BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention relates to an article of women's clothing, and in particular a garment which can be reconfigured to produce seven distinct garment styles. Many types of women's garments exist. While convertible garments are generally acceptable, the more simple forms are relatively limited with respect to the variation of styles that can be achieved with them. There exists, therefore, a need for a convertible garment which is simple in construction but at the same time is capable of being styled in a wide variety of ways by the wearer while still being easy to manufacture. The 7 In 1 Garment described herein represents a unique invention because this one simple garment is convertible into seven different garment styles. It can be converted into four distinct dress styles and three distinct skirt styles so as to appear to be at various times many different garments. This invention has appeal for women of all ages, sizes and shapes.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] It is an object of my invention to provide a single garment which can be reconfigured to create four different style dresses and three different style skirts. Another object of the present invention is to provide a garment which is attractive, comfortable, simple to make and cost efficient to manufacture. It is a further object of this invention to provide a single garment which can be worn as either a dress or as a skirt. Another object of the present invention is to provide a convertible garment which may be provided in several forms including daywear, evening wear, and beach wear. Fabrics that can be used to manufacture this garment include but are not limited to jersey knits, chiffons, polyester blends, cotton blends, etc. Making the garment from using a cotton blend fabric would make it suitable for casual day wear. Making it from a sheer chiffon fabric would make it appropriate to use at the beach as cover up attire over a women's bathing suit. Making it from a more luxurious fabric like a polyester blend would make it more suitable for evening wear. Yet another object of this invention is to provide a garment with versatility making it an economical garment for the user because it provides a wardrobe having variable style and appearance, without requiring an extensive personal wardrobe. These and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will be more apparent from the detailed description of the preferred embodiment which follows.

[0022] 3 broken line indicating stitch line

[0023] Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. FIG. 1 is an elevated view of the pattern to be used to manufacture The 7 In 1 Garment. 3 represents the stitch line where the garment is sewed. The pattern can be cut out of many different types of fabrics including but not limited to jersey knits, chiffons, polyester blends, cotton blends, etc. The edges of the fabric would then be finished with a rolled hem finish. The fabric then would be folded in half vertically and sewn together at the stitch line indicated on FIG. 1. The strap like portions 1 and 2 are used for tying when reconfiguring the garment. There are no hooks, buttons, zippers or Velcro. Because of its simplicity it is cost efficient to manufacture. The garment of this invention can be made in conformity with the standard sizes employed in the apparel field (e.g. "small", "medium", "large", "x-large").

[0024] The garment of the present invention can be considered a convertible garment. Several embodiments of applicant's invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. Reconfiguring the garment to fashion the seven different garment styles is simple. One embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a halter style dress. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your torso. Crisscross 1 and 2 in front of you at your bosom, then take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at the back of your neck.

[0025] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a halter style dress with key hole at the neck. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your torso. Take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at the front of your neck, then take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at the back of your neck.

[0026] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 6 and FIG. 7 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a halter style dress with neck strap. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your torso. Take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at your bosom, then take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at the back of your neck.

[0027] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a strapless style dress. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your torso. Take 1 and 2 and tie a knot and a bow in front of you at your bosom.

[0028] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 10 and FIG. 11 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a skirt that ties to the front of your waist. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your lower torso. Take 1 and 2 and tie a knot and a bow at the front of your waist.

[0029] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 12 and FIG. 13 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a skirt that ties to the side of your waist. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your lower torso. Take 1 and 2 and tie a knot and a bow at the side of your waist.

[0030] Another embodiment of the garment to be converted is shown in FIG. 14 and FIG. 15 which illustrates the front and back view of the garment reconfigured into a skirt that ties to the back of your waist. This style is fashioned by placing the garment on your lower torso. Crisscross 1 and 2 in front of you at your waist, then take 1 and 2 and tie a knot at the back of your waist.

[0031] Thus, there has been disclosed a method of converting this garment into seven different distinct garment styles that can be worn on either the entire torso, or the lower portion of the torso.

[0032] The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be regarded as falling within the scope of the invention.
