1. A textured, colored artificial Christmas tree pole covering system
includes a concealed air freshener and an exterior resembling a natural
tree bark.Description:
[0001] This application claims priority based upon U.S. Provisional patent
application Ser. No. 61/397,163, filed Jun. 8, 2010.
[0002] The invention comprises a cover which is mounted on the base of an artificial Christmas tree. The cover is shaped and dimensioned and colored to imitate the exterior, or bark, of a real Christmas tree. Further, the cover includes an air freshener system which dispenses a pine scent or other scent into the ambient air.
[0003] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a cover 10 constructed in accordance with a presently preferred embodiment of the invention.
[0004] In FIG. 1, generally cylindrical hollow cover 10 includes semi-cylindrical halves 20, 21 each with a semi-cylindrical outer surface 20E and 21E, respectively. Outer surfaces 20E and 21E are shaped and dimensioned and contoured and colored to resemble the bark on the particular kind of tree which the artificial Christmas tree is replicating. Flexible clip assembly 11 is secured to the interior of semi-cylindrical half 20 and is shaped and dimensioned to snap onto and engage the base of the "trunk" of an artificial Christmas tree. Fingers 12, 13 on semi-cylindrical half 20 each snap into a semi-cylindrical detent 14, 15 in the opposing semi-cylindrical half 21. Clips 16 fixedly secured to the interior of semi-cylindrical half 21 receive and secure in place air freshener packet 17. Packet 17 can, if desired, include a gel fragrance or any other means of producing a fragrance which is released from freshener packet 17 into the ambient air. Perforations 18 extend around cover 10. Perforations 19 extend around cover 10. Perforations 18, 19 permit the height of cover 10 to be reduced by removing sections of cover 10 along said perforations.
