20140335233ASPARAGUS CONTAINERS AND RELATED METHODS - Asparagus spears may be stored and displayed for sale, and sold, in individual containers having a reservoir containing a volume of water, with a group of asparagus spears arranged in the container such that their white tips are in contact with the volume of water. This allows the asparagus spears to be moved from a retail display, to a shopping cart, to a shopping bag, and eventually to a customer's home, without having to remove the white tips of the asparagus from contact with the water. One exemplary container has a waist between the first end and the second end of the container and tapers inwardly from the waist toward the first end and toward the second end. This tapering shape permits air to flow between adjacent containers when the containers are packed together for shipping.11-13-2014

20150290398SHARP EXTRACTOR AND METHOD OF EXTRACTING A SHARP FROM A MEDICAL DEVICE - A sharp extractor has a ram that is actuatable to move from a disengaged position to an engaged position to dislodge a sharp from a medical device, and then return back to the disengaged position. With the medical device secured in axial alignment with the ram, the actuator is actuated to move to its engaged position, whereupon the sharp is detached from the medical device. The dislodged sharp is channeled directly into a medical waste container. Upon removing the sharp from the medical device, the medical device can be treated as standard medical waste, thereby reducing the cost associated with disposal of the medical device. With the volume of the sharp being greatly reduced as a result of removal from the relatively bulky medical device, the frequency of having to dispose the sharps can be greatly reduced, thereby further reducing cost associated with the disposal of the sharps.10-15-2015

20140243789Subcutaneous Dialysis Catheter with Ultrasound Agitation - A subcutaneous, venous catheter is provided in conjunction with a method of installation in hemodialysis treatments. The catheter has an implantable hub attached to a first end of the primary lumen. An anchoring back plate is pivottably secured to the catheter hub and surgically anchored to underlying musculature. Once the device is implanted, the hub can be arcuately translated underneath the skin by applying gentle pressure to either side of the hub. To reduce fluid stagnation within and around the lumen, a series of piezo-electric elements are integrated therein. A vibration processor is electrically connected to the piezo-electric elements such that the initiation of electrical current by the vibration processor results in contraction of the piezo-electric elements. Expansion and contraction of these elements propagates low-energy acoustic waves through the lumen, agitating liquid contained therein and improving flow of same through the catheter lumen.08-28-2014

20110087880REVOCATION OF CREDENTIALS IN SECRET HANDSHAKE PROTOCOLS - According to a general aspect, a computer-implemented method for a first user to verify an association with a second user through a secret handshake protocol includes maintaining information about a reusable identification handle for the first user, where the information about the reusable identification handle is provided by a trusted third party, maintaining information about a reusable credential for the first user, where the information about the reusable credential is provided by a trusted third party, and maintaining information about a matching reference for verifying an association with another user, where the information about the matching reference is provided by a trusted third party. Information based on the reusable identification handle and based on the reusable credential is transmitted to a potential peer. First information based on a reusable identification handle for the second user is received, and second information based on a reusable credential for the second user is received. A first comparison of a combination of the first information and the second information is performed with the matching reference to determine whether the second user's credentials match the first users matching reference. A second comparison of the first information with information published on a revocation list is performed to determine whether the second user's credentials have been revoked from usage. Based on the first comparison and the second comparison, a determination is made whether or not to verify the association of second user with the first user.04-14-2011
