Description:

[0001] The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/980,478 filed on Apr. 16, 2014.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates generally to the tattoo industry. More specifically, the present invention introduces clothing apparel on which tattoos are replicated.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] Traditionally, tattoos were used as a method of expressing ideas. However, over the years, getting a tattoo has evolved into a trend. The tattoos can be traditional tribal designs, names, quotes, personal designs, etc. The number of teenagers who have tattoos clearly shows the impact tattoos have on the younger generation.

[0004] Except for the tattoos in the facial region, all other tattoos on the body are covered with clothing. A region with large surface area, such as the arms, chest, back, and legs is preferred by many individuals when getting a tattoo. However, a majority of these arm tattoos, chest tattoos, and back tattoos are covered by clothing throughout the year. When multiple clothing layers are worn, especially during colder temperatures, the tattoos of an individual are completely covered. The need to wear multiple clothing layers can be stressful to the tattoo bearer who is eager to display their tattoos.

[0005] In addition to the restrictions caused by the weather, certain location requirements also restrict the tattoo bearer from displaying their tattoos. For instance, restaurants, offices, and locations with religious importance require clothing which covers a majority of a person's body. Considering the financial investment made on a tattoo, the inability to display a tattoo can be discouraging to an individual with a tattoo.

[0006] Certain age limitations may restrict an individual from getting a tattoo. For instance, a child may prefer to get a replica of the tattoo his or her father already has. However, not having the consent of the parents or other limitations might restrict the child from getting the tattoo. By utilizing the present invention, the child is able to fulfill his or her desire of getting the replica tattoo.

[0007] Celebrities, athletes, and other famous athletes don a variety of tattoos which can be aesthetically pleasing to the general public. As a result, followers of these celebrities and athletes might also prefer to have some or all of their tattoos. However, due to copyright issues and ownership issues, replicating their tattoos may be prohibited. The present invention addresses the issue by providing a clothing item with a replica of the preferred tattoo.

[0008] The objective of the present invention is to introduce a solution to the aforementioned issues. In particular, the present invention is a method of imprinting a tattoo on a clothing item. The tattoo that is imprinted on the clothing item, can be, but is not limited to, a personal tattoo or a replica of another tattoo. However, if a replica of another tattoo is utilized, the user may require the consent from the original tattoo artist or the tattoo bearer. By utilizing the present invention, the user can display personal tattoos or any preferred tattoo with no interruptions.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

[0021] All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

[0022] As experienced by many individuals with tattoos, displaying tattoos in public may not always be possible. Different weather conditions and certain clothing requirements limit the ability to display tattoos, and it can be discouraging to individuals who make considerable financial investments on tattoos. The present invention introduces a method for replicating body tattoos onto clothing items such that the individuals with tattoos can adhere to the clothing requirements while also displaying the desired tattoos.

[0023] In the process of replicating the body tattoo onto a clothing item, a form-fitting apparel 1 and a tattoo graphic 2 are initially chosen. The form-fitting apparel 1 can be of any material and can be, but is not limited to, a shirt, a jacket, or a pair of pants. On the other hand, the tattoo graphic 2 can be of any size, shape, design or color. When the form-fitting apparel 1 and the tattoo graphic 2 are determined, the tattoo graphic 2 is aligned with a desired section of the form-fitting apparel 1 according to user preference. Next, the tattoo graphic 2 is decaled onto the desired section of the form-fitting apparel 1. The decaling process can be, but is not limited to, a printing process. When the tattoo graphic 2 is successfully decaled, the form-fitting apparel 1 is configured onto a bodily FIG. 3 in order to display the tattoo graphic 2. The bodily FIG. 3 can differ in different embodiments of the present invention. FIG. 9 illustrates the basic overall method of the present invention.

[0024] The present invention primarily focuses on replicating a clothes-hidden tattoo 4 on a portion of the bodily FIG. 3. As illustrated in FIG. 10, the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 on the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 is initially identified. Chest tattoos, back tattoos, leg tattoos, and any other tattoo covered by clothing can be selected as the clothes-hidden tattoo 4. Next, the form-fitting apparel 1 is appropriately selected in order to clothe the portion of the bodily FIG. 3. As an example, if the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 is on the arm, wherein the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 is an arm, then the form-fitting apparel 1 is a sleeve. In another instance, when the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 is a torso, a shirt is utilized as the form-fitting apparel 1. A jacket, a sweater, or any other clothing item can also be utilized as the form-fitting apparel 1 in order to replicate the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 on the torso. Certain individuals have tattoos on the lower body as well. In such instances, the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 is a leg. Therefore, the form-fitting apparel 1 is selected to be a pair of pants such that the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 is accurately represented. However, the form-fitting apparel 1 can be a pair of shorts or a skirt and can be utilized to represent the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 of a leg. Since multiple clothing items can be selected as the form-fitting apparel 1, the present invention can be utilized by both male users and also female users.

