, a back side 130 and at least one finger-receiving aperture 140. The palm side 120 includes a pocket 121. The back side 130 comprises a breathable material 131. The system further includes a weight 150 configured to be removably placeable inside the pocket 121. In an alternate embodiment, the pocket 121 may extend to, and terminate at, the at least one finger-receiving aperture 140.

[0021] According to one embodiment, the glove-and-weight system 100 may be arranged as a kit 105. In particular, the glove-and-weight system 100 may further include a set of instructions 107. The instructions 107 may detail functional relationships about the structure of the glove-and-weight system 100 such that the glove-and-weight system 100 can be used, maintained, or the like, in a preferred manner.

The glove 110 is an anatomical glove that fits a hand of a user 40 (FIG. 1). The glove 110 includes a palm side 120, a back side 130 and at least one finger-receiving aperture 140. The palm side 120 includes a pocket 121. The back side 130 comprises a breathable material 131 (FIG. 1). The system further includes a weight 150 configured to be removably placeable inside the pocket 121. The pocket 121 may have an opening 122. The opening 122 of the pocket 121 may be closable by a fastening mechanism 123. In various embodiments the fastening mechanism 123 may be a hook-and-loop system; The fastening mechanism 123 may be a zipper; The fastening mechanism 123 may be an elastic band. The pocket 120 may further include an interior lip 124 configured to retain the weight 150. The interior lip 124 may be located within the pocket 121 and form a structure that is sized to receive a portion of the weight 150. The interior lip 124 may embody a secondary pocket within the pocket 121 of the palm side 120 of the glove 110. The weight 150 may be placed in the pocket 120 and held in place with the interior lip 124.

The system includes a glove 110 that is an anatomical glove that fits a hand of a user 40 (FIG. 1). The glove 110 includes a palm side 120, a back side 130 (FIG. 2) and at least one finger-receiving aperture 140. The palm side 120 includes a pocket 121. The dense material may be provided in various volumes and densities. Alternatively, the weight 150 may be a dense pliable material. The dense pliable material may be rubber. Additional compositions of the dense pliable material are also considered. The dense pliable material may be provided in various volumes and densities.
