20110196354 | METHOD AND DEVICE FOR VASCULAR TREATMENT - A method and device are disclosed for improved minimally invasive vascular treatments. The procedure comprises introducing a mono-channel or multichannel catheter into a vein to be treated, under local anesthesia, where the multichannels can be essentially concentric. This special catheter receives an energy transmitting elongate member in a channel and a fluid in another channel, or in the case of a mono-channel fluid flows around the member. Fluids that can be used, but not limited to, are saline solutions, cooled saline solutions, liquids for vapor generation, vasoconstricting agents, anesthetic agents and/or a formulation containing an ingredient which can be activated by the applied energy. Anesthesia, where used, is introduced into the inside of the vein, thus eliminating the need of external or tumescent anesthesia. In addition, the previously mentioned substances can also be combined according to the treatment requirements for different purposes and effects. After catheter and energy-transmitting elongate member are correctly placed and locked, fluid is delivered at member's tip and energy is emitted while withdrawing the elongate member-catheter set, choosing appropriate energy parameters for each case. In a preferred embodiment an optical fiber is used as the elongate member and a laser as a light energy source. In a preferred embodiment 20 ml of 1% lidocaine are used. In another preferred embodiment, fluid is delivered by means of an infusion pump. In a preferred embodiment, the optical fiber is a radial emitting fiber and the wavelength used is 1470±30 nm. This new vascular treatment has advantages over prior art, including: less procedure time, an easier and more versatile technique and the possibility to check vein closure echographically during and after the energy treatment. The method and device can be used with a variety of energy sources including lasers, other light sources, RF power sources and thermo-electric means. | 08-11-2011 |
20110275979 | METHOD/DEVICE FOR TRANSDERMAL VASCULAR TREATMENT - Devices and transdermal methods are provided for safe and effective therapeutic treatment of the venous system, such as varicose veins. Present invention provides non-invasive and minimally invasive transdermal methods for treating varicose and spider veins, comprising the use of a radiation source in combination with a chemical fluid/composition to safely and more effectively close or shrink vein walls, providing a transdermal therapeutic method for varicose veins until now only treated with surgery or endovascular laser treatments. In a preferred embodiment a device comprises a radiation source, preferably of wavelength between about 980 and 1940 nm, being effective in causing shrinkage of the vein treated. In other preferred embodiments methods comprise the transdermal delivery of a chemical composition through a patch or gel or the injection of a chemical fluid, preferably a hypertonic solution, to the vein under treatment; and simultaneously or after a dwell time, irradiating with a radiation source transdermally. The treatment performed with the present invention results in blood vessel wall damaged, eventually closing the vein, in lesser time with practically no pain or discomfort to the patient during and after the therapy. | 11-10-2011 |

20090118037 | Multi-material golf club head - A golf club head formed of multiple materials is disclosed. Those portions of the club head that are subject to high stresses during normal use of the golf club head are formed of a metallic material. Most of the material beyond what is required to maintain structural integrity, however, is removed and replaced with a lightweight material. This freed-up mass that can be redistributed to other, more beneficial locations of the club head. The lightweight material also damps vibrations generated during use of the golf club. This vibration damper may be retained in a state of compression to enhance the vibration damping. One or more weight members may be included to obtain desired center of gravity position, moments of inertia, and other club head attributes. | 05-07-2009 |

20090193766 | Container Closure System - A system for closing tamper-resistant containers, each container having a base portion, a sidewall extending upward from the base portion, and a lid having a peripheral groove on an upper surface of the lid. The system comprises a substantially planar surface supporting the base portion of the container and a sealing mechanism having a lower surface with a peripheral flange configured to engage the peripheral groove of the lid of the container and to exert a closing force on the lid in a direction perpendicular to the planar surface to seal the container by attaching the lid to the sidewall. | 08-06-2009 |
