Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001]1. Field of the Invention

[0002]The present invention relates to a mat and, more particularly, to a slip resistant doormat which is placed in several places such as in front of a door or bathroom.

[0003]2. Description of the Related Art

[0004]A conventional mat in accordance with the prior art shown in FIG. 4 comprises a fuzz layer 50, a resin cotton 51 having a first side combined with the fuzz layer 50, and a coarse cloth 52 having a first side combined with a second side of the resin cotton 51 and a second side provided with a plurality protrusions 53. Thus, the protrusions 53 of the coarse cloth 52 provide a non-slip function.

[0005]However, the mat consists of the fuzz layer 50, the resin cotton 51 and the coarse cloth 52, and the coarse cloth 52 is provided with the protrusions 53 previously, so that the conventional mat has a complicated construction, thereby greatly increasing the cost of fabrication. In addition, the protrusions 53 are spaced from each other so that the protrusions 53 have a smaller friction area, thereby decreasing the non-slip effect of the mat. Further, the coarse cloth 52 and the protrusions 53 are easily worn out due to a frequent washing, thereby decreasing the lifetime of the conventional mat. Further, the resin cotton 51 is dirtied easily and will accumulate dust or dermatophagoides easily.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006]In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a mat, comprising a lint layer including a substrate cloth and a fuzz layer combined with the substrate cloth, and a non-slip layer combined with the substrate cloth of the lint layer integrally. The non-slip layer is made of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The non-slip layer has a first face provided with a joint face combined with the substrate cloth of the lint layer and a second face provided with a non-slip face. The non-slip layer is fused at a high temperature to have a plastic feature so that the joint face of the non-slip layer is infiltrated into the substrate cloth of the lint layer.

[0007]The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a mat having a lower cost of fabrication.

[0008]According to another objective of the present invention, the mat consists of the lint layer and the non-slip layer only so that the mat has a greatly simplified construction, thereby decreasing the cost of fabrication.

[0009]According to a further objective of the present invention, the non-slip layer has a rubber feature at the normal temperature to provide a non-slip function so that the non-slip face of the non-slip layer has a larger friction area to enhance the non-slip effect of the mat.

[0010]According to a further objective of the present invention, the mat consists of the lint layer and the non-slip layer only so that the mat has a lighter weight and can be washed by a washing machine.

[0011]According to a further objective of the present invention, the non-slip face of the non-slip layer can be washed frequently without producing wear, thereby enhancing the lifetime of the mat.

[0012]According to a further objective of the present invention, the mat has a simple structure, and the lint layer is directly combined with the non-slip layer without having to add a chemical solvent so as to prevent from incurring an environmental pollution and to prevent causing danger to the user.

[0013]Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

[0014]FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a mat in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[0015]FIG. 2 is a front cross-sectional view of the mat as shown in FIG. 1.

[0016]FIG. 3 is a partially exploded view of the mat as shown in FIG. 2.

[0017]FIG. 4 is a front cross-sectional view of a conventional mat in accordance with the prior art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0018]Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, a mat 10 in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a lint layer 20 and a non-slip layer 30 combined with the lint layer 20.

[0019]The lint layer 20 includes a substrate cloth 21 and a fuzz layer 22 combined with the substrate cloth 21. The substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20 has a first face combined with the non-slip layer 30 and a second face combined with the fuzz layer 22.

[0020]The non-slip layer 30 is made of a rubber having a non-slip feature. Preferably, the non-slip layer 30 is made of a thermoplastic material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) or a thermoplastic rubber (TPR). The non-slip layer 30 is combined with the substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20 integrally. The non-slip layer 30 has a first face provided with a joint face 31 combined with the substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20 and a second face provided with a non-slip face 32. The joint face 31 of the non-slip layer 30 laminates the substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20. The joint face 31 of the non-slip layer 30 is combined with the first face of the substrate cloth 21.

[0021]In fabrication of the mat 10, referring to FIG. 3 with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the non-slip layer 30 is made of a thermoplastic material, so that when the lint layer 20 and the non-slip layer 30 are pressed and extruded by an extruding machine during the forming process, the non-slip layer 30 is fused at a high temperature to form a liquid state and have a plastic feature. In such a manner, the joint face 31 of the non-slip layer 30 that is disposed at a liquid state is infiltrated into the weaving gaps of the substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20, so that the joint face 31 of the non-slip layer 30 is combined with the substrate cloth 21 of the lint layer 20 closely. Thus, after the non-slip layer 30 is solidified, the non-slip layer 30 is combined with the lint layer 20 solidly and stably. At this time, the non-slip layer 30 has a rubber feature at the normal temperature to provide a non-slip function.

[0022]Accordingly, the mat 10 consists of the lint layer 20 and the non-slip layer 30 only so that the mat 10 has a greatly simplified construction, thereby decreasing the cost of fabrication. In addition, the non-slip layer 30 has a rubber feature at the normal temperature to provide a non-slip function so that the non-slip face 32 of the non-slip layer 30 has a larger friction area to enhance the non-slip effect of the mat 10. Further, the mat 10 consists of the lint layer 20 and the non-slip layer 30 only so that the mat 10 has a lighter weight and can be washed by a washing machine. Further, the non-slip face 32 of the non-slip layer 30 can be washed frequently without producing wear, thereby enhancing the lifetime of the mat 10. Further, the mat 10 provides a non-slip function indoor. Further, the mat 10 can absorb water and has a non-slip function in the bathroom. Further, when the mat 10 is placed on a table, the mat 10 functions as a cup mat to absorb water and to provide a non-slip function.

[0023]Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
