Description:

TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND

[0001] Conventional pool barrier fences are unattractive and can often be difficult and cumbersome to remove and maneuver when desired, i.e. parties, social gatherings and the like. Presently, the market lacks pool fences which require minimal effort in order to remove, yet offer optimal protection when needed.

[0002] The present invention generally relates to a safety fence. More specifically, the invention is a pool safety fence.

[0003] It is an object of the invention to provide a pool safety fence that is relatively easily retractable and usable.

[0004] It is an object of the invention to provide a pool safety fence that can be completely closed and opened for greater access to a pool and ease of storage when not in use.

[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide a pool safety fence that can be motorized to open and close to eliminate opening and closing the pool safety fence by hand.

[0006] What is really needed is a pool safety fence that is relatively easily retractable and usable that can be completely closed and opened for greater access to a pool and ease of storage when not in use that can be motorized to open and close to eliminate opening and closing the pool safety fence by hand.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] The present invention will be described by way of exemplary embodiments, but not limitations, illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which like references denote similar elements, and in which:

[0008] FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of a pool safety fence, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

[0009] Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

[0010] Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention. However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

[0011] The phrase "in one embodiment" is utilized repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms "comprising", "having" and "including" are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

[0012] FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of a pool safety fence 100, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The pool safety fence 100 is relatively easily retractable and usable and can be completely closed and opened for greater access to a pool and ease of storage when not in use that can be motorized to open and close to eliminate opening and closing the pool safety fence by hand.

[0013] The pool safety fence 100 includes a plurality of latch mechanisms 110, a plurality of mesh fence panels 120, a plurality of hinges 130, a plurality of ground stakes 140 and a plurality of multi-directional wheels 150. The latch mechanisms 110 are built-in and retractable which can be alternated to either fasten the pool safety fence 100 to an exterior pool deck (not shown) or allow the pool safety fence 100 to be relatively easily retracted. The mesh fence panels 120 are typically made of lightweight aluminum screen mesh material that allows persons to see through either side of the pool safety fence 100 but can be made of other suitable material as well such as nylon. The hinges 130 are attached to each mesh fence panels 120 which allow the pool safety fence 100 to fold-up for storage in an accordion-style manner and that can be relatively easily extended outward for usage in a plurality of positions as desired. The ground stakes 140 can be inserted into a ground surface 142 to secure and stabilize the pool safety fence 100 to the ground surface 142 when in use. The multi-directional wheels 150 are disposed underneath each mesh fence panel 120 to allow the pool safety fence 100 to be relatively easily transferred or positioned. The pool safety fence 100 can also be provided with a motor 160 to power moving the mesh fence panels 120 into place as desired. The pool safety fence is typically at least 31/2'' in height but can be other suitable heights as well.

[0014] The pool safety fence is made of a plurality of mesh fence panels containing a series of panels equipped with hinges between each panel section. The retractable pool safety fence is a suitable alternative to similar traditional pool fence products. The pool safety fence is relatively easy to use and is provided with a plurality of wheels under each mesh fence panel with built-in retractable latches which can be alternated to either fasten the fence to an exterior pool deck or allow the pool safety fence to be relatively easily retracted. The hinges permit the panels to fold in an accordion-style manner allowing the pool safety fence to be rolled smoothly to a designated area. Among those who will find the retractable pool safety fence both practical and secure, are pool equipment manufacturers and an everyday pool owning consumer. The retractable pool safety fence can also be motorized and the lightweight aluminum pole fence is equipped with the hinged panels afforded a plurality of wheels at the bottom or base of the pool safety fence to further facilitate the process of setting up and removing the pool safety fence. The retractable pool safety fence is designed with a plurality of insertable ground stakes for stabilization, and mesh for the purpose of keeping the view of the pool unobstructed when the retractable pool safety fence is installed or not in use.

[0015] While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.
