Abstract

This Special Design Pillow provides comfort to a person when sitting in a Lawn Chair or where being placed. It is designed with special dimensions for extreme comfort while being designed to remain stable on the chair where place. If a person falls asleep on the chair, they can move their head from left to right and their sleep will not be interrupted. If a person get up from the chair the pillow will provide them with the same comfort as they had before left the chair.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

[0004] This "Gentie George Wesley Collection--Special Design Lawn Chair Pillow with Skirt" would fall under the Lawn and Gardner Furniture Accessories or Home Accessories. I was studying for my Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam and I realized that I was supposed to have made a pillow for the lawn chair that I was sitting in for studying comfort. I immediately stopped and made the pillow and went back to studying. As I got up from the chair the pillow kept falling down into the seat of the chair touching my back. I felt a little uncomfortable about the pillow falling down into seat and realized that it was unsafe if I decided to sit back down into the seat. I then decided to resolve that problem by adding the skirt to balance the weight of the pillow so that it could remain stable or where placed when I get out of the chair and return to the chair. I redesign the pillow to do just that, I could now get out of the chair and the pillow will provide me the same comfort and safety that I had before I got up or left the chair.

The pillow is designed with special dimensions to provide extreme comfort. If a person falls asleep on the chair, they can move their head from left to right and their sleep will not be interrupted. The Special Design Lawn Chair Pillow is also portable and user friendly.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0012] The Special Design Lawn Chair Pillow provides comfort to an person when sitting in a Lawn Chair or where being placed. It is designed with special dimensions for extreme comfort. The benefit of the special designed pillow is to remain stable on the lawn chair where place and provide comfort, convenience and style to the lawn chair. If a person falls asleep on the chair, they can move their head from left to right and then sleep will not be interrupted. If a person get up from the chair or leave the chair the pillow will provide them with the same comfort as they had before leaving the chair.

[0013] The total length of the base of the special design pillow with skirt is 35 inches long and 21 inches wide, with the pillow dimension being 11.times.21 and the skirt dimensions being 22.times.21. The base color of the pillow being black with fabric being of leather with a 2 inch strip of cream with fabric being of leather centered. The base front of the skirt being black with fabric being of leather with the back side being two tone as such as cream with fabric being of leather and black with fabric being of leather. The pillow and the skirt are both trim with an elegant fabric to embrace the exquisite style of the Gentie George Wesley Special Design Pillow with skirt.

[0014] The process to make the "Gentie George Wesley Special Design Pillow with skirt" is as following:

[0015] 1. Cut one piece of black leather fabric 12.times.22 inches in diameter.

[0016] 2. Cut 1 piece of cream leather fabric 2.times.23 inches in diameter.

[0017] 3. Cut 2 pieces of black leather fabric 4.times.22 inches in diameter.

[0018] 4. Cut the 1 piece of cream leather fabric 2.times.23 inches in half and turn fabric outside in and stitch one end of the fabric 1/2 inches from the edge. Then press the seams lightly.

[0019] 5. Attach by sewing the 2 pieces of black leather fabric 4.times.22 inches in diameter to the 2.times.23 piece of cream leather fabric centering this piece between the 4.times.22 inch fabric, one piece on each side, with all fabric outside in then stitching the end 1/2 inches from the edge of the fabric. Then press the seams lightly. This piece is now known as the composite or front piece of pillow.

[0020] 6. Cut 2 pieces of 11/2 inch 12.times.22 trim fabric, fold trim 1/10 of inches then press fold. Attach the trim to the composite piece or front on both sides of the cream leather covering the seams. By stitching 1/10 inch from the edge of the trim.

[0021] 7. Place the 12.times.22 piece of black leather fabric face up. Place the composite 12.times.22 piece of fabric face down with edges to together, stitch the end 1/2 inches for the edge of the fabric leaving 31/2 inches open on each end of the pillow and 31/2 inches open 9 inches from left side which is the center of the pillow.

[0022] 8. Cut 1 piece of 62/3.times.12 inches black leather fabric, turn the fabric right side in matching the ends. Then stitch 1/2 in along the 12 in side of the fabric. Then lightly press the seams. Turn fabric right side out. The piece is now known as the tassel.

