Abstract:
A two piece in-line smoking device meant for smoking small amounts of
tobacco or other substances. A mouthpiece portion is inserted into a
chamber portion and crimps a filter medium into place against a filter
support permanently attached near the chamber portion top end. An
internal conical lip extends around the inner circumference of the
chamber portion bottom end. A method for preventing substance from
falling out of the chamber portion includes filling the chamber portion
cavity with substance and then adding an additional small amount of
substance whereby the additional amount is pressed against the bottom end
inner lip and against the first portion of added substance thereby
forming a plug that prevents substance from falling out of the chamber
portion.Claims:
1. A tubular housing comprised of two in-line portions including a
mouthpiece portion and a chamber portion whereby: said mouthpiece portion
and said chamber portion are removably attached to one another using
attachment means; and said housing is comprised of a metal or ceramic
material or a combination thereof.
2. The attachment means of claim 1 including but not limited to: a threaded male portion located on the bottom end of said mouthpiece portion and a corresponding threaded female portion located on the top end of said chamber portion whereby said bottom end is screwed into said top end; and whereby the outside diameter of said bottom end of said mouthpiece portion is marginally smaller than the internal diameter of said top end of said chamber portion and whereby slidably inserting said bottom end into said top end comprises a frictional attachment means that holds said housing together.
3. An internal filter support portion permanently attached inside the chamber portion at the terminus of said threaded female portion whereby utilizing said attachment means causes the bottom lip of said mouthpiece bottom end to crimp a filter medium against said filter support portion when said mouthpiece bottom end is fully inserted into said top end of said chamber portion.
4. The filter support portion of claim 3 whereby: said filter support is a perforated disc; or said filter support is an internal ring or lip protruding outward from the internal wall of said combustion chamber.
5. The chamber portion of claim 1 further comprising an internal cavity portion located between the bottom side of said filter support and the bottom edge of said chamber portion.
6. The bottom edge of claim 4 comprising an internal lip portion located around the internal circumference of said bottom edge of said chamber portion whereby: said lip portion is conical; said lip portion is rounded; said lip portion is comprised of flat surfaces; or said lip portion is a combination of conical, rounded and/or flat surfaces.
7. A method for keeping substances to be burned and inhaled inside said cavity portion whereby: said cavity portion is filled up to the level of the lip portion of claim 5 with the desired substance to be burned; an additional amount of said substance is stuffed into said cavity so that enough of said substance extends through the internal lip portion of claim 5; and whereby the portion of said substance passing through said lip portion forms a plug that prevents said substance from falling out of said cavity.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] 1. Field of the Invention
[0004] The present invention relates to devices for smoking tobacco or other burned substances. More specifically, the present invention relates to cigarettes or pipes whereby substances are burned in a chamber or combustion portion in near proximity to a mouthpiece used to inhale the smoke from the burned substance. More specifically, the present invention relates to smoking devices which allow use of a removable filter medium for smoke filtration.
[0005] 2. Description of Related Art
[0006] Both the cigarette and the pipe are well known in the prior art as smoking devices. They differ mainly in the fact that a pipe bowl is stuffed with substance to be burned whereas a cigarette is rolled with combustible paper and a filter medium that removes tar and toxins but also cools smoke.
[0007] There also exists in the prior art mouthpieces that allow one to replace a filter medium, however, these exist only in the context of water pipes or hookahs.
[0008] However, there does not exist in the prior art a non disposable cigarette housing that can be stuffed with a small amount of substance to be burned and which allows for filter medium replacement. There also does not exist in the prior art a cigarette type device which is suited to those desiring a very short smoking experience other than the option of disposing of the partially smoked cigarette.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] A tubular in-line two piece metal or ceramic housing in the proximate diameter and length of a small cigarette. The first piece is a mouthpiece portion containing male threads on its bottom end. The second piece has female threads on its top end which terminate internally in a filter support disc extending across the diameter of the tube and which is perforated with a plurality of small openings. A circular filter medium is inserted against the filter support so that the mouthpiece portion crimps the filter against the filter support when screwed into the second piece. The outer end of the second piece has an internal conical lip meant to aid in containing substance to be burned which is stuffed into a chamber extending from the inner side of the filter support portion to the outer end of the second piece.
[0010] It is therefore a purpose of the present invention to provide a means for smoking substance to be burned without having to inhale burned paper.
[0011] It is another purpose of the present invention to provide a substance to be burned smoking device that enables the user to choose a desired filter medium and to replace filter mediums at desired intervals.
[0012] It is another purpose of the present invention to provide a smoking device that is constructed specifically for the short smoking session so as to get a quick hit from the inhaled substances being smoked.
[0013] The characteristics and utilities of the present invention described in this summary and the detailed description below are not all inclusive. Many additional features and advantages will be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art given the following drawings, specifications and claims.
(BRIEF) DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0014] The present invention may be better understood, and its numerous features and advantages made apparent to those skilled in the art by referencing the accompanying drawings. For ease of understanding and simplicity, common numbering of elements within the illustrations is employed to identify an element in the different drawings.
[0015] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the mouthpiece portion.
[0016] FIG. 2 is a dissected view of the chamber portion.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0017] The present invention relates to a tubular two piece in-line housing made of metal or ceramic. The two pieces of the housing are a mouthpiece portion 100 that is screwed or slid into the second piece chamber portion 200. In a preferred embodiment, when the mouthpiece portion 100 is unscrewed or slid apart from the chamber portion 200 a perforated filter support disc 260 is exposed whereby a small round filter medium disc can be inserted against the filter support disc 260 and crimped into place by reinserting the mouthpiece portion 100. In another embodiment, a cylindrical filter is inserted into the tubular mouthpiece portion and held in place frictionally by the mouthpiece internal surface. The chamber portion 200 contains an internal cavity 300 located between the filter support disc bottom side 265 and the chamber portion bottom edge 140. The chamber portion bottom end 305 contains a conical inner lip 320 whereby the diameter of the opening to the chamber portion bottom end 305 is smaller than the inner diameter of the cavity portion 300.
[0018] A method for stuffing the cavity portion 300 is employed whereby the substance to be burned can be held in the cavity portion 300 without falling out if the device is held positionally in a manner that would otherwise cause the substance to be burned to fall or slide out of the cavity portion bottom end 305. The method includes filling the cavity portion 300 with substance to be burned to the outer edge lip of the chamber bottom end 305; a second smaller amount of substance to be burned is then stuffed on top of the original amount so that substance to be burned extends outside the chamber portion bottom end 305 and is crimped into place by the smaller diameter conical inner lip portion 320. This method forms a plug in the chamber portion bottom end 305 whereby the remaining substance to be burned is prevented from falling out of the device.
