Abstract

A hair mounting piece for use with an elastic hair holder comprising: a connector, where the connector provides a means to attach the hair mounting piece to the elastic hair holder; and a horizontal surface, where the horizontal surface joins with the connector to form a T-shaped configuration for the hair mounting piece; and a hook and loop connection surface over the horizontal surface.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to a hair accessory mounting piece that may be attached to a conventional elastic hair holder and provides a means to decorate and accessorize the hairpiece.

[0004] Hairpieces are used by both women and men to hold hair in a stationary position, especially lengthy hair. Many times individuals may use ponytails or braids in order to secure the hair in a certain position. Further many women use elastic hair holders to hold a ponytail in place during exercise or other physical activity. Occasionally the elastic hair holders may slip or become loose and therefore require a further adjustment during use. Consequently it would be advantageous to have a device that could be used to secure an elastic hair holder and provide a means to add additional decorative accessories to the hairpiece.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention relates to a hair mounting piece for use with an elastic hair holder comprising: a connector, where the connector provides a means to attach the hair mounting piece to the elastic hair holder; and a horizontal surface, where the horizontal surface joins with the connector to form a T-shaped configuration for the hair mounting piece; and a hook and loop connection surface over the horizontal surface.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0010] The present invention relates to a hair accessory mounting piece that may be utilized to attach to elastic hair holders used normally to secure a ponytail. The accessory mounting piece attaches to an elastic ponytail holder to secure the holder in a stationary position and further to provide additional surface for the securing an additional decorative accessory. The hair mounting piece includes a connector that connects directly to the elastic holder and then a hook and loop surface for the attachment of any decorative accessory to be held by the mounting piece.

[0011] In reference to FIGS. 1A through 1D, various views of a hair mounting piece 20 in accordance with the present invention is depicted. FIG. 1A depicts a bottom view of the hair mounting piece 20. Shown in the bottom view is the connector 25 that attaches to the ponytail holder. This attachment secures the ponytail holder in place and also mounts the accessory mounting piece 20 in a secure position. FIG. 1B depicts a first side view of the mounting piece 20. As shown in the side view, connector 25 extends downwardly and forms a T-shaped configuration for the hair mounting piece 20. A hook and loop top surface 23 is provided for the attachment of any decorative accessory that may be attached to the mounting piece 20. The top surface 23 is further depicted in FIG. 1C showing a flat hook and loop surface for the attachment of decorative hair pieces.

[0012] In reference to FIG. 1D, the mounting piece 20 is depicted in a second side view. The second side view shows the connector 25 includes an opening 27 for the insertion of the ponytail holder. The ponytail holder is placed within this opening so that the mounting piece 20 secures the ponytail holder in a stationary position. The connector 25 is a pronged-type connector that snaps into place over the ponytail holder and may be made of plastic in one particular embodiment. The mounting piece 20 according to present invention provides two functions one is securing the ponytail holder in a stationary position and to provide a accessory attachment for any decorative piece that may be connected to the hook and loop surface 23 as shown. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.

Claims

1. A hair mounting piece for use with an elastic hair holder comprising: a. a connector, where the connector provides a means to attach the hair mounting piece to the elastic hair holder, where the connector includes a circular opening capable of receiving the elastic hair holder; and b. a horizontal surface, where the horizontal surface joins with the connector to form a T-shaped configuration for the hair mounting piece; and c. a hook and loop connection surface over the horizontal surface.
