A wireless device operating in multiple-in, multiple-put (MIMO) mode maintains a first communications interface with an access point while establishing a second communications interface by downgrading the existing MIMO connection to a single-in, single-out (SISO) connection. The downgrading of the MIMO connection to a SISO connection frees up a radio signal processing chain to establish a second communications interface utilizing the BSS and radio measurement information from the first communications interface. | 12-04-2014 |
20140369246 | Traffic Tunnel For End to End Low Latency - A communication circuitry includes a media access control including a first wireless interface and a second wireless interface. An application processor includes a network stack connected with the media access control. A communication packet is routed from the first wireless interface to the second wireless interface or from the second wireless interface to the first wireless interface without sending the communication packet to the network stack. | 12-18-2014 |
20140376392 | PARALLEL SCANNING OF WIRELESS CHANNELS - Methods, systems, and apparatus for parallel scanning of channels in communication networks are described herein. A parallel scanning device performs a scanning operation that includes parallel (i.e., simultaneous) scanning of channels that are in a common frequency band or in different frequency bands. The parallel scanning of channels results in a reduction of scan time, which reduces power consumption. Furthermore, a scanning operation may undesirably interrupt and/or delay normal communication traffic to and from the parallel scanning device, and the comparatively shorter scan time resulting from the parallel scanning operation can reduce such interruption and/or delay. | 12-25-2014 |

20100322518 | IMAGE SEGMENTATION BY HIERARCHIAL AGGLOMERATION OF POLYGONS USING ECOLOGICAL STATISTICS - A method for rapid hierarchical image segmentation based on perceptually driven contour completion and scene statistics is disclosed. The method begins with an initial fine-scale segmentation of an image, such as obtained by perceptual completion of partial contours into polygonal regions using region-contour correspondences established by Delaunay triangulation of edge pixels as implemented in VISTA. The resulting polygons are analyzed with respect to their size and color/intensity distributions and the structural properties of their boundaries. Statistical estimates of granularity of size, similarity of color, texture, and saliency of intervening boundaries are computed and formulated into logical (Boolean) predicates. The combined satisfiability of these Boolean predicates by a pair of adjacent polygons at a given segmentation level qualifies them for merging into a larger polygon representing a coarser, larger-scale feature of the pixel image and collectively obtains the next level of polygonal segments in a hierarchy of fine-to-coarse segmentations. The iterative application of this process precipitates textured regions as polygons with highly convolved boundaries and helps distinguish them from objects which typically have more regular boundaries. The method yields a multiscale decomposition of an image into constituent features that enjoy a hierarchical relationship with features at finer and coarser scales. This provides a traversable graph structure from which feature content and context in terms of other features can be derived, aiding in automated image understanding tasks. The method disclosed is highly efficient and can be used to decompose and analyze large images. | 12-23-2010 |

Additional preferred aspects of the present invention can include detecting non-pervasive changes between sets of images in response at least in part to one or more difference images between the sets of images. | 06-20-2013 |

20140156565 | METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PREDICTING LEARNING CURVE FOR STATISTICAL MACHINE TRANSLATION SYSTEM - The disclosed embodiments relate to a system and method for predicting the learning curve of an SMT system. A set of anchor points are selected. The set of anchor points correspond to a size of a corpus. Thereafter, a gold curve or a benchmark curve is fitted based on the set of anchor points to determine the BLEU score. Based on the BLEU score and a set of parameters associated with the first set of anchor points, a confidence score is computed. | 06-05-2014 |
20140207439 | MACHINE TRANSLATION-DRIVEN AUTHORING SYSTEM AND METHOD - An authoring method includes generating an authoring interface configured for assisting a user to author a text string in a source language for translation to a target string in a target language. Initial source text entered by the user is received through the authoring interface. Source phrases are selected that each include at least one token of the initial source text as a prefix and at least one other token as a suffix. The source phrase selection is based on a translatability score and optionally on fluency and semantic relatedness scores. A set of candidate phrases is proposed for display on the authoring interface, each of the candidate phases being the suffix of a respective one of the selected source phrases. The user may select one of the candidate phrases, which is appended to the source text following its corresponding prefix, or may enter alternative text. The process may be repeated until the user is satisfied with the source text and the SMT model can then be used for its translation. | 07-24-2014 |
20140214397 | SAMPLING AND OPTIMIZATION IN PHRASE-BASED MACHINE TRANSLATION USING AN ENRICHED LANGUAGE MODEL REPRESENTATION - Rejection sampling is performed to acquire at least one target language translation for a source language string s in accordance with a phrase-based statistical translation model p(x)=p(t, a|s) where t is a candidate translation, a is a candidate alignment comprising a biphrase sequence generating the candidate translation t, and x is a sequence representing the candidate alignment a. The rejection sampling uses a proposal distribution comprising a weighted finite state automaton (WFSA) q | 07-31-2014 |
20140358519 | Confidence-driven rewriting of source texts for improved translation - A method for rewriting source text includes receiving source text including a source text string in a first natural language. The source text string is translated with a machine translation system to generate a first target text string in a second natural language. A translation confidence for the source text string is computed, based on the first target text string. At least one alternative text string is generated, where possible, in the first natural language by automatically rewriting the source string. Each alternative string is translated to generate a second target text string in the second natural language. A translation confidence is computed for the alternative text string based on the second target string. Based on the computed translation confidences, one of the alternative text strings may be selected as a candidate replacement for the source text string and may be proposed to a user on a graphical user interface. | 12-04-2014 |

20140156601 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HIERARCHICAL REFERENCE COUNTING VIA SIBLING TREES - Systems and methods for hierarchical reference counting via sibling trees are provided. The hierarchical data structure, together with its associated operations, can efficiently maintain reference counts and significantly reduce input/output (IO) operations compared to traditional techniques. The data structure presented here is applicable to any directed acyclic graph (DAG-type) structure where reference counts are used. Various embodiments of the present invention use a data structure to maintain a “sibling pointer” (pointing to the sibling node as a way to avoid reference count updates) and a “sibling count.” When nodes in the tree diverge, the sibling pointer and sibling count are updated as opposed to directly manipulating the reference counts of the children of the diverging nodes. Various other embodiments can use additional entries or fields that allow for improved efficiency and advantages. | 06-05-2014 |

Commands received from the auxiliary display platform may be handled by code external to the driver, such as a class extension object. For example, the class extension object may interpret and/or translate commands received from the auxiliary display platform into a format understood by the driver code. The auxiliary display device driver may then provide corresponding command information including data to the auxiliary display device via the transport. Event data may be returned from the auxiliary display device driver via the interface set to the class extension object, such that corresponding event information, e.g., received at the auxiliary display device, may be returned to the auxiliary display platform. | 07-10-2014 |
