Abstract

A cosmetic organizer having deformable walls that define a plurality of slots is shown. Each of the slots may receive a makeup utensil. Moreover, a group of makeup utensils may be complementarily grouped and inserted into the plurality of slots so that the user may have convenient grouping of complementary makeup utensils and does not need to search within an unorganized makeup bag.

BACKGROUND

[0003] The various embodiments disclosed herein relate to a cosmetic organizer.

[0004] A makeup user has numerous types of makeup utensils to beautify themselves. These utensils come in various shapes, sizes and colors. To hold and carry these utensils, they are carried in a carry case such as a small bag. This will form the makeup kit. Accordingly, the makeup kit may contain a significant number of makeup utensils having variety of shapes and colors. Unfortunately, the makeup utensils are not organized within the makeup bag. They are merely held loose within the makeup bag (e.g., pouch or hard case). When a person wants to use a particular combination of makeup utensils, the makeup user must sift through a number of makeup utensils checking for type of utensil and color. The makeup user may also have to open multiple makeup utensils to discover its color. These activities may take a significant amount of time and frustration to sift through and find the right makeup utensil in the right color.

[0005] Moreover, makeup bags are oftentimes unorganized and too large to carry in a small compact purse for touch-up purposes. Accordingly, there is a need in the art for a device to organize makeup utensils.

BRIEF SUMMARY

[0006] The cosmetic organizer discussed herein addresses the needs discussed above, discussed below and those that are known in the art.

[0007] The cosmetic organizer may have a plurality of slots in which a makeup utensil such as an eye shadow, lip liner, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner or blush brush may be inserted. Each of the slots may hold a different makeup utensil. Moreover, the user may select a complementary group of makeup utensils so that the user may easily retrieve the correct utensil and color. The slots are defined by deformable walls that frictionally hold the makeup utensil when the makeup utensil is inserted into the slot. To remove the makeup utensil, the user need only laterally pull the makeup utensil in order to slip the makeup utensil out of the slot. When the makeup utensil is pulled laterally, the walls of the slot bend outward and allow the user to withdraw the makeup utensil from the slot. Moreover, when the makeup utensil is in the slot, the walls hug and provide frictional grip so that the makeup utensil remains within the slot. Alternatively, instead of removing the makeup utensil to utilize the makeup utensil, the user may remove a cap from a base of the makeup utensil which remains within the slot. For example a handle of a lip liner may be removed from a container of the lip liner while the container of the lip liner remains within the slot of the cosmetic organizer. The user applies a lip liner and places the handle back on the container when finished.

[0008] More particularly, a cosmetic organizer is disclosed. The organizer may comprise a body fabricated from a flexible and resilient material. The body may be formed to have first and second slots. The first slot may be defined by a first wall. The second slot may be defined by a second wall. The first wall may define a first slot for receiving a first makeup utensil. The second wall may define a second slot for receiving a second makeup utensil. The walls may be fabricated from a flexible and resilient material so that the walls deflect when the makeup utensil is being laterally pulled out of the first and second slots and resume its original configuration when the first and second makeup utensil have been removed from the first and second slots.

[0009] The slots may extend along an entire height of the body. Each slot may be defined by additional walls. The first and second walls may be formed in a circular configuration defining an inner diameter. An inner diameter on a first end may be larger than an inner diameter of a second end to accommodate different sizes of makeup utensils. Additionally or alternatively, a thickness of the first wall at a first end may be greater than a thickness of the first wall at a second end to accommodate different sizes of makeup utensils.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0020] Referring now to the drawings, a cosmetic organizer 10 is shown. The cosmetic organizer 10 may have two or more slots 12 for receiving a corresponding number of makeup utensils 14. The makeup utensils 14 may be chosen from a plurality of makeup utensils 14 including but not limited to lipsticks, eye shadows, lip liners, etc. which are also provided in various colors, shades and packaging. Once the makeup utensils are chosen, the makeup utensils may be inserted into the cosmetic organizer 10. The cosmetic organizer 10 may come in a variety of colors so that the cosmetic organizer can be color-coordinated with the makeup utensils and may be kept as a unit. By doing so, time is not wasted and the user is not frustrated when trying to find the right color. As such, when a user wants to carry only the essential makeup utensils 14 and not the entire makeup bag, they may select the desired makeup utensils 14 and utilize the cosmetic organizer 10 to keep the selected makeup utensils 14 together without having to carry the makeup bag. As such, the cosmetic organizer 10 provides for a sleek makeup utensil 14 carry case that can replace the makeup bag when the user needs to travel light. Additionally, the cosmetic organizer 10 is versatile in that it can hold a wide variety of makeup utensils of various shapes and sizes. To this end, one or more of the slots 12 may have an internal tapered configuration so that each of the slots 12 may hold varying sizes of makeup utensil 14.

