Abstract

In a specialized sand bucket for use in golfing, the bucket is pivotably affixed to a durable metal handle and is covered by an easy-lifting, tight-fitting lid. The scoop fits easily inside for convenient carrying. A permanently affixed metal stand elevates the bucket to a comfortable height and reduces the wear on the bucket when it is being carried by hand or in the back of a golf cart.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The invention relates generally to yard games and in particular to a sand bucket and method for playing golf with a sand bucket. Most golf courses require the golfer to carry a sand bucket, and use the sand to repair any divots created by the golfer's play. Unfortunately, an ordinary bucket doesn't have a lot of style, and is easily spilled as the golfer travels up and down the hills and around the turns of the typical golf course. A specialized sand bucket having a durable metal handle and an easy-lifting, tight-fitting lid and incorporating a scoop and permanently affixed stand would resolve this problem.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] Accordingly, the invention is directed to a specialized sand bucket for use in golfing. The pivotably bucket is affixed to a durable metal handle and is covered by an easy-lifting, tight-fitting lid. The 12-inch scoop fits easily inside for convenient carrying. A permanently affixed metal stand elevates the bucket to a comfortable height and reduces the wear on the bucket when it is being carried by hand or in the back of a golf cart.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0013] Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to a specialized sand bucket for golfing. The bucket 10 is pivotably affixed a durable metal handle 12 and an easy-lifting, tight-fitting lid 11. The scoop 14 fits easily inside for convenient carrying. A permantly affixed metal stand 13 elevates the bucket 10 to a comfortable height for a an adult human user to lift by the handle without bending, and reduces the wear on the bucket 10 when it is being carried by hand or in the back of a golf cart.

[0014] In the first exemplary embodiment, a rectangular tapered bucket 10 is affixed pivotably at two opposing points to a semicircular handle 12. A hinged lid 11, a four-legged stand 13, and a scoop 14 are further provided. The scoop 14 is preferably 12 inches in length, and may be stored inside the bucket 10. The upper rim of the stand 13 is permantly affixed to the outer perimeter of the bucket 10, using bolts, metal inserts, or another mechanism.

[0015] To use the first exemplary embodiment, the user fills the bucket 10 with sand and carries it out on the golf course for a round of golf. Whenever a divot mark is created, the bucket 10 and the stand 13 are carried to a position next to the divot mark. The user then folds down the handle 12, opens the lid 11, and uses the scoop 14 to fill the divot mark with sand from inside the bucket 10. The user then replaces the scoop 14 inside the bucket 10 and closes the lid 11. The user then carries the bucket 10 and stand 13 out of the way or back to the golf cart.

[0016] The bucket 10 and lid 11 are preferably manufactured from rigid, durable materials such as plastic, steel, aluminum, or wood. The handle 12, stand 13, and scoop 14 are preferably manufactured from rigid, durable metals such as steel or aluminum. Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A sand bucket for use in golf comprising a rectangular tapered bucket, said rectangular tapered bucket being affixed pivotably at two opposing points to a semicircular handle; said rectangular tapered bucked being reclosably sealable by a hinged tight-fitting lid; and said rectangular tapered bucket being affixed to a rigid stand.

2. The sand bucket for use in golf of claim 1 wherein said rigid stand is of a comfortable height.

3. The sand bucket for use in golf of claim 1 further comprising a scoop; said scoop and said rectangular tapered bucket being sized such that said scoop fits within said rectangular tapered bucket.

4. The sand bucket for use in golf of claim 2 further comprising a scoop; said scoop and said rectangular tapered bucket being sized such that said scoop fits within said rectangular tapered bucket.

5. A method of using the sand bucket for use in golf of claim 1 comprising filling said rectangular tapered bucket with a quantity of sand, carrying said rectangular tapered bucket by said semicircular handle for a round of golf, and using small portions of said quantity of sand to repair ground divots as needed.

A method of using the sand bucket for use in golf of claim 2 comprising filling said rectangular tapered bucket with a quantity of sand, carrying said rectangular tapered bucket by said semicircular handle for a round of golf, and using small portions of said quantity of sand to repair ground divots as needed.

7. A method of using the sand bucket for use in golf of claim 3 comprising filling said rectangular tapered bucket with a quantity of sand, carrying said rectangular tapered bucket by said semicircular handle for a round of golf, and using small portions of said quantity of sand to repair ground divots as needed.

8. A method of using the sand bucket for use in golf of claim 4 comprising filling said rectangular tapered bucket with a quantity of sand, carrying said rectangular tapered bucket by said semicircular handle for a round of golf, and using small portions of said quantity of sand to repair ground divots as needed.

9. The method of claim 7 further comprising using said scoop to remove said small portions of said quantity of sand from said rectangular tapered bucket and further using said scoop to apply and repair said small portions of said quantity of sands to ground divots as needed.

10. The method of claim 8 further comprising using said scoop to remove said small portions of said quantity of sand from said rectangular tapered bucket and further using said scoop to apply and repair said small portions of said quantity of sands to ground divots as needed.
