20090173112 | Enhanced tracing of lost luggage using lock having coated housing and binary display - A method of tracing lost airline luggage locked by a special lock after the airline luggage was checked and screened by a luggage screening entity comprises providing the lock openable only by key and master key and having a metal body surrounded by a flexible rubber coating to prevent breakage. The housing includes a unique serial number and tracing information and a re-settable binary display indicating whether the luggage screening entity used the master key to open the lock. Consumers are told to register the lock with the tracing entity and check in the luggage without exposing passenger contact information, and that a finder of the luggage, if lost, can use the tracing information and serial number to return the luggage for a reward whereupon the passenger can from the binary display determine whether the luggage screening entity opened the luggage. | 07-09-2009 |

20150331228 | PTYCHOGRAPHY IMAGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS WITH CONVEX RELAXATION - Certain aspects pertain to ptychographic imaging systems and methods with convex relaxation. In some aspects, a ptychographic imaging system with convex relaxation comprises one or more electromagnetic radiation sources, a digital radiation intensity detector, and a processor in communication with the digital radiation detector. The electromagnetic radiation provides coherent radiation to a specimen while the digital radiation intensity detector receives light transferred from the sample by diffractive optics and captures intensity distributions for a sequence of low resolution images having diversity. The processor generates a convex problem based on the sequence of low resolution images and optimizes the convex problem to reconstruct a high-resolution image of the specimen. In certain aspects, the convex problem is relaxed into a low-rank formulation. | 11-19-2015 |

20090222226 | Method and Apparatus for On-Line Compressed Sensing - A typical data acquisition system takes periodic samples of a signal, image, or other data, often at the so-called Nyquist/Shannon sampling rate of two times the data bandwidth in order to ensure that no information is lost. In applications involving wideband signals, the Nyquist/Shannon sampling rate is very high, even though the signals may have a simple underlying structure. Recent developments in mathematics and signal processing have uncovered a solution to this Nyquist/Shannon sampling rate bottlenck for signals that are sparse or compressible in some representation. We demonstrate and reduce to practice methods to extract information directly from an analog or digital signal based on altering our notion of sampling to replace uniform time samples with more general linear functionals. One embodiment of our invention is a low-rate analog-to-information converter that can replace the high-rate analog-to-digital converter in certain applications involving wideband signals. Another embodiment is an encoding scheme for wideband discrete-time signals that condenses their information content. | 09-03-2009 |

20120063597 | APPARATUS AND ASSOCIATED METHODOLOGY FOR MANAGING CONTENT CONTROL KEYS - A method of exchanging secret session keys in symmetric encryption communication includes storing random number tables in both the sending and receiving devices. The sending device then determines the secret session key utilizing the random number table, and transmits to the receiving device information for locating the secret session key within the random number table. Thus, the sending device shares the secret session key with the receiving device without actually transmitting the secret session key. The random number tables may be transmitted from one device to the other or be preinstalled in each device. Further, a common seed value may be used by each device to generate the random number table independently. | 03-15-2012 |

20080281548 | Method and System for Automatic Defect Detection of Articles in Visual Inspection Machines - There is provided a method for establishing a parameters setup for inspecting a plurality of articles by an automatic inspection system. The method includes inspecting a first article by the inspection system, applying an automatic defects detection method according to a given set of inspection parameters, receiving an initial map of defects and sorting uncovered defects into defect types according to a predetermined set of defect types. While sorting defects, if new defects not recognized by the inspection system are detected, adding the new defects to the initial map to be sorted and automatically setting the inspection parameters by means of applying computational dedicated algorithms, using a heuristic approach, to form a modified parameters setup. The modified parameters setup is then used for obtaining a modified map of detected defects, and the modified parameters setup for inspecting other of the plurality of articles. A system for establishing a parameters setup for inspecting a plurality of articles is also provided. | 11-13-2008 |
