20090122312 | Detection system for detecting an analyte in a fluid medium - This invention relates to a detection system for detecting an analyte in a fluid medium. The detection system comprises a substrate that provides mechanical stability and is sized and shaped to intercept an infrared beam. A reactive material is coated on the substrate. When contacted with the analyte in the fluid medium, the reactive material reacts with the analyte and is altered. The detection system also comprises an infrared spectrometer producing the infrared beam that passes through the reactive material to a detector of the spectrometer. The alteration of the reactive material allows the spectrometer to identify and quantify the analyte. In one embodiment, the reactive material irreversibly reacts with the analyte. In another embodiment, the spectrometer is a non-ATR infrared spectrometer. In a further embodiment, the substrate is a disposable substrate. | 05-14-2009 |
20110052447 | Detection System for Detecting and Measuring Metal Ions in an Aqueous Medium - A detection system for detecting and measuring a metal ion in an aqueous medium includes a substrate that provides mechanical stability and is sized and shaped to intercept an optical beam (for example, a beam in the ultraviolet, visible or infraredregion). A reactive material is attached to the substrate, for example attached to the surface of the substrate or to a film that coats the substrate. The reactive material is capable of reacting with the metal ion and changing its optical spectrum upon reacting. For example, in one embodiment the reactive material includes a chelator that bonds to the metal ion to form a chelate complex. The detection system also includes an optical spectrometer producing the optical beam that passes through the reactive material to a detector of the spectrometer. For example, the spectrometer may be a Fourier transform, dispersive or filter based spectrometer. The changing of the optical spectrum of the reactive material allows the spectrometer to detect and measure the metal ion. | 03-03-2011 |

The solid phase extraction material and the reactive material are positioned in an aqueous medium containing the metal ion, such that the metal ion contacts the reactive material and causes it to chemically react. The reaction of the reactive material is detected by optical spectroscopy to detect and measure the metal ion. | 11-17-2011 |
20120274933 | Detection system for airborne particles - This invention relates to a detection system for particles suspended in a gas. 20140315412 | Electric Cable Plug Connecting Device and Method - A plug adaptor device and method for using the same, the device including anchor and clip components for attachment with electric cable plugs and/or wall (or floor) sockets or socket faceplates. Corresponding anchor and clip components are separately attachable to electric cable plugs or sockets and used to secure plug to plug or plug to socket connections. The components are engaged by sliding the toe portion of the clip over the anchor so that a claw protrusion fits snugly behind the inside edge of the anchor thus preventing the connected plugs (or plug and socket) from being accidentally disconnected. When engaged, the plug adaptor device provides enough resistance to an opposing pulling force to prevent accidental disconnections allowing disconnection with application of a reasonable amount of pulling force in emergency situations. | 10-23-2014 |

20100066731 | Configurator Process and System - A configurator that creates multi angle images of a product that can be configured with options, accessories, colors and the like in 2d imagery, which does not require special software or hardware to view and interact with the configurator. The configurator automatically generates layer logic of how the product can be assembled for use in a configurator engine to manage the relationships of the 2d art layers. The approach outlined here has moved the linking and logic to the generation phase of the layers thereby automatically generating the configuration logic file at rendering that can be used by a simple program to assemble the layers for a visual interface. Essentially, 2d images are created in a layering scheme from 3d models that can be assembled into any combination based on logic to support various configurations of products. The layering scheme approach prevents the need to render complete product image for each combination including breaking into most/least common factors in separate layers and assembling after the fact. Optimization reduces the number of combinations required for multi-angle images of a configured product. The imagery and logic can be updated without as much manual involvement. | 03-18-2010 |

By configuring the external crossbar switch, the output of a first operation on a first PetaFlops Node may be used as the input for a second operation on a second PetaFlops Node. An embodiment may provide an ability for the system to recognize and generate pipelined functions. Streaming operators may be connected together at run-time and appropriately staged to allow data to flow through a series of functions. This allows the system to provide high throughput and parallelism when possible. The PetaFlops Router may implement the user desired instructions by appropriately configuring the intra-FPGA crossbar switch on each PetaFlops Node and the external crossbar switch. | 10-20-2011 |

20160132714 | FIRE URGENCY ESTIMATOR IN GEOSYNCHRONOUS ORBIT (FUEGO) - A fire detector is disclosed that successively images a particular area from geosynchronous Earth orbit satellite to attain very good signal-to-noise ratios against Poisson fluctuations within one second. Differences between such images allow for the automatic detection of small fires greater than 12 square meters. Imaging typically takes place in transparent bands of the infrared spectrum, thereby rendering smoke from the fire and light clouds somewhat transparent. Several algorithms are disclosed that can help reduce false fire alarms, and their efficiencies are shown. Early fire detection and response would be of great value in the United States and other nations, as wild land fires destroy property and lives and contribute around five percent of the US global carbon dioxide contribution. Such apparatus would incorporate modern imaging detectors, software, and algorithms able to detect heat from early and small fires, and yield detection times on a scale of minutes. | 05-12-2016 |
