Dress-Up

Abstract

The invention is a device that attaches to a zipper clasp to allow a person to easily zip up a long zipper in the back of a garment. The device is comprised of a suspender fastener two (2) inches in width or less and a material component comprised of lanyard material, or ribbon material, or cord material, or cloth material or leather material two (2) inches or less in diameter and forty-five (45) inches or less in length. The device is manufactured to secure the material component to the suspender fastener component to comprise one unit. The invention may also include an attached embellishment that is decorative and not essential to the operation of the device.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] This invention was developed and filed for a Provisional Patent on Sep. 15, 2011 and assigned Provisional Patent Application No. 61/573,970.

[0004] The Dress-Up invention addresses a common problem for clothing containing long zippers in the back of garments. Long zippers in the back of garments may be especially problematic for women's garments seen as dresses or gowns. The invention attaches to a zipper clasp and allows the person to pull it up to close the zipper.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The Dress-Up invention effectively solves the problem of zipping up long zippers in the back of garments. The problem is a person's arm is not being long enough to pull up a long zipper in the back of a garment without struggle or assistance. The solution is my invention that attaches to zipper clasps and facilitates the closure of hard to reach zippers on back of garments. By attaching Dress-Up to a zipper clasp it essentially extends the reach of a person's arm and allows the person to grasp the device and pull up and close a zipper without assistance.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRESS-UP INVENTION

[0008] The zipper suspender fastener attachment component is two (2) inches in width or less. The material component secured to the zipper suspender fastener attachment is a lanyard material, ribbon material, cord material, cloth material or leather material two (2) inches or less in diameter and forty-five (45) inches or less in length. Both components are commercially available on a wholesale or retail basis. The invention may also include an attached embellishment that is decorative and not essential to the operation of the device. Manufacturing assembly requires three steps and may include an optional 4^th step, 1) cut material to length, 2) thread the material through the suspender fastener opening and stitch or glue material together after approximately one (1) inch is threaded through the opening on the suspender fastener opening. 3) Fold material at opposite end and stitch or glue an approximate one and one half inch (11/2) loop to enable the person to grasp the material easily to pull up the zipper. 4) Glue an embellishment on the suspender fastener attachment (optional).

Claims

1. Dress-Up's combined components consisting of the fastener and length of material manufactured to be one device, permits a person to securely fasten the device to the zipper clasp in the back of a garment. The person then puts on the garment, reaches behind and clasps the length of material, to easily and without struggle pull up the zipper.
