Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] Field of Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a portable air conditioning unit that cools the interior of a motor vehicle.
[0003] Description of Related Art
[0004] As is well known the interior of motor vehicles are subject to the surrounding environmental conditions. In particular, many times parked automobiles may be left in the sun or in the cold for a significant amount of hours. With respect to the summer months, where heat is the issue the interior of a vehicle can rise in extremely dangerous levels of heat. Further during winter months the interior of the motor vehicle may become quite frigid due to the freezing temperatures outside. As a consequence, it would be advantageous to have a method to control the interior of a motor vehicle while parked to regulate the interior temperature.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention relates to a portable air conditioning unit that includes: a display panel; a temperature gage, where the temperature gage and display panel are place on a front surface of the portable air conditioning unit; at least one battery pack; an AC connection, where the AC connection and the at least one battery pack are on a back surface of the air conditioning unit; and a series vents around the perimeter of the air conditioning unit. Preferably, portable air conditioning unit is pentagon shaped and in an alternative embodiment the unit is rectangular.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0010] The present invention relates to a portable air conditioning unit for placement within an interior of a motor vehicle. The air conditioning unit provides both cooling and heating capabilities for the interior of the vehicle. The air conditioning unit includes a series of vents along the outer perimeter of the unit with a gage and display mechanisms along the front surface of the air conditioning unit. On a rear side of the air conditioning unit is a battery pack and an AC connection. Batteries are used to operate the air conditioning unit, where the batteries may be recharged through the AC connection provided.
[0011] In reference to FIG. 1, a front view of the air conditioning Unit 100 in accordance with the present invention is depicted. The air conditioning Unit 100 includes a series of Vents 20 along the outer perimeter of a pentagon shaped base. The front surface includes a temperature Gage 25 that allows a user to adjust the temperature of the air conditioning output. FIG. 2 depicts a reverse or rear Surface 28 of the air conditioning Unit 100. On the rear surface 28, battery Packs 32a, 32b are provided to supply power to the air conditioning unit during operation. An AC Connection 34 is also available on the rear surface 28, which allows the user to connect the air conditioning unit to the AC connection for charging purposes.
[0012] With respect to FIG. 3, a second embodiment of an air conditioning Unit 200 is depicted. The air conditioning Unit 200 includes Vents 55 along the outer perimeter of the Unit 200. Temperature Gage 52 is also provided along with displays indicating timing mechanism and temperature display. The second Embodiment of the air conditioning unit 200 provides a rectangular shape with venting each respective side of the air conditioning unit 200. A rear view of the Unit 200 is shown in FIG. 4. This rear view shows battery Compartments 42a, 42b and an AC Connection 44 is also provided for charging purposes of the air conditioning unit 200.
[0013] The air conditioning unit in accordance with the present invention can be placed inside the interior of any motor vehicle to help control the interior temperatures of the vehicle when left exposed to the environment. Advantageously the air conditioning unit may be used during the winter or summer months due to the both heating and cooling capabilities. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