[0023] 9. Cut 3 pieces of 31/2 inches piece of the tassel. With the pillow turned outside in, insert 1.sup.st of tassel fabric to the far left of the pillow, in the area that have been left opened. Insert the 2.sup.nd tassel of fabric to the center of the pillow, in the area that have been left opened. Insert the 3.sup.rd tassel of fabric to the right end of the pillow in the area that have been left opened. Here on the right end of the pillow attach the tassel to the top of the front side or composite piece of the pillow (only), leaving the back side for filling the pillow. Attach the tassels by stitching 1/2 in from the edges.

[0024] 10. Turn the pillow outside in and you know have the pillow with the tassels.

[0025] 11. Fill the pillow where left open with 1 pack of the Poly Fil Dry Polyester fill and then hand stitch the back of the pillow closed. bb

[0026] 12. The skirt of the pillow total diameter is 21.times.22 inches in length. The front of the skirt is black in color with fabric being of leather.

[0027] 13. Cut a piece of the black leather fabric 22.times.23 inches.

[0028] 14. The skirt back consists of two pieces combined to make a single composite with color being black and cream. The black leather fabric piece being 22.times.71/2 inches in diameter. The cream leather fabric piece being 22.times.151/2 inches in diameter.

[0029] 15. Turn both pieces of fabric outside in and stitch a 1/2 seam along the edge of one 22 inches side where the black leather fabric meeting the cream leather fabric.

[0030] 16. Place the black leather single piece of fabric 22.times.23 inches face up. Place the composite piece being now 22.times.23 faced down on the black leather fabric. Stitch the sides 22 inches and the bottom 23 inches together leaving the top open. Then lightly press the seams.

[0031] 17. Turn the fabric outside. The open end is now known at the top of the skirt.

[0032] 18. Cut one (1) 21 inches of 11/4.times.1/8 in.times.36 inches width piece of Flat Bar Zinc by Everbilt to be used as the weight with a total length of 21 inches and insert the weight, which will fall into position lying flat to the bottom of the skirt. Sew the skirt about 1/2 in from the weight to hold the weight in place. This is now known as the bottom of the skirt.

[0033] 19. Insert the three pieces of fabric known as the tassels that are attached to the pillow into the unfinished side of skirt being known as the top of the skirt and then stitch about 1/2 inch next to the weight that was inserted.

[0034] 20. Cut 2 pieces of 2.times.23 inch trim, fold the edges down 1/10 inch and press.

[0035] 21. Attach by sewing 1 piece of the trim to the bottom of the skirt covering the stitch that holding the weight in place, wrapping the trim to the back of the skirt.

[0036] 22. Attach by sewing 1 piece of the trim to the top of the skirt where the three (3) tassels are attached to the skirt. Covering the stitch that is holding the tassels and the skirt together, wrapping the trim to the back of the skirt.

[0037] 23. Cut two (2) 2.times.23 inches piece of 1 inch Bias tape single fold, press the edges where the tape has been cut along the 23 inch side.

[0038] 24. Attach by sewing 1 piece of the 2.times.23 inch piece of Bias tape to the top of the skirt covering the stitch of the trim on the front side of the skirt. Stitch 1/10 inch on both sides of the tape.

[0039] 25. Attach by sewing 1 piece of the 2.times.23 inch piece of Bias tape to the bottom of the skirt covering the stitch of the trim on the front side of the skirt at the bottom and the stitch of the weight. Sew 1/10 inch on both sides of the tape.

[0040] 26. The five (5) buttons are made with the same fabric as the trim using the Dritz Cover Button Application and then attached to the skirt front. Attach the 1.sup.st button 11/2 inches from the edge of the skirt, attach each additional button 4 inches to the right in a single line leaving the last button 1/2 inches from the right edge.

[0041] 27. The "Gentie George Wesley Special Design Lawn Chair Pillow" is complete and ready for use.

Claims

1. Comfort--The Special Design Pillow is designed with special dimensions for extreme comfort on a lawn chair. If a person falls to sleep the will still enjoy the benefit of the pillow comfort.

2. Convenience--If a person falls asleep the special dimensions of the pillow will allow their head to move from side to side to remain in a continuous sleep without being interrupted.

3. Portable--The Special Design Pillow is made of fabric so it can be transported as easy as clothes.

4. Stability--The Special Design Pillow remains on the lawn chair at what position you placed it on the chair.

5. User Friendly--The Special Design Pillow is very easy to setup on the lawn chair.

6. Style--The Special Design Pillow is design with style of high status which includes the attached skirt. The skirt is embraced with five (5) buttons matching the outlined trim of the pillow and skirt. The fabric consists of leather a highly durable fabric of two different tones or colors.