[0021] The cosmetic organizer 10 is shown as having three slots 12a, b, c. The slots 12a, b, c are shown as having an internal circular shape, as shown in FIG. 6. The slots 12a, b and c, although shown as being circular or having an interior cylindrical configuration, the interior surface 16 of the slots 12a, b, c may have other configurations including but not limited to rectangular, triangular, polygonal. Additionally, each of the slots 12a, b and c may have a different configuration from an adjacent slot 12a, b, c. By way of example and not limitation, the slot 12a may have an interior cylindrical configuration, whereas the or slot 12b may have an interior rectangular configuration. Accordingly, the interior surface 16 of the slots 12a, b, c may have the same configuration or have different configurations as needed to hold a particular makeup utensil 14 or combination of makeup utensils. Some makeup utensils 14 are circular in shape, whereas, other makeup utensils 14 are rectangular in shape. The interior surfaces 16 of the slots 12a, b, c may be designed and fabricated to match the exterior configuration of a makeup utensil 14.

[0022] Moreover, the interior surfaces 16 of the slots 12a, b, c may be tapered. In particular, an inner diameter 17a, b, c of the slot 12 at the lower end may be about 0.1 inches smaller than an inner diameter 19a, b, c of the slot 12 at the upper end. By way of example and not limitation, the inner diameter 17a at the upper end may be 0.75 inches, whereas, the inner diameter 19a at the lower end may be 0.65 inches. The inner diameter 17b at the upper end may be 0.65 inches, whereas, the inner diameter 19b may be 0.55 inches. The inner diameter 17c at the upper end may be 0.33 inches, whereas, the inner diameter 19c at the lower end may be 0.25 inches. The tapered configuration of the interior surfaces 16 allows for the cosmetic organizer 10 to receive and hold makeup utensils 14 of varying sizes. Smaller makeup utensils 14 will be frictionally held by the lower side of the interior surfaces 16, whereas, larger makeup utensils 14 will be frictionally held by more of the entire length of the interior surface 16.

[0023] The slots 12a, b, c are defined by walls 18. Preferably, the walls 18 that form the slots 12a, b, c have identical thicknesses 20, as shown in FIG. 6. However, it is also contemplated that the walls 18 may have different thicknesses 20 depending on the function of the makeup utensil 14. Thicker wall thicknesses 20 would provide less deformation so that it would be harder for a person to pull (see FIG. 2) the makeup utensil 14 out of the slot 12 of the cosmetic organizer 10. As shown in FIG. 2, when the makeup utensil 14 is pulled from the slot 12 laterally, the walls 18 are spread open to allow the makeup utensil 14 to escape out of the slot 12. However, when the walls 18 are thicker, the walls 18 would be harder to deform. Thus, the makeup utensil 14 would be harder to pull out laterally. Depending on the desired function of the cosmetic organizer 10, the walls 18 may be fabricated to be thicker or thinner as desired.

[0024] Moreover, the wall thickness 20 may vary along the height of the cosmetic organizer 10. By way of example and not limitation, the thickness 20 of the wall 18 may be 0.125 inches at the upper end of the wall 18 and 0.115 inches at the bottom end of the wall 18. In this manner, makeup utensils of varying sizes may be accommodated in this slot.

