Abstract:

The Wing Clip is worn on the inner arm and has three straps to secure the training tool to the upper forearm, elbow bend, and lower bicep. The Wing Clip is designed to wear during practice sessions, however could be worn during a round of golf. The goal is to keep a golfer's lead arm straight, throughout the golf swing, enhancing consistent ball striking ability. The Wing Clip fits on the inner arm and the 3 straps make the tool easy to place on the arm as well as take off the arm.

Claims:

1. A golf training tool comprising: a. A sturdy, plastic shell created to fit a golfer's lead arm. b. Foam lining the backside and overlapping the ends of the tool. c. Three straps to secure the tool to the arm. d. A slight indention in the middle of the sturdy, plastic shell for form fit and comfort.

2. A golf training tool according to claim 1 targeted to keep the golfer's lead elbow straight throughout the golf swing.

Description:

HOW THE IDEA WAS GENERATED

[0001] While watching American Idol one evening, one of the judges wore an intriguing ring. The mass of the ring covered the top side of the finger with gold from the bottom of the finger nail to the base of the finger. After had played a round of golf the previous weekend, something clicked as far as a fix to a challenge I was having with my golf swing. The challenge I had was my lead arm bending at the elbow, just before the club contacting the golf ball. The idea sparked that if the American Idol judge where to spin the ring to the underside of her finger, she could not bend her finger. If the concept for the finger could be transitioned to the golfer's arm, the fix became my vision.

The Overall Concept

[0002] In the game of golf, many amateurs are challenged to hit the ball consistently due to bending their lead elbow either during the backswing or just before contacting the ball. The bended elbow, which occurs with the arm closest to the target, has been nick-named as a Chicken Wing.

[0003] The slightest hinge at the elbow will result in topping the ball, hitting a slice, or missing the ball altogether. When watching most every professional golfer, the arm closest to the target remains straight throughout the backswing, contact of the ball, and during the immediate follow-through. For the advanced and professional golfer, this arm discipline is one of the foundation points giving them the consistent ability to hit the ball with power & consistency.

Addendum to the Claim--Birth of the Wing Clip

[0004] The invention of the Wing Clip training swing tool is geared to secure the arm so the elbow is greatly restricted from bending. The product is worn on the arm closest to the target. The Wing Clip is worn on the inner arm and has straps to secure the tool to the upper forearm, lower bicep, and secured at the elbow. The Wing Clip is designed to wear while practicing hitting balls at the driving range. For some it is still an option to wear the training tool during a round of golf.

[0005] The Wing Clip keeps the golfer's arm straight during the backswing, at contact, and during the follow-through. With the Wing Clip, the beginning and intermediate golfer builds their muscle memory, allowing them to release the golf club and extend through for consistent contact. Consistent contact makes the golf ball go straight and farther; which in turn will lower scores, improving their game. The Wing Clip can be used while chipping and putting for the same results.

[0006] The Wing Clip is easy to put on and take off. The Wing Clip will improve the golfing experience for multiple levels.
