20090067923 | Portable Perimeter Defense System - A portable perimeter defense system is provided that is configured for preventing unwanted intrusions by vehicles or other heavy and fast-moving vehicles into a protected area while also providing requisite ballistic resistance capabilities. The defense system includes individual modular barriers that can be readily transported to a point of use and can be secured in place without requiring heavy equipment or power sources, such as electricity. This can be readily achieved with as few as one person. The modular barriers include a front plate configured to provide exceptional ballistic protection in the direction of impact and to provide an impact surface capable of withstanding impact. When circumstances warrant a double row portable perimeter defense system, a bracing system is provided to render parallel rows of barriers cooperative to prevent aft tilting of the impacted forward barriers. The bracing system transfers an impact force against the forward barrier rearward and downward toward a base plate of the rearward barrier. A method of protecting an area with a portable perimeter defense system and method of installing a portable perimeter defense system is also provided. | 03-12-2009 |
20100043142 | WALL BED ASSEMBLY - A wall bed assembly including a wall cabinet and a bed frame. The bed frame is pivoted from a vertical, stored position within the wall cabinet to a horizontal position for use as a bed. The bed frame is connected to the wall cabinet with a pivot bracket secured to the bed frame which pivotally attaches to the lower end of a counterbalancing piston. The pivot bracket is pivotally secured to a fulcrum member of a plate secured to the wall cabinet's side panel. The upper end of the counterbalancing piston is pivotally secured to a plate that attaches to the wall cabinet side panel. Accordingly, the bed frame may be pivoted between the vertical and horizontal positions. Additionally, the bed frame includes a pair of legs for supporting the frame in the horizontal position. The legs are non-linear and are pivotally attached to the sides of the bed frame such that they are positioned to support the bed frame due to gravitational forces as the bed frame is moved to the horizontal position. The wall bed assembly also includes retractable magnets for securing the bed frame in the vertical position. A safety release position is also provided such that when said bed frame is released from the vertical position it assumes the safety release position. Additional forces must be applied for the bed frame to assume the horizontal position. Unintentional repositioning of the bed frame from the wall cabinet is thereby prevented. A bed frame assembly for a customizable wall cabinet is also provided. | 02-25-2010 |
20100290833 | PORTABLE PERIMETER DEFENSE BARRIER AND SYSTEM - A portable perimeter defense system is provided that is configured for preventing unwanted intrusions by vehicles or other heavy and fast-moving vehicles into a protected area while also providing requisite ballistic resistance capabilities. The defense system includes at least one individual modular barrier that can be readily transported to a point of use and can be secured in place without requiring heavy equipment or power sources, such as electricity. The modular barrier includes a front plate configured to provide ballistic protection in the direction of impact and to provide an impact surface capable of withstanding impact. The front plate extends upwardly from a base plate and a kick plate extends outwardly from the rear or aft side of the front plate. The front or fore edge of the base plate defines a vehicle engaging interface, the rear or aft edge of the base plate is arcuate and defines a ground engaging interface, and the rear or aft edge of the kick plate defines a ground engaging interface. A ramp is positioned on the base plate in front of the front plate facing the impact direction. When circumstances warrant additional protection and/or a greater span of protection, a plurality of modular barriers may be provided in predetermined configurations. Adjacent barriers may be secured to one another along side edges thereof. The portable perimeter defense system including modular barriers provides exceptional protection to a protected area and may be rapidly deployed. | 11-18-2010 |