[0025] The walls 18 that define the slots 12a, b, c may have a particular height 21, 23, 25. The heights 21, 23, 25 of the walls 18 are dependent upon the particular makeup utensil 14 for which the slots 12a, b, c are designed. For taller makeup utensils 14, the heights 21, 23, 25 of the walls 18 defining the slots 12a, b, c in which the makeup utensil 14 will be stored is fabricated so as to be taller. Preferably, the heights 21, 23, 25 of the walls 18 in which the makeup utensil 14 will be stored are equal to or greater than one third of the height 24 of the makeup utensil 14. Preferably, the heights 21, 23, 25 of the walls 18 are at least one half the height 24 of the makeup utensil 14 which is inserted into the slot 12 defined by the wall 18. By way of the example shown in the figures and not limitation, a height 21 of the wall 18 defining slot 12a may be about 2 inches tall. A height 23 of the wall 18 defining slot 12b may be about 2.5 inches tall. A height 25 of the wall 18 defining slot 12c may be about 2.85 inches tall.

[0026] The slots 12a, b, c are described and shown as a through hole from the top to the bottom. However, it is contemplated that the bottom end shown in FIG. 7 may be covered with material so that the utensil cannot be pushed through the slot 12a, b or c.

[0027] The cosmetic organizer 10 may be fabricated from a number of different types of materials including but not limited to rubber, elastomeric material, plastic, etc. The material from which the cosmetic organizer 10 is fabricated should be resilient so that the walls 18 deflect back to their normal position after insertion or removal of a makeup utensil 14 from a slot 12a, b, c.

[0028] During use, a person may select three makeup utensils 14 that are color-coordinated. These makeup utensils may be held together by way of the cosmetic organizer 10. By way of example and not limitation, one makeup utensil 14 may be a lip liner, a second makeup utensil 14 may be a lipstick, and a third makeup utensil 14 may be an eye shadow. The person may insert each of the three makeup utensils 14 into the appropriate slots 12a, b, c of the cosmetic organizer 10. By utilizing the cosmetic organizer 10, complementary makeup utensils 14 may be kept as a group. The user does not have to rummage through a makeup bag containing loose makeup utensils 14 to find the correct color and tool. Also, it is convenient to conveniently and neatly carry the makeup utensils 14 with the cosmetic organizer 10.

[0029] The cosmetic organizer 10 was described in relation to holding makeup utensils. However, it is also contemplated that the cosmetic organizer may also be utilized to organize other slender objects such as pens, pencils, highlighters, screw drivers, flashlights and other slender objects.

Given the above disclosure, one skilled in the art could devise variations that are within the scope and spirit of the invention disclosed herein, including various ways of fabricated the cosmetic organizer. Thus, the scope of the claims is not to be limited by the illustrated embodiments.

Claims

1. A cosmetic organizer, the organizer comprising: a body fabricated from a flexible and resilient material, the body formed to have first and second slots, the first slot defined by a first wall, the second slot defined by a second wall, the first wall defining a first slot for receiving a first makeup utensil, the second wall defining a second slot for receiving a second makeup utensil, the walls being fabricated from a flexible and resilient material so that the walls deflect when the makeup utensil is being laterally pulled out of the first and second slots and resume its original configuration when the first and second makeup utensils have been removed from the first and second slots.

2. The organizer of claim 1 wherein the slot extends along an entire height of the body.

3. The organizer of claim 1 wherein each slot is defined by additional walls.

4. The organizer of claim 3 wherein the first and second walls are formed in a circular configuration defining an inner diameter.

5. The organizer of claim 4 wherein an inner diameter on a first end is larger than an inner diameter of a second end.

6. The organizer of claim 4 wherein a thickness of the first wall at a first end is greater than a thickness of the first wall at a second end.

7. The organizer of claim 1 wherein the body is further formed to have a third slot.

8. The organizer of claim 1 wherein the body is fabricated from an elastomeric material.

9. The organizer of claim 1 wherein a bottom of the slot has a flat wall.
