ovides a detachable, partial shoe/boot cover to
be an accessory to open toe post -operative shoes and cam walker boots,
as well as other open toe type shoes and or boots. The detachable shoe
cover consists of a base, a cover, and a hook and loop attachment system.
The base is made of a rigid, yet flexible material allowing it to form to
the shape of the shoe it will be attached to. The base is sized to
stretch from interior mid-point of the shoe sole to the exterior
mid-point of the shoe sole around the toe of the shoe. The cover will be
attached to the base and made of soft, flexible fabric. The hook and loop
attachment system will allow the cover to be attached to the shoe and
easily removed when needed. The cover allows the wearer some comfort and
protection from the elements of weather and helps prevent foreign matter
from infiltrating an open toe shoe/boot.Claims:
1. We claim a Detachable Shoe Cover For Open Toe Shoe or Boot consisting
of a base that may be constructed of a strip of material to include but
not be limited to rubber, plastic, or any other such composite, either
man-made or natural that is rigid vertically, but flexible laterally to
extend from the right mid-point of the sole, around the toe of the shoe
or boot, to the left mid-point of the sole in approximately a U-shape
dependant on the shape of the toe of the shoe or boot, be it round,
square, or pointed; a cover that may be constructed of a soft, flexible
fabric, either natural or man-made, to include but not be limited to
cotton, canvas, Spandex® like material, leather, or plastic that may
be attached to or made part of the base either by spraying, dipping,
brushing on, sewing, gluing, or encapsulation by compression or injection
molding along the entire length of the base and to extend from the right
mid-point of the sole of the shoe or boot vertically over the instep of
said shoe or boot to the left mid-point of the sole and covering the
entire toe end of the shoe or boot above the sole in a roughly half-dome
shape; and a hook and loop attachment system, of which the hook portion
will extend along the length of the base and be attached to the base and
cover by glue and/or sewing, while the loop portion will be provided with
the detachable shoe cover to be attached to the vertical edge of the
shoe/boot sole with glue and/or mechanical attachment allowing the shoe
cover to be attached or detached from said shoe/boot as needed.Description:
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0001] This detachable partial shoe/boot cover will be used primarily in the medical field to provide comfort to the wearer, protection from some elements of weather, aid in prevention of foreign matter and/or debris into the shoe/boot by enclosing the open toe of the shoe/boot to include but not be limited to medical post-operative shoes, post-operative boot casts, cam walkers, sandals, and any other known open toe shoe or boot.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0002] 1. Figure A is a top view of the present invention. [0003] Reference point 1 shows the hook strip section of a hook and loop attachment system attached to the inside of the base. which is depicted by reference point 2, Reference point 3 refers to the soft cover portion.
[0004] 2. Figure B is a side view of the present invention. [0005] Reference point 1 shows the hook strip section of a hook and loop attachment system attached to the inside of the base which is hidden and depicted by the dashed line. Reference, point 2 indicates the base. Reference point 3 refers to the soft cover portion.
[0006] 3. Figure C is a rear view of the present invention. [0007] Reference point 1 shows the hook strip section of a hook and loop attachment system attached to the inside of the base, which is depicted by reference point 2. Reference point 3 refers to the soft cover portion.
[0008] 4. Figure D is a side view of the present invention showing said invention applied to an open toe post-operative shoe, the rear corner has been turned up to reveal the attachment system. [0009] Reference point 1 shows the base of the detachable shoe cover. Reference point 2 shows the hook strip section of a hook and loop attachment system and Reference point 4 depicts the loop strip section of that same attachment system. Reference point 3 refers to the soft cover portion.
