Description:

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The application relates to a method and apparatus for a butt stock at the rear of a firearm, airsoft gun, or other dischargeable device with a modifiable opening such that said butt stock may be used as a storage device.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Prior Art

[0002] Traditionally, many people who use firearms, airsoft guns, and other dischargeable devices have added butt stocks to the rears of said weapons for added support during firing. These stocks are usually pressed up against the shoulder such that the shooter may use his or her whole body weight as a stop to the potential recoil caused by firing. This can improve accuracy and grip during critical moments.

[0003] Presently, butt stocks are often left hollow and provide an opening in the rear such that the shooter may store excess ammo, attachments, or gear or other items within the butt stock. Unfortunately rear-opening butt stocks require the shooter to shift from a fire-ready position to a standby position for the rear-opening to be accessible. This is both inconvenient in the time it wastes during non-emergency situations, and more dangerous in tactical situations when this time difference can be the distinguishing factor between life and death.

[0004] Presently, storing and retrieving large or long objects within rear-opening butt stock storage units is inconvenient in that one must take hold of the object by its end, which can be awkward and uncomfortable in non-combative situations, but deadly in certain situations.

[0005] There exists a need for a butt stock for firearms, airsoft guns, and other dischargeable devices which provides for storage that is accessible from the shouldered, or fire-ready position of the shooter.

Objects and Advantages

[0006] Accordingly, several objects and advantages of this invention are:

[0007] to provide for accessible storage within the butt stock of a firearm, airsoft gun, or other dischargeable device;

[0008] to provide for storage that may be accessible without the shooter leaving a fire-ready position;

[0009] to allow for more easy storage and retrieval of the objects stored within butt stock;

[0010] to allow for longer objects such as barrel so silencers to be easier to store and retrieve from said storage.

[0011] Further objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] The following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the embodiments and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the embodiments can be gained by taking the entire specification, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.

[0013] In accordance with the present invention an apparatus providing for the storage and retrieval of objects within the rear stock of a firearm, airsoft gun, or other dischargeable device such that the objects are accessible through an opening in the top of the butt stock.

OPERATION--FIGS. 1-3

[0044] As shown in FIG. 1, according to certain embodiments of the prior art, butt stock 20 is attached to weapon 10 at stock attachment 21. According to certain embodiments the prior art, the butt stock 20 comprises rear cover 22 which may be opened to expose as interior storage area. Said storage area can be used to store objects, which the shooter can use in combat or otherwise. Storing or retrieving objects from a rear opening butt stock storage is inconvenient because the storage cannot be accessed while the shooter is in the fire-ready position.

[0045] As shown in FIG. 2, according to certain embodiments of the present invention, butt stock 30 is attached to weapon 10 at stock attachment 31. According to certain embodiments, cover 32 may be opened such that storage area 34 within butt stock 30 is exposed and objects may be placed within storage area 34. Storage area 34 may be used to store objects, which the shooter may use in combat or otherwise.
