20160051278 | Surgical Snare Device - A surgical snare device for use in polypectomy procedures includes a snare loop capable of being deployed with a plurality of precise internal diameters. The device includes a handle with first and second handle assemblies and a collar. The first handle assembly has multiple numerical markings on a side. The second handle assembly is slidable along the first handle assembly to deploy the snare loop from an elongate tubular sheath attached to the distal end of the first handle assembly. When the second handle assembly is slid to a position such that it aligns with one of the numerical markings on the first handle assembly, the snare loop will be deployed with an internal diameter in millimeters that corresponds precisely to the numerical marking. For example, sliding the second handle assembly to a ‘10’ marking will deploy a snare loop having an internal diameter of 10 mm. The collar is positioned just distal to the second handle assembly and is also slidable along the first handle assembly. The collar functions as a depth stop and prevents further distal movement of the second handle assembly. | 02-25-2016 |

20120284275 | UTILIZING OFFLINE CLUSTERS FOR REALTIME CLUSTERING OF SEARCH RESULTS - Techniques for clustering of search results are described. In an example embodiment, a plurality of first clusters is determined, in a corpus of articles, independently of user queries issued against the corpus of articles, where each first cluster represents a group of articles that relate to a news story. One or more cluster identifiers are assigned to each article in the corpus, where the one or more cluster identifiers respectively identify one or more of the plurality of first clusters to which the article belongs. A query that specifies search criteria against the corpus of articles is received. In response to receiving the query, a result for the query is generated by at least selecting, from the corpus of articles, a set of articles based on the search criteria. The selected set of articles is grouped into one or more second clusters based at least on the one or more cluster identifiers that are assigned to each article in the set of articles. In the result for the query, the set of articles is organized according to the one or more second clusters. | 11-08-2012 |
20120303623 | SYSTEM FOR INCREMENTALLY CLUSTERING NEWS STORIES - Disclosed are methods and apparatus for clustering news stories, which are to be presented over a computer network. In general, an incremental clustering system is configured to update a current set of news clusters with newly arrived news articles without having to recompute the clusters for the entire corpus, as well as form new clusters for recently generated news topics. In one embodiment, a plurality of news articles are initially obtained via the computer network, and the news articles are clustered into a plurality of initial clusters. For only news articles, including any unclustered news articles, that are less than a predetermined age limit, it is determined in an incremental clustering process whether to form one or more new clusters or assign to the initial clusters. Indications of the initial clusters and the one or more new clusters, if any, are then stored so as to be accessible for sending a portion of the news articles to users in a clustered format based on the initial clusters and the one or more new clusters, if any. | 11-29-2012 |

20150094222 | QUANTITATIVE MULTIPLEX METHYLATION SPECIFIC PCR METHOD- cMethDNA, REAGENTS, AND ITS USE - The cMethDNA method of the present invention is a novel modification of the QM-MSP method (U.S. Pat. No. 8,062,849), specifically intended to quantitatively detect tumor DNA (or other circulating DNAs) in fluids such as serum or plasma at the lowest copy number yet reported. Unique compared to any other PCR-based assay, a small number of copies of a synthetic polynucleotide standard (STDgene) is added to an aliquot of patient serum. In a standard procedure, a cocktail of standards for a plurality of genes of interest (TARGETgene) is added to a sample of serum. Once total DNA is purified and processed, a PCR (multiplex step) is performed wherein the STDgene and the TARGETgene are co-amplified with the same external primer set. In the N second nested PCR step, amplicons present in a dilution of the first PCR reaction are subjected to real time PCR, and quantified for each gene in one well by two-color real-time PCR. Products are calculated by absolute quantitation with internal primer sets specific for the methylated TARGETgene and associated STDgene. Methods of making the STDgene standards and the use of the cMethDNA methods and kits containing the same are disclosed. | 04-02-2015 |
