Abstract:
A belt loop accessory having an elongated strip. Attached to each end of
the strip are retaining rings. The rings are configured to frictionally
engage and slide along a belt.Claims:
1. A belt loop accessory, comprising: an elongated strip made of a
pliable material; and a pair of slideable retaining rings attached to an
inner surface of the elongated strip.
2. The accessory of claim 1 wherein the pliable material is leather.
3. The accessory of claim 1 wherein the retaining rings are attached to the strip with rivets.
4. The accessory of claim 1 wherein the rings are comprised of strips with overlapping and attached ends.
5. The accessory of claim 1 wherein the rings are configured to frictionally engage a belt.
6. The accessory of claim 5 wherein manual force is required to slide rings along the belt.
7. The accessory of claim 1 where and when the rings are slid toward one another a loop between the belt and elongated strip is formed.
8. The accessory of claim 1 where and when the rings are slid apart from one another along the belt the elongated strip lies flush with the belt.
9. The accessory of claim 1 wherein the rings are continuous.
10. The accessory of claim 7 further comprising an object positioned within the loop.
11. The accessory of claim 10 where and when the loop is tightened along the object by sliding at least one of the rings along the belt toward the other ring.
Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention is directed to a belt accessory and more particularly to a loop accessory attached to a belt.
[0002] Belts are well-known in the art and generally are fitted through loops on a pair of pants to assist in keeping pants from slipping downward. Devices are known that attach to the belt for carrying accessories such as keys, phones, and the like. While useful, these devices are complex, expensive, and require attachment of the accessory to the device. As such, a need exists in the art for a device that addresses these deficiencies.
[0003] An objective of the present invention is to provide a belt loop accessory that is easy to use.
[0004] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a belt loop accessory that is inexpensive to make.
[0005] A still further objective of the present invention is to provide a belt loop accessory that easily secures objects.
[0006] These and other objectives will be apparent to those skilled in the art based upon the following written description, drawings, and claims.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] A belt loop accessory having an elongated strip made of a pliable material. Attached to an inner surface of the strip at each end area a pair of retaining rings. The rings are configured to slidably receive and frictionally engage a belt.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0008] FIG. 1 is a plan view of a belt loop accessory; and
[0009] FIG. 2 is an end view of a belt loop accessory.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0010] Referring to the figures, a belt loop accessory 10 includes an elongated strip 12 made of a pliable material. The pliable material is of any type and preferably is made of leather. The strip 12 has a first end 14, a second end 16, an outer surface 18, and an inner surface 20.
[0011] Adjacent the first end 14 and second end 16, a pair of retaining rings 22 are attached to the inner surface 20 of the strip 12. The rings 22 are attached to the strip 12 in any manner, such as sewing, adhesive, or the like, preferably, a rivet 24 extends through the strip 12 and the ring 22. The rings 22 are continuous, or alternatively, are comprised of a strip having ends 26 and 28 that overlap and are connected.
[0012] In operation, when a belt 30 is threaded through a plurality of pant loops 32, the belt 30 is also threaded through the retaining rings 22. When not in use, the rings 22 are slid apart from one another along the belt 30 so that the strip 12 lies fiat against the belt 30. Preferably the rings 22 are sized to frictionally engage the belt 30 and require manual force to slide along the belt 30.
[0013] To retain an object 34, the strip 12 is pulled away from the belt 30 and/or the rings 22 are slid toward one another along the belt 30 to form a loop between the belt 30 and the strip 12. The object 34 is placed within the loop and the loop is tightened by sliding at least one of the rings 22 along the belt 30 so that the object 34 is snuggly retained between the belt 30 and the strip 12. The object 34 is of any type such as gloves, a hat, keys phone, or the like.
[0014] Accordingly, a belt loop accessory has been disclosed that, at the very least, meets all the stated objectives.
