Description:

RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This patent application claims priority from provisional patent application No. 61/521,324, having a filing date of Aug. 8, 2011.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] This invention relates to a revolver handgun that has an interchangeable ammunition clip for quick reloading of the bullets in the cylinder.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] Revolvers are generally more reliable than non-revolver handguns, which are commonly called semi-automatic or automatic pistols, which use ammunition from a magazine. Both the semi-automatic and automatic will be referred to herein as a "semi-automatic."

[0004] However the average revolver holds less ammunition in its cylinder then a semi's magazine.

[0005] The pivoting part that supports the cylinder is the crane. The bullet is housed in the chamber of the cylinder before firing. After firing the jacket of the bullet is retained in the chamber, and then discharged, usually from the rear.

[0006] Typically with revolvers, the cylinder is mounted on a pivot that is coaxial with the chambers, and the cylinder swings out and down, usually to the left. An extractor is fitted, operated by a rod projecting from the front of the cylinder assembly. When pressed, it will push all fired rounds free simultaneously. The cylinder may then be loaded, singly or again with a speedloader, closed, and latched in place for firing.

[0007] What is needed is a revolver that can be reloaded quicker than using the speedloader or by inserting individual bullets into the cylinder.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] One aspect of the present invention is a revolver with an ammunition clip, comprising a cylinder that is capable of easily and quickly receiving and replacing cylinder clips to enable the revolver handler to quickly reload the revolver.

[0009] These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0010] FIG. 1 is a pictorial view of one embodiment of the present invention;

[0011] FIG. 2 is a sectional view of FIG. 1;

[0012] FIG. 3 is another pictorial view of one embodiment of the present invention; and

[0013] FIG. 4 is a sectional view of one embodiment of the present invention.

[0023] The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

[0024] Certain terminology will be used in the following description for convenience and reference only, and will not be limiting. For example, the words "upwardly," "downwardly," "rightwardly," and "leftwardly" will refer to directions in the drawings to which reference is made. The words "inwardly" and "outwardly" will refer to directions toward and away from, respectively, the geometric center of the system and designated parts. Said terminology will include the words specifically mentioned, derivatives, and similar words. Also, "connected to," "secured to," or similar language includes the definitions "indirectly connected to," "directly connected to," "indirectly secured to," and "directly secured to."

[0025] FIG. 1 illustrates one embodiment of the present invention 10, referred to herein as a revolver with ammunition clip 10. The revolver with ammunition clip 10 may appear as a standard revolver.

[0026] FIG. 2 illustrates one embodiment of the present invention 10. In one embodiment the cylinder with ammunition clip 10 may have a cylinder 50 that is capable of receiving an ammunition clip 30. The ammunition clip 30 is capable of receiving ammunition or bullets 40. A retaining means 60 may fasten on a cylinder clip's rear side 80 to prevent the bullets 40 from falling out the rear side 80. The retaining means 60 may be removably secured to the clip rear side 80.

[0027] In one embodiment, the retaining means 60 is threadably engaged with the clip rear side 80, so, for example, it can be rotated clockwise to be placed on the clip rear side 80, and rotated counterclockwise to be removed from the clip rear side 80.

[0028] In another embodiment, as seen in FIG. 3, the clip rear side 80 may have a tab 90 extending forwardly from an edge 100. The retaining means 60 may have an inwardly extending member 110, so that the retaining means 60 can be placed on the clip rear side 80, and the inwardly extending members 110 can be positioned forwardly and in contact with the tabs 90 so that the retaining means 60 may be removably secured to the cylinder clip 30. Other means of having the retaining means 60 removably secured to the clip rear side may be magnetism or the use of magnets.

[0029] FIG. 3 also illustrates an embodiment of the bullets 40, and an embodiment of a discharge means 70.

[0030] FIG. 4 illustrates a sectional view, showing the cylinder clip 30 removably disposed within the cylinder 50.

[0031] In operation, after the ammunition is used, then the cylinder 50 can be opened, and the ammunition clip or cylinder clip 30 can be quickly replaced with a new cylinder clip 30 with new ammunition inside.

[0032] It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

[0033] The present invention may be made from a variety of materials, which may include, but not be limited to a composite, metallic, or metal.