[0025] Upon selecting the form-fitting apparel 1, a section of the form-fitting apparel 1 is identified as the desired section to replicate the clothes-hidden tattoo 4. More specifically, the section of the form fitting apparel 1 identified as the desired section of the form-fitting apparel 1 is selected to be adjacent to the clothes-hidden tattoo 4. Subsequently, as illustrated in FIGS. 1-3, the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 is decaled onto the desired section of the form-fitting apparel 1 as the tattoo graphic 2. Moreover, the decaled tattoo graphic 2 visually matches the clothes-hidden tattoo 4. FIG. 4 is an illustration of the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 being on the arm of a person. As seen in FIG. 5, the tattoo graphic 2 on the sleeve of the form-fitting apparel 1 matches the clothes-hidden tattoo 4. Similarly, FIG. 6 is an illustration when the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 is on the back and, FIG. 7 is an illustration of the tattoo graphic 2 being on the back of a shirt.

[0026] In addition to replicating an existing tattoo, the user can also utilize the present invention to replicate a planned tattoo 5 as illustrated in FIG. 8. As an example, if the user plans on getting a tattoo, but is unsure of the final outcome, the present invention can be utilized to get a preview of the planned tattoo 5. As illustrated in FIG. 11, the planned tattoo 5 is selected on a portion of the bodily FIG. 3. Next, the form-fitting apparel 1 is appropriately selected to clothe the portion of the bodily FIG. 3. As an example, if the planned tattoo 5 is on the chest, such that the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 is the torso, a shirt is selected as the form-fitting apparel 1. In another instance, if the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 for the planned tattoo 5 is the arm, a sleeve is utilized as the form-fitting apparel 1. Similar to the previous instance, wherein an actual tattoo is replicated on the form-fitting apparel 1, if the portion of the bodily FIG. 3 for the planned tattoo 5 is a leg, a pair of pants are utilized to replicate the planned tattoo 5. However, a pair of shorts or a skirt can also be used as the form-fitting apparel 1 when the planned tattoo 5 is on the leg.

[0027] When the appropriate form-fitting apparel 1 is selected, a section of the form-fitting apparel 1 which is adjacent to the planned tattoo 5 is identified as the desired section. When the desired section is finalized, the planned tattoo 5 is decaled onto the desired section of the form-fitting apparel 1 such that the tattoo graphic 2 visually matches the planned tattoo 5. According to user preference, the planned tattoo 5 can be decaled in different sizes such that the user has a better understanding of the final outcome. As mentioned earlier, the ability to decal the planned tattoo 5 is beneficial to individuals who are unsure of the final outcome of the tattoo. Additionally, individuals who have limited ability to get a tattoo, due to age restrictions and different skin compositions, can also utilize the present invention to replicate the planned tattoo 5.

[0028] In addition to replicating the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 and replicating the planned tattoo 5, the present invention can also be utilized to enhance an existing tattoo. As illustrated in FIG. 12, a color for the tattoo graphic 2 is initially identified. Afterwards, a color for the form-fitting apparel 1 is selected in order to visually contrast the color of the tattoo graphic 2. As an example, if the color of the tattoo graphic 2 is black, the form-fitting apparel 1 can be selected to be white in color. As a result, the tattoo graphic 2 can be clearly visible on the form-fitting apparel 1. In another instance, the form-fitting apparel 1 can be selected to match the skin tone of the bodily FIG. 3. As a result, the bodily FIG. 3 will have less contrast with the form-fitting apparel 1 such that the tattoo graphic 2 appears to be on the bodily FIG. 3. As in previous instances, the form-fitting apparel 1 can be, but is not limited to, a shirt, a jacket, a sweater, a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, a skirt, a beanie, a pair of gloves, and a pair of socks.

[0029] In addition to the above mentioned applications, the present invention can also be used to redesign an existing tattoo. As an example, if the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 has a complex design, the form-fitting apparel 1 can be used to replicate the clothes-hidden tattoo 4 in a simplified manner. Additionally, the present invention can also be used to continue an existing tattoo. As an example, if the user has a tattoo on the forearm, the planned tattoo 5 which is decaled on the sleeve can be utilized to create a continuation with the forearm tattoo.

[0030] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
