Abstract:

Unity Cup is designed to revolutionize the way wedding toast exchange is done. Usually the traditional wedding champagne glasses have to be held with arms crossed and locked, in order for the bride and the groom to show their unity. While they lock arms and try to get a sip they worry about spilling the drink on each other, so it creates anxiousness to both of them. The unity cup makes toasting so easy to conduct with out anxiousness or doubt that the drink might spill on the bride or the groom. Holding the cup together the flexibility of the unity cup allows the couple to drink facing each other from their respective right side. While they are drinking from same but separate cup, it brings them closer in proximity. Therefore the unity cup helps to avoid the awkward entanglement and gives the strong symbolism of unity.

Claims:

1. I claim a Unity Cup is two cups combined together with a base in a shape of Y, each cup connected to the base with a spring that allows the individual cups to flex in any direction to allow two people to take part in drinking at the same time from a separate but one cup; the spring connection to each cup makes toasting very easy and avoids the entanglement of the arms which is the traditional way of exchanging drink in an effort to show the oneness of the bride and the groom; the unity cup is unique in its function and its powerful symbolism, it clearly represents the powerful strong unity that the bride and the groom are about to share, and they confirm their unity and oneness by drinking with a combined cup (the unity cup), the symbolism of the unity cup does not diminish their individuality, but acknowledges it by the fact that the two separate flutes remain separate, but connected at their core; the unity cup can be used each year at anniversaries, and will be a wonderful memorabilia article that reminds the couple of their vow to each other, as in many religions, wedding vows are so secret; that they share Holy Communion that is poured in one cup; for the function of the unity cup is the closest way to represent the kind of oneness that is shared in the relationship of married couple, the cup is unique in its nature and there is nothing like it out there, that symbolizes or represents the oneness that is shared between a bride and a groom, or any husband and wife share.

Description:

[0001] The cup is constructed so that the common base splits in a Y to support two flutes for each member of a couple to drink from. The two flutes are connected to the base by flexible springs, which allows the flutes to be moved at their opening ends and then home back to an upright position. This construction facilitates toasting by the couple, who may push the flutes together to make a clinking sound, then have them home back to an upright position from where they may be used for drinking.

[0002] The cup will be manufactured in stainless still silver therefore unbreakable and suitable for drinking. The stand and the spring along with two separate cups will be manufactured together as one piece unless otherwise it is needed to manufacture it separately.

[0003] The present invention provides an easy to use drinking cup that is appropriate for weddings and anniversaries. This new invention avoids the traditional way of exchanging drinks with arms crossed and allows the couple to drink straight from their right side. Each person faces each other and holds the base of the cup together with their left hand and holds the cup with their right hand and takes the sip from their individual cup. They push the cup towards the middle making a clinging sound to make a toast. The spring allows the cup to go back and forth as it is needed. As they drink from the cup they get closer to each other, which is another symbolic matter for their intimacy. The cup is unbreakable so the couple can keep the cup as long as they want as memorabilia. The unity cup has a stylish wineglass shape so that it provides an element of class to the consumption of wine or other beverages.
