Abstract:
The instant invention relates to a stairwell system that provides a floor
that can be deployed within a stairwell that can increase the useable
area in a stairwell by providing a storage area above the stairwell
system and a safety shelter below the stairwell system. This stairwell
flooring system is also known as a "floating floor". The instant
invention provides a set of movable floor panels that can be mounted on
the wall of a stairwell into an upper and a lower chamber. The upper
chamber may be used as a storage or work area. It may be equipped with
shelves on the wall and a countertop so that an individual may operate
appliances. The lower chamber can be used as a shelter for protection
from a tornado, hurricane, or other natural disaster.Claims:
