Elastic Hair Band with Adhesive and Non-Adhesive Properties

Abstract

The invention is directed to an elastic hair band for managing a mane of hair. The elastic hair band includes an adhesive layer coated on a portion of a top side of the elastic hair band and on one end of the hair band, an adhesive layer coated on a portion of a bottom side of the elastic hair band and on an opposite end of the hair band, and an attachment strip adjacent with the adhesive layer on the bottom side that includes structured indicators formed on the attachment strip. A person using the elastic hair band to manage a mane of hair uses the attachment strip with indicators to determine the top side from the bottom side and apply the elastic hair band in a way so that the bottom side faces toward the mane of hair and wraps around the mane of hair and over the top side in such a way that the adhesive layers mate thereby banding the mane of hair.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of hair bands. More specifically, the invention relates to a hair band with elastic, adhesive, and non-adhesive properties.

BACKGROUND

[0002] Traditionally hair bands are used to place a person's long hair into what is called by most people a pony tail. These traditional hair bands are usually made of an elastic band, similar to a rubber band, that can be manipulated by the user to encompass and manage the person's mane of hair. In all commercially available products, the hair band is an elastic loop wherein the user must loop the mane through an initial loop defined by the hair band and then the user must create an additional loop and redirect the hair back through the second loop. This, by some, may be considered overly cumbersome and time consuming.

[0003] As such, there is a need to provide a hair band that is easier and, therefore, more efficient to use.

SUMMARY

[0004] The objectives of the invention are achieved by an elastic hair band of a predetermined length that has a top and bottom part with defined endpoints wherein along the surface portions of the top and bottom part are defined adhesive sections and a non-adhesive attachment strip with indicators. The attachment strip is used to provide the user with information to determine top and bottom parts so that hair band can be used to encompass a mane of hair and secure the mane using the adhesive sections in an efficient way.

[0005] In an embodiment of the invention, the elastic hair band can be further defined by a first adhesive coating of a predetermined length that coats a surface section of the top side of the elastic hair band and is positioned a predetermined distance from a first endpoint and a predetermined distance from a second endpoint. The elastic hair band can be further defined by a second adhesive coating of a predetermined length on a surface section of the bottom side and positioned a predetermined distance from the first endpoint and predetermined distance from the second endpoint, wherein the length of the second adhesive coating is less than the length of the first adhesive coating. The non-adhesive attachment strip of the hair band is of a predetermined length and adjacent with the second adhesive coating and extending a predetermined distance from the first endpoint. The indicators of the attachment strip may be defined formations within the elastic band that provide indicators to the person using the elastic band so to allow the user to understand which end wraps around the other end, or stated differently which is the top and bottom side.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0009] Referring to FIG. 1, illustrated is an example of how a person can use the elastic hair band to manage a mane of hair and the illustration discloses multiple views of a person using the hair band and is denoted generally as 10. In this use case, a hair band 12 that has adhesive and non-adhesive properties can be used by the person 10 to quickly and simply wrap and manage an otherwise unruly mane of hair. In this use case, the hair band 12 has a top and bottom side. On the top side is an adhesive adhesive portion. On the bottom side is an adhesive and non-adhesive portion. The band 12 when used by the person is wrapped in such a way so that the adhesive layer on the top side is directed away from the mane of hair, or stated differently not in direct contact with the mane of hair, and when the bottom surface comes in contact with the top surface the adhesive portion of the bottom surface mates with the adhesive portion of the top surface in such a way that the person's mane of hair is not in contact with any portion of the bottom surface that includes an adhesive layer.

[0010] Referring now to FIG. 2A, illustrated is a perspective view of the elastic band and is denoted generally as 14. The elastic band 14 includes a top side 16 and a bottom side 18. The top side 16 and bottom side 18 include a first and second endpoint 20,22. The elastic hair band 14 further includes a first adhesive coating 24 of a predetermined length on a surface section of the top side 16. The first adhesive coating 24 is positioned a predetermined distance from the first endpoint 20 and a predetermined distance from the second endpoint 22. The elastic hair band further includes a second adhesive coating 26 of a predetermined length on a surface section of the bottom side 18. The second adhesive coating 26 is positioned a predetermined distance from the first endpoint 20 and predetermined distance from the second endpoint 22, wherein the length of the second adhesive coating 26 is less than the length of the first adhesive coating 24. The elastic band 14 further includes a non-adhesive landing pad 28 having a predetermined length and adjacent with the second adhesive coating 26 and extending a predetermined distance from the second endpoint 22. The landing pad 28 includes an indicator 30 for indicating a position on the band for primarily managing use of the band, the length of the landing pad being less than the length of the second adhesive coating. The primary purpose of the landing pad 28 and indicator 30 is to allow the person to distinguish the top and bottom side 16, 18 so that the elastic band 14 can be properly used.

[0011] Referring now to FIG. 2B, illustrated is a side view of the elastic band and is denoted generally as 40. The elastic band 40 as illustrated includes top side 16 and bottom side 18. The elastic band 40 also includes first and second end points 20, 22, first adhesive layer 24, second adhesive layer 26, and landing pad 28 with indicators 30. Elastic band 40 includes adhesive layer 24 that is facing away in the opposite direction of adhesive layer 26 so that when the person applies the elastic band 40 the adhesive layer 24 is facing away from the hair and adhesive layer 26 is facing in the direction toward the person's hair. As such, when the bottom side 18 is wrapped around top side 16 the adhesive layer 26 is positioned within a space defined by adhesive layer 24 and can be attached without sticking to the person's hair. The person when using the elastic band 40 can easily understand how to apply the elastic band 40 by the landing pad 28 and indicator 30. That is to say, the landing pad 28 with indicators provides an indication to the user that bottom side 18 is to wrap around top side 16. The indicators 30 may be ridges formed on the top surface of the landing pad.

Substitutions of elements from one described embodiment to another are also fully intended and contemplated. It is the intention, therefore, to be limited only as indicated by the scope of the claims appended hereto.

Claims

1. An elastic hair band having a first and second endpoint and a top and bottom side for placing around a mane of hair for bundling the mane of hair wherein a portion of the bottom side surrounds and is facing the main, the hair band comprising: a first adhesive coating of a predetermined length on a surface section of the top side and positioned a predetermined distance from the first endpoint and a predetermined distance from the second endpoint; a second adhesive coating of a predetermined length on a surface section of the bottom side and positioned a predetermined distance from the first endpoint and predetermined distance from the second endpoint, wherein the length of the second adhesive coating is less than the length of the first adhesive coating; and a non-adhesive landing pad having a predetermined length and adjacent with the second adhesive coating and extending a predetermined distance from the first endpoint, the landing pad including an indicator for indicating a position on the band for primarily managing use of the band, the length of the landing pad being less than the length of the second adhesive coating.

2. The elastic hair band of claim 1 wherein the non-adhesive landing pad includes ridges formed on the top surface of the landing pad.

3. The elastic hair band of claim 1 wherein the non-adhesive landing pad includes a rigid outer layer formed on the top surface of the landing pad.
