20130151527 | ASSIGNING SOCIAL NETWORKING SYSTEM USERS TO HOUSEHOLDS - Users of a social networking system are assigned to households using prediction models that rely, in part, on user profile information and social graph data. Information about users may be received by a social networking system through various channels (e.g., declared/profile information, user history, IP addresses, Global Positioning System (GPS) data from check-in events and/or continuously provided by mobile devices, external household information, and/or social information). Scoring models may use statistical analysis of the received user information to predict household membership for users. User attributes, such as previous names, date of birth, social graph data, locations, life events, and check-ins, may be factors in generating confidence scores of predicted household memberships. Weighted scoring models may use machine learning methods for measuring the accuracy of the household membership prediction. The social networking system may use a machine learning algorithm to analyze user information to determine confidence scores for matching potential households. | 06-13-2013 |

The campaign requirements include a descriptive tag that uniquely identifies the advertisement campaign. The requirements include a plurality of campaign attributes that define the requirements of the advertisement campaign including target audience and advertisement campaign objective. A tag inventory, with a plurality of descriptive tags and a plurality of advertisement bookings associated with one or more of the descriptive tags, is analyzed based on the captured advertisement campaign requirements. A recommended suggestion of bookings based on the analysis is presented. The recommended suggestion of bookings matches at least a portion of the campaign attributes. A media plan is finalized for the advertisement campaign based on a response received for the recommended suggestion of bookings, the response defines the relevancy of the recommended suggestion of bookings. | 09-03-2009 |

20140156385 | MEASURING RECOLLECTION OF AN ADVERTISEMENT BY GROUPS OF USERS - An ad publishing system measures the effectiveness of an advertisement by determining whether recipients of the advertisement recall receiving it. This measurement is accomplished by polling a subset of the recipients of the advertisement as to whether they recall receiving, viewing, or otherwise being exposed to the advertisement. The market segment characteristics of the recipients and the subset of recipients are accounted for to improve the relevance of the polling responses. Market segment characteristics are determined using information describing recipients such as demographic information, psychographic information, or other information identifying likes, dislikes, interests, consuming habits, personal connections, group affiliations, internet browsing history, and other similar information. The responses to the recall poll can be used to calculate an effectiveness score of the advertisement as a function of market segment, advertisement publisher platform, or other variables. | 06-05-2014 |

20120166520 | Determining Advertising Effectiveness Outside of a Social Networking System - A social networking system or other user registration site builds a log of exposures by users to advertisements outside of the user registration site to determine their effectiveness. For each user exposed to an advertisement, a log entry is created indicating that the user has been exposed to the advertisement. Tracking pixels are embedded into advertisements that, when accessed, enable the social networking system or user registration site to log access to the advertisement by the user. From the log files, the user registration site identifies exposed users and selects unexposed users with similar demographics and/or behavior information to generate a control group. The two groups can be surveyed about the advertisement to determine its effectiveness. The user exposure information also can be used to retarget advertisements, to measure advertising effectiveness on connections of exposed users, and to measure actions of exposed users. | 06-28-2012 |
20120278184 | Combination of Social Networking Data With Other Data Sets for Estimation of Viewership Statistics - Embodiments of the invention combine information from different data sets, such as social networks, advertising networks, and/or panels, each data set comprising statistics about past viewership of content (e.g., advertisements). The result of the combination is a model that, when applied to statistics about viewing of particular content, produces viewing statistics about the particular content that are more accurate than the data of any given one of the different data sets when taken in isolation. | 11-01-2012 |

20130191207 | CROSS-MEDIUM ADVERTISING NETWORK - An online advertising system receives ads and ad exposure goals, such as a desired number of impressions or amount of presentation time, from advertisers. The online advertising system may also receive a time-based advertising purchase. A request for an ad is received for a client, and an amount of exposure is determined for each received ad across a plurality of ad mediums. The ad mediums may include both controlled ad mediums and external ad mediums. The advertising system selects an ad for presentation among the received ads based on the received ad exposure goals associated with the ads and the determined amount of exposure for each ad. The advertising system may select an ad by determining bids for each ad and conducting an auction among the ads. In such an embodiment, the advertising system may determine the bids for ads that have met their ad exposure goals to be zero. | 07-25-2013 |

20090198602 | RANKING COMMERCIAL OFFERS BASED ON USER FINANCIAL DATA - One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that ranks commercial offers for a user in a set of users. During operation, the system receives financial data for the set of users, wherein the financial data includes spending data for the set of users across a set of categories. Next, for a given user, the system computes an individual-strength vector based on financial data specific to the given user, wherein each entry in the individual-strength vector represents an amount of spending in a respective category for the given user. The system additionally computes a relative-strength vector for the given user based on the financial data for the set of users, wherein the relative-strength vector represents a relative-spending strength across the set of categories for the given user relative to the set of users. The system then ranks the commercial offers for a user based on both the set of individual-strength vectors and the set of relative-strength vectors for the set of users. | 08-06-2009 |

20140131463 | SELF-CLEANING SPRAY VALVE ASSEMBLY - Systems and methods for producing consistent spray patterns and for diminishing clogging experienced when applying spray adhesive from a spray gun are provided. One system includes an automatic non-atomizing spray valve operably coupled to a first and second flow valve. The spray and flow valves are electronically controlled using logic running on a processing unit. The logic is programmed to carry out a spray cycle that involves dispensing a first liquid from the spray valve (first phase) and then dispensing a second liquid through the same spray valve (second phase). Because the first liquid (e.g., water-based adhesive) has the potential to clog a nozzle of the spray valve, a short burst of the second liquid (e.g., cleaning fluid) is introduced to prevent the nozzle from clogging. The spray valve is configured as a pulse width modulated spray gun to further reduce clogging and to generate an evenly distributed spray pattern. | 05-15-2014 |

20110210100 | CONTROLLABLE CUT BY A PLASMA ARC TORCH - Embodiments of methods of controlling the shape of a cut on a workpiece using a plasma arc torch are provided. The methods may control the resultant cut angle and the shape of a top of the cut. The top of the cut can have either a sharp edge, or have a rounded lip. The radius of the rounded lip can be adjusted. The standoff distance defined between the nozzle of the plasma arc torch and the top surface of the workpiece contributes to defining the resultant cut angle and the shape of the top of the cut. In particular, increasing the standoff results in a greater radius and increases the cut angle and decreasing the standoff distance does the opposite. Additionally, the angle of inclination of the plasma arc torch can be used to compensate for a resultant cut angle so as to produce a desired cut angle. | 09-01-2011 |
20110210101 | PROCESSES FOR USING A PLASMA ARC TORCH TO OPERATE UPON AN INSULATION-COATED WORKPIECE - A process for using a plasma arc torch is provided that includes operating a power source of the plasma arc torch to initiate an electric arc between an electrode of the plasma arc torch and a nozzle of the plasma arc torch at a starting arc current. A flow of argon-containing gas can be provided through the nozzle while the arc exists between the electrode and the nozzle, and the power source operated to cause the arc to extend out from the nozzle to a coating of insulation on a workpiece. The arc may ionize at least part of the argon-containing gas so as to burn through the insulation of the workpiece and attach the arc to metal of the workpiece. Thereafter, the flow of argon-containing gas can be halted and a flow of a different gas can be provided while increasing the arc current above the starting arc current. | 09-01-2011 |
