20100004080 | PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE FOR A HYDRAULIC TENSIONER - The relief valve uses a slotted Belleville spring preloaded in a cage. The center area of the spring is closed and presses a hole in the bottom wall of the cage. The top wall of the cage is open and has a ledge against which the radial end of the spring presses. The relief valve is used in a hydraulic tensioner and positioned in the tensioner to have the bottom wall form a wall of the pressure chamber. When the pressure in the pressure chamber exceeds the pressure of the spring against the hole, fluid leaks out of the hole. | 01-07-2010 |

20110105257 | MECHANICAL TENSIONER WITH DAMPING FEATURE - A mechanical tensioner for a traction drive element is provided. It includes a housing with a bore having an open end and a closed bottom. A plunger having a first end is located in the bore. The first end of the plunger has a tapered slot or tapered opening defined therein forming a hollow wall portion of the plunger. The hollow wall portion is discontinuous in a circumferential direction. A wedge insert is located at least partially in the slot or opening. The wedge insert has an outer surface with a contact area that is complementary to the tapered slot or tapered opening. A spring is located between the wedge insert and closed bottom of the housing. The spring forces the wedge insert into the tapered slot or tapered opening with an increase in force as the plunger is depressed into the bore in the housing. This forces the hollow wall portion outwardly in order to provide a friction damping feature that increases with the distance that the plunger is depressed. | 05-05-2011 |
20110136605 | DUAL PLUNGER LINEAR CHAIN TENSIONER FOR TENSIONING MULTIPLE CHAIN SPANS - A chain tensioner is provided with a base housing, a first plunger, and a second plunger. The base housing surrounds a portion of at least one of the first or second plungers. A first spring is disposed between the first and second plungers, and a second spring is disposed between the first plunger and the base housing. The chain tensioner can tension two chain spans simultaneously with different stiffness parameters based on the two springs. | 06-09-2011 |
20150049977 | TWO PIECE CAGE FOR A NEEDLE BEARING - A two piece rolling element cage for a bearing assembly comprising a first and second cage, with axial projections extending from a cage body, oriented toward each other and inserted between rolling elements, on opposite axial ends of the rolling elements. | 02-19-2015 |
20160032988 | WEDGE FRICTION CLUTCH WITH ONBOARD ENABLE AND DISABLE FUNCTION - A wedge friction clutch with onboard enable and disable function, including: an axis of rotation; an inner race; an outer race located radially outward of the inner race; and a wedge assembly including at least one wedge plate located between the inner and outer races in a radial direction; at least one resilient element; and at least one piston. For a locked mode in which the inner and outer races are non-rotatably connected, the at least one resilient element is arranged to displace the at least one wedge plate in at least one first circumferential direction. For a free wheel mode in which the inner and outer races are independently rotatable with respect to each other, the at least one piston is arranged to displace the at least one wedge plate in at least one second circumferential direction. | 02-04-2016 |
20160076411 | MULTI-POSITIONAL CAMSHAFT PHASER WITH SWITCHABLE ONE-WAY WEDGE CLUTCHES - A camshaft phaser including a rotatable stator arranged to receive torque from an engine, a hub arranged to non-rotatably connect to a camshaft and including first and second pluralities of circumferentially disposed ramps, a first wedge plate including: a first aperture and a third plurality of circumferentially disposed ramps engaged with the first plurality of circumferentially disposed ramps, a second wedge plate including: a second aperture and a fourth plurality of circumferentially disposed ramps engaged with the second plurality of circumferentially disposed ramps, and an engagement assembly including a shaft extending axially through the first and second apertures. For an advance or retard mode, the shaft is arranged to be displaced axially so that the hub is rotatable with respect to the stator in a first or second circumferential direction. | 03-17-2016 |
