Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] Field of Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a canvas sheet that is used to provide an anchor for an exercise tube.
[0003] Description of Related Art
[0004] Exercise or resistance tubes are used to provide a portal exercise device. Typically exercise tube, which has a handle attached to it, is anchored to a particular stationary object, typically stepped on, and various types of exercises may be performed once the bungee cord is anchored. Further the convenience and ability to anchor the bungee cord on a stationary object provides the mobility for the use of the bungee cord. A bungee cord is used to work various muscle groups such as the arms, biceps, triceps, chest, shoulder, leg and torso muscles. While most people have no problems applying an anchor to perform the exercise, some physically disabled people have difficulties. As a result it would be advantageous to have an anchor that is used with the exercise tube cord so that a user may engage in exercise while sitting.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention relates to an exercise anchor for seated exercise that includes: a canvas sheet; a strap with a grommet opening, which is sewn to one side of the canvas sheet; an exercise tube inserted through the opening of the strap. The exercise anchor may further including a handle on the exercise tube, where the handle is adjustable along the length of the exercise tube.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0006] FIG. 1 depicts a top view of a canvas anchor with strap in accordance with the present invention.
[0007] FIG. 2 depicts a side view of the canvas anchor with exercise tube attached for use.
[0008] FIG. 3 depicts the attachment of the exercise tube to the strap in accordance with the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0009] The present invention relates to a canvas anchor for exercise purposes. The canvas sheet is substantially rectangular (preferably 6''.times.20'') and includes a strap sewn into one side of it. An exercise tube is attached through the grommet strap hole. While sitting on the anchor, the user uses an exercise tube attached to the strap. Therefore the user uses their body weight to anchor the sheet underneath them. While in use a user may execute any exercises available in a seated position. In a seated position, a user may easily exercise a number of muscles such as the forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders and may further execute pectoral exercises.
[0010] In reference to FIG. 1, an overview or top view of a canvas anchor 20 is depicted. The exercise anchor 20 is placed under a user's buttocks 30. As shown, the user's buttocks 30 anchors and inevitably places weight on the exercise anchor 20. A strap 25 is sewn to one side of the exercise anchor 20 as shown. Strap 25 includes a grommet opening 23 for the insertion of an exercise tube.
[0011] In reference to FIG. 2, an exercise tube 27 is shown inserted into the strap 25 creating an exercise tube assembly. This view is a side view of the exercise anchor 20 under the buttocks of a user 30. As shown, the user's knee 34 and lower leg 32 extend outwardly from the exercise anchor 20. The exercise tube 27 includes a handle 28 that the user uses to grip during use. The handle 28 is not fixed to a specific point along the exercise tube. The handle 28 is kept on the tube 27 by stoppers on the ends of the tube 27. The handle 28 preferably may be adjusted along the length of the exercise tube 27. This movement of the handle 28 along the length of the exercise tube 27 enables the user to adjust the resistance associated with the exercise tube. As a result, the shorter length increases resistance and therefore enables a more intense workout.
[0012] In reference to FIG. 3, a view of the strap 25 is shown attached to the anchor 20. In this view, the exercise tube 27 is exposed to show how the tube attaches through the opening 23 of the strap 25. A stopper 29 is provided at the opposing end of the exercise tube 27 to secure the exercise tube within the opening 23.
[0013] During use the user may adjust the anchor 20 to position the strap 25 to either side of the user. Having two exercise tubes, one on each side of the user, would be nice but not necessary. The problem is that individuals may be of different width and sizes and therefore; customizing for size would not be feasible as a manufacturing point of view. The user is still able to workout both sides of the upper body with only one exercise tube on one side of their body. The user will be able to alternate sides. If the user prefers to have one on each side having two anchors would be no problem. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
