20090012882 | ADAPTIVE INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - An adaptive inventory management system and method eliminates or minimizes frequency interference issues within a facility that employs a plurality of RFID readers for purposes of tracking and managing inventory. A middleware server activates and deactivates adjacent RFID readers within the facility based on the location of an item having an RFID tag. The middleware server also queries an inventory database based on the information collected from the RFID tag of the item and generates a command signal based on information retrieved from the database to control the travel route of the vehicle transporting items of inventory within the facility. | 01-08-2009 |
20100106458 | COMPUTER PROGRAM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING AND PREDICTING VALVE FAILURE IN A RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR - Embodiments of the present invention provide a method implemented by a computer program for detecting and identifying valve failure in a reciprocating compressor and further for predicting valve failure in the compressor. Embodiments of the present invention detect and predict the valve failure using wavelet analysis, logistic regression, and neural networks. A pressure signal from the valve of the reciprocating compressor presents a non-stationary waveform from which features can be extracted using wavelet packet decomposition. The extracted features, along with temperature data for the valve, are used to train a logistic regression model to classify defective and normal operation of the valve. The wavelet features extracted from the pressure signal are also used to train a neural network model to predict to predict the future trend of the pressure signal of the system, which is used as an indicator for performance assessment and for root cause detection of the compressor valve failures. | 04-29-2010 |
20100194239 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HARVESTING ENERGY FROM ENVIRONMENTAL VIBRATIONS - Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and a method for increasing the harvested energy from a piezoelectric element exposed to environmental vibrations via a two-prong system. In a first prong, a cantilever beam is tapered and shaped so as to increase and provide an approximately uniform strain on and along the beam, thus resulting in increased voltage. In a second prong of the system and method, a voltage compensating circuit, when used with a voltage inversion circuit of the prior art, increases the harvested power by injecting current to the piezoelectric element after each voltage inversion so as to increase the voltage level. | 08-05-2010 |

20090149821 | NOVEL PORTABLE ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICES FOR DUAL ACTION WOUND HEALING - A portable, self-contained device is described for the topical application of oxygen and the removal of wound exudates to promote the healing of skin wounds. The device includes a wound dressing that incorporates at least one electrochemical cell for generating oxygen. The device can regulate the supply of oxygen to the wound at various concentrations, pressures and dosages and is used to produce a high concentration of oxygen at the wound site. By reversing the polarity of the power source a reduced pressure can be created in a reservoir attached to our device. The reduced pressure in the reservoir draws naturally flowing exudates away from the wound. Alternately, two reverse polarity cells are used to alternately supply oxygen and draw away exudates. | 06-11-2009 |
20100217177 | Oxygen-Producing Bandage With Releasable Oxygen Source - A device for delivering oxygen to a wound or injury includes a bandage, which includes a base defining an opening, a cover, and a locking mechanism for releasably securing the cover to the base. An oxygen source is in fluid communication with the cover, whereby oxygen is delivered to the opening in the base. | 08-26-2010 |
20120289890 | OXYGEN DELIVERY DEVICE - A portable topical oxygen therapy system includes a miniature gas cylinder containing compressed oxygen, a miniature regulator or having an inlet and an outlet and a wound dressing having an interior configured to cover or enclose an exterior portion of a patient's body. The inlet of the regulator is connected to the gas cylinder. The interior of the wound dressing is connected to the outlet of the regulator. The portable topical oxygen therapy system is sized and configured to be wearable by the patient without interfering with normal ambulation. | 11-15-2012 |
20150191845 | ELECTROCHEMICAL METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING A VACUUM IN A SEALED ENCLOSURE - An apparatus for forming a vacuum in a sealed enclosure through an electrochemical reaction includes an electrochemical cell comprising a cathode and an anode supported on a solid electrolyte. The solid electrolyte is a Li-ion non-volatile electrolyte containing a dissolved metal salt. The cathode is constructed of a material with which lithium is known to form alloys.
