Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates generally to a gym wrap, and more particularly to a multi layered gym wrap to protect and prolong the hairstyles of women before, during and after workout or physical activity. On average, it is especially time consuming and expensive for women who exercise to maintain weaves, chemically processing, straightening and relaxing their hair. Moisture generated by the scalp during a workout tends to cause frizz or waves which ruins the hairstyle, leading to wasted time and money. Furthermore, studies have shown that this problem often results in a high percentage of women choosing not to work out.

[0002] Prior art products such as headbands and bandana style products can be found which are designed to keep hair and perspiration off the face during a workout. However, they tend to be bulky with the use of thick pads or desiccants and impractical/unfashionable to wear before, during and after a workout. While somewhat effective in absorbing moisture, none of these products targeted the unique challenges of keeping their hair dry and laced during workout faced by women.

[0003] Therefore it is desirable to provide a gym wrap that helps women to minimize sweating and keep hair flat that is also inexpensive, practical, and aesthetically pleasing, which overcomes the above and other problems.

[0045] FIG. 3 shows a front cutaway view of an embodiment of a multi-layered gym wrap apparatus 300 in a closed configuration, and FIG. 4 is a rear view thereof. The gym wrap includes a second layer 301 sandwiched between a first layer 302 and third layer 303 wherein the second layer 301 overlaps only a portion of the first and third layers. The first, second and third layers are attached to each other at their respective rear edges 304, wherein the first layer is formed of a fabric to form a first fabric layer including a mesh fabric arrangement in direct contact with the second and third layers of the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus and a user when the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus is in a closed configuration, wherein the closed configuration of the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus is coiled in a substantially circular shape. One or more ends of the first, second and third layers form a triple layer and provide a means for fastening 305 the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus wherein the one or more ends of the first, second and third layers of the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus overlapping each other from a left end 306 and a right end 307 when the multi-layered gym wrap apparatus is viewed from the front in an end to end manner and viewed in an uncoiled configuration. The gym wrap apparatus includes an edge control technology treatment arrangement in continuous contact with the ends of the first, second and third layers to increase heat transfer, wherein the first fabric layer of the triple layer gym wrap includes a mesh fabric arrangement including a matrix of small mesh openings 308 to facilitate cooling and heat transfer and the third layer includes a large mesh fabric arrangement with a matrix of large mesh openings 309 wherein said large mesh openings are on average larger than said small mesh openings of the first fabric layer and when configured in a closed configuration increase air flow and cooling to a user.

[0046] In another aspect of the embodiment, the first layer and the third layer are substantially equal in size and shape and are substantially triangular in shape, each of them having a rear edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge, wherein the first layer and the third layer are attached to each other at edges all around, preferably sewed together, wherein the rear edge is substantially straight. The second layer is substantially rectangular having two long edges and two short edges. One of the long edges is attached to the rear edge of the first layer and the third layer, the other long edge and the two short edges preferably are attached to the third layer only, so that there is no visible sew line on the first layer. The long edge of the second layer is shorter than the rear edge of the first and third layers. The second layer is positioned substantially at the center along the rear edge of the gym wrap, and the parts of the first layer and third layer that extend beyond the second layer at the rear edge form two elongated tail sections, making it easier for a user to tie a knot securing the gym wrap on the head. The side edges of the first layer and the third layer curve outwardly at the tail sections, making the tail sections elongated and narrow compared to the overall triangular shape of the gym wrap. The first layer, second layer, and third layer are attached to each other in such a way that the gym wrap lay flat substantially without wrinkles. Despite the overall triangular shape of the gym wrap, it may have rounded corners.

[0047] In yet another aspect of the embodiment (FIG. 7), the gym wrap 700 includes an elongated substantially oval shaped center section 704 where the first layer, second layer, and third layer are substantially equal in size and shape, and said first layer, second layer, and third layer are sewed together at their edges 701. The gym wrap includes an elongated tail section 702 attached to each narrow end 703 of the center section 704. The tail sections may be made of the same fabric material as the first fabric layer. The tail sections may have a dual-layer structure. In one variation, a tail section is made of one piece of fabric, which is folded on one edge and sewed together at the other edge 705. In another variation, a tail section is made of two pieces of fabric, and the tow pieces are sewed together at their side edges. The tail section may have a pointed tip. A user may tie the two tail sections together thus fastening the gym wrap around the user's hair.

[0048] FIG. 8 illustrates the edge control technology treatment arrangement. The matrix of small mesh openings 801 in the first fabric layer 802, the second layer 803, and the matrix of large mesh openings 804 in the third layer 805 form one or more open channels that conduct and accelerate moisture in the direction from the third layer to the first layer, making the gym wrap exceptionally moisture conductive. The large mesh opening may be round, oval, diamond, square, rectangular, or any other suitable shape. The large mesh opening 804 preferably may be 2-4 millimeter long and 1-3 millimeter wide if it is oval, and the like size if it is of another shape. The large mesh openings are preferably spaced 6-10 millimeters apart. The small mesh opening 801 may also be round, oval, diamond, square, rectangular, or any other suitable shape. In a further aspect of the embodiment, the small mesh openings 801 may be so small that they are barely noticeable to the eye. In a yet further aspect of the embodiment, the small mesh openings 801 may be small and evenly distributed like that in a piece of gauze. In some variants, the material for the first fabric layer 802 may have no visible mesh openings but is still sufficiently breathable to enable the edge control technology treatment arrangement.
